yet the only mod action taken was taken against both sides of the arguement..so just how was i being impartial? you need to back your actions because "your mean" aint cutting it.

and you fail to listen to people as well.

how many times do i have to state it's not your opinion of Britney Spears that i have an issue with, it's people calling someone fat who isn't and the affect that has on people and eating disorders.

that is another beef i have with you. you aren't even listening to me.

no, i hear you...you think im a mean person...well, okay. but that doesnt have any thing to do with me being a site moderator...you accussed me of being an impartial mod within the britney thread, did you not? luv4u and i both were participating in that thread...everybody was getting involved in the thread going back and forth sharing their opinons but somehow i walked away from that discussion with you posting this:

i at times question a certain mods ability to be nonpartial in his moderation skills.

last night he proved again to me that at times he is unable at times to leave his personal issues out of his ability to be a mod.

no rules violated on that thread...yet you post the above. why? because you dont like me....thats okay...we all arent going to get along. but dont trump up faulty accusations just to reinforce your dislike of me...just be a man and say you don't like me...

and thats the end of it...you go on being happy with your life...i go on being happy with mine...and all is done.

for the most part i like you, and i have come to your defense in the past.

critizism isn't about me disliking you. it's just i don't feel you are impartial.

i feel last night that the thread turned to personal attacks and that's why i agreed with lastdecember.

however you were enjoying it too much to take action.

that's where i question your ability to impartial.

and because there were two mods on the thread all ready i didn't see the need to do a report to mod. because it should have been clear to you that it had turned that way.

the argument did not turn personal...there have been far worst threads that have thrived on and on and on...what we have here are two sides that are strongly passionate about their opinions and neither side was willing to concede the debate. i saw nothing wrong with that thread and still don't...

folks are still posting on it...there is no name calling...both sides were equally snarky with each other but that doesn't warrant a thread being locked...and cha know what? i encourage all the other mods to read the thread and voice there opinion:

http://prince.org/msg/8/243777

cause you know what? you could have easily created a thread saying, "hey folks...i really think this thread should be locked because of point a, b or c"...

but you didn't do that. you didn't want to do that...you want to put the blame on me. and well, we all know whats up with that. confused

which specific post do you feel was a personal attack that warranted the thread being locked? specifics please.

thanks in advance.

your expectations of *me*...you didn't call out luv4u, you called out *me*. now tell me this isn't personal...

oh, and i found that part where you wanted the thread locked...this was your reasoning:

because aside from everyone agreeing about the performace sucking there isn't much to talk about.

Okay, I just read the whole fucking thread! It took me over thirty minutes! Someone owes me thirty minutes of my life back because that thread was something I wouldn't have read or posted on in the first place!!! No, maybe I would have posted something, but not a whole fucking conversation! Britney... disbelief

However - In my opinion - It was a standard conversation about a poor performance, some body fat and bad dance moves. I was not able to watch the videos posted, because apparently they've been removed. So I have no basis for the performance in question - I didn't see the awards show either. (forgot it was on). I am hoping they will rebroadcast it as they used to do in the past.

I feel people are getting waaaaay toooo emotional on this topic - I think when people started dragging in comparisons to Maddy and Janet, it went downhill - but not enough to warrant any action.

sos called someone "lil ray charles"... he said it in a laughing way - it did not come off as harsh or evil minded. In all honesty, people need to stop bringing in personal feelings into when a moderator is a part of the general conversation. Do we not have the right to post our thoughts? Even in a jovial manner? C'mon. I know some people don't like his style of moderating. I know some people don't like my style of moderating. I know the same stands for luv, carrie, mach, etc... so I feel that that person is not going to like what they/we/I have to say in any thread regardless of whether we are joking or not.

That being said, I have a suggestion for the moderators to mull over:

I think that when a moderator becomes a part of the conversation in a majority of the thread, that moderator needs to step back from moderating the thread so as to appear that he/she is not "controlling" the conversation. I'm not at all stating that this was the case, just perhaps something we should do from now on... and only if we're major contributors to the thread. This may avoid other orgers from thinking our position on this site can be used to sway the conversation to our liking. This way, a third party is involved and seems more fair. Also - orgers must take responsibility too. If you feel that a thread is going unfairly or turning ugly - REPORT IT TO A MODERATOR! Even if a moderator is part of the conversation. Mods? Your thoughts?

Lastly, and to restate my opinion on this thread matter - yes, some emotions got high. No rules were broken, from what I could see. There were edits made by mods, but I can't tell you what they were, so I have no idea what was removed or censored or snipped. Even reading it now, the end result is that it's a heated discussion, both pro and con, but not to the point that it should be removed or locked.

