How about moving the {edit} statement

Hey Ben,

you ever consider moving the edit statement to underneath the signature area..that way, it doesnt bleed into the post. ...just a recommendation... smile
casue this thang bellow sure is annoying mad

or at least allow it to skip a line between the original post and the edit statement.
