Prince Tribute in London - with CeeLo Green, Mark Ronson and Morris Day & The Time

On Sale from Monday:

Autism Rocks, the UK-based charity that brought Prince to London in 2014 and 2015 (including his last live performance in the UK) is honouring his musical genius by hosting a tribute show starring world-class acts CeeLo Green, Mark Ronson and Morris Day & The Time at the Eventim Apollo on June 24th and 25th.

The concert will be part of Autism Rocks’ ongoing efforts to raise awareness and funds for autism research.

CeeLo Green, known for his unique soul voice and his no.1 hits “Forget You”
and (as the voice of duo, Gnarls Barkly) “Crazy”, will be performing live in Prince’s memory. CeeLo was mentored by Prince and described his friendship with the music icon as the greatest accomplishment of his professional career. Green recently spoke out about how privileged he felt to have performed with Prince and to have been able to attend his final concert in Atlanta.

Talented producer, DJ and music maker Mark Ronson’s recent global smash, “Uptown Funk” has been referred to as an homage to the Minneapolis sound of both Prince and The Time, with Mark thanking Prince in his Grammy acceptance speech for the song. Given Mark’s own musically diverse accomplishments, Autism Rocks are eagerly anticipating hearing what will undoubtedly be a DJ set befitting of Prince’s eclectic legacy.

Morris Day & The Time are also performing as a special tribute to Prince. The band was put together by Prince in 1981, however Prince’s involvement with Morris (renowned for his dynamic dancing and smooth yet gutsy vocals), dates back to 1980. His song Partyup was covered on Prince’s Dirty Mind album.

Sanjay Shah, founder of Autism Rocks said: “We will always be grateful for all the support Prince has shown to the charity and the incredible shows he dedicated to Autism Rocks. We feel tremendously privileged and we are looking forward to hosting these concerts in his honour.
“Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the world. It is our wish that people have a better understanding of the condition and that people on the autistic spectrum are fully supported and able reach their true potential.”

All proceeds from Autism Rocks’ UK events will go to the Autism Research Trust which raises funds to support the Autism Research Centre at Cambridge University. ART supports life-changing projects such as the development of an app, aimed at helping non-verbal children with autism learn how to speak. Other projects include stem cell neuron testing, a cutting-edge new way of studying the autistic brain and studies of the impact of Oxytocin, also known as “empathy” or “social” hormone, to detect behavioural changes in autistic adults.