One last comment.... all this over Britney Spears? barf

there are some on this board that have had to deal with them. and maybe many that lurk here that have to. i'm just asking that we be respectful of the power of our words.

look it lil ray charles aint nobody calling her fat...you best re-read the same sh*t you posted because brit isnt fit, does have a tummy and did have a giggle...does that mean she is fat or obese? nope..

and lord knows where justinerin is coming from with all that she posted...

its as if folks are lashing out all their pint up societal frustrations on this thread and the folks who are being rightfully critical of ole brit's major f*ck up.

as a Mod i expect you to be above name calling whether in jest or not, i've never called you a name.

that echos what i said on the thread when it happened

oh my lord, did you just go there with the mod thing...again? it was joke...a play on your "blind" comment...get it?

and aint nobody called britney fat...they said the outfit didn't fit her..they said she had a belly and jiggled...all of that facts of her performance. the woman's outfit did not flatter her body...but i am sure you once again will try to bring it all on back to folks calling her fat and societal's ill will towards ugly and fat people...

come on!! come one!! do it!!! i know you want to.

britney is the new john mayer.

this echos what has been posted on this thread that you ahve the tendacy to hide things behind a joke... which appears to others to be repeated beheaviour

we'll just leave here as why i think you fail to be impartial as a mod.

While I understand the ramifications of starlets and their eating disorders and the effects it may have on impressionable people, this site is truly not the pulpit from which to set into motion a campaign against it. A multitude of non-politically correct topics get discussed here. If we begin to CENSOR all branches of conversation based on the ill effect it may have on someone, then this is truly not gonna be the site we now know and love.

Look at the site. Look at the orgers on this site. Look at the topics being discussed and then ask yourself if you seriously think that this site, in all its glory, is the site you think is on the path to the betterment of mankind? I mean it's a good site and all, but not for correcting the ills of society.

Our job is not to judge the morality of the statements made here, but to make sure everyone is remaining civil to one another. Generalized statements not directed at someone imparticular, (nothing personal or hateful towards someone) is still within site rules.

i'm just asking that people realize the power of words.

and if you knew anything about what i do outside of the org you'd know that this is not my medium to change the world. however i won't miss an chance to point out the power of words

like i said in the thread, i had the same discussion with a friend who writes for a paper and got him to change his comments.

the opprunity presented itself, and the Goddess said go.

I agree nod

It's kinda hard to convince people that we're not the thought police/power tripping/whatever when a moderator moderates stuff directed at them.

I think we need as Mods - the freedom to post as orgers on threads. To interact in areas that we enjoy. I feel that if you choose to interact as a regular poster in a conversation that starts to drift into negitive areas then YES another Mod should be brought in. One that isnt invested in the conversation and can look at it in a removed Mod fashion.

no, i hear you...you think im a mean person...well, okay. but that doesnt have any thing to do with me being a site moderator...you accussed me of being an impartial mod within the britney thread, did you not? luv4u and i both were participating in that thread...everybody was getting involved in the thread going back and forth sharing their opinons but somehow i walked away from that discussion with you posting this:

i at times question a certain mods ability to be nonpartial in his moderation skills.

last night he proved again to me that at times he is unable at times to leave his personal issues out of his ability to be a mod.

no rules violated on that thread...yet you post the above. why? because you dont like me....thats okay...we all arent going to get along. but dont trump up faulty accusations just to reinforce your dislike of me...just be a man and say you don't like me...

and thats the end of it...you go on being happy with your life...i go on being happy with mine...and all is done.

There were no rules violated on that thread? REally? Then why the fuck did you snip my very relevant comment toward the ignorant ass who brought race into the discussion?

that was the following day. and thanks for posting the above comment..you need to remember that your comments are being applied to a human being on the other end...its not just words floating in cyberspace. to say what you said about somebody that you know personally and have engaged on a personal level in uncalled for.

To say that someone is disgusting and rude is too insulting? Since when, because that is EXACTLY what I wrote.

I agree nod

It's kinda hard to convince people that we're not the thought police/power tripping/whatever when a moderator moderates stuff directed at them.

Sorry, just being as honest as I possibly can. Maybe your new job is rubbing off on you without you even noticing? I've seen a marked change in you, a smug, condescending attitude that causes you to be insulting toward others with little provocation.

i agree...but for the record i was not involved in the conversation that was occurring between gemini and najee...if it was my part of the conversation i would (and have in th past) allowed other mods to intervene. and see gemini's above post to see the tone of her comments (and najee's) for part of the reason why i snipped their tit for tat.

honesty should not equal a disregard for human decency. you want to talk to me then do it like an adult.
