Housequake!!! in Houston, Tuesday June 7 We Houston fams are just now recovering from the Party for Like-Minded Individuals. Yours truly drug himself home at 5 AM this morning. But it was worth it!
Now, on to Phase Two.
Housequake! - A Royal Tribute to Prince is scheduled for Tuesday June 7 at Gage Lounge, 2600 Travis. Start time is 5:00, end time is 2:00 AM. Gage Lounge will be easy to find after dark because we're going to have a Prince Bat Signal! Promoter Craig Alexander has rented some sort of device that shines logos onto buildings, and has created a Prince symbol for it. Downtown Houston is going to be lit up with the !
Here's who I know is performing:
Yours truly! Ant Boogie and I are going to do a couple songs together, with D'Ann Johnson helping on vocals. Then Ant and I are going to provide a groove for the poet Se7en to lay down some rhymes. Finally, I'm playing "The Love We Make" with a vocalist named Charles providing the voice. Can't wait!
And fresh from their roof-blowing performance last night, it's just been confirmed that The Breakdown is playing! These guys are GREAT. And they do stuff you don't hear other groups play. For instance, they dd "Art Official Cage" last night, but the real show-stopper was "Condition of the Heart". They NAILED it. Keyboardist Jeff hit every single note, including the intro.
Bob is going to re-create the perfomance numbers from "Purple Rain" including "Computer Bluw" and "Darling Nikki". I've seen him before and he's fantastic.
Peter V will have his karoake set-up for after the live performances. His catalogue is unbelievable! If Prince sings it, he has it. And you have to see Peter blow up "The Bird" at least once in your life - too funky!
Hit me up with an orgnote or something if you're coming. I'd love to meet you!

Thanks for the OrgNote, good questions!
The event is free but you can download tickets. That might be a good idea. I don't know what the capacity of the venue is, but there are about 1,000 RSVPs on EventBrite so far. Here is the link:

Y'all hit me up, I'll be easy to find. Just look for the old white guy playing rhythm guitar, and that will be me! |

That was the greatest party I've ever been to! I got to play guitar in front of 500 people - with no shirt! Pictures coming, I promise!
JackOat, it was so awesome to meet you. Thank you for coming! I hope you had a great time, and please bump me whenever you're in Houston! |
