Ex-Moderator | Third Annual MinneVasion - 10/20-10/22 - last minute details! NOTE: So, like, we've added a dinner meet-up Friday and slightly changed the plan for Sunday. If ya'll can do us a favor and keep this thread 'clean' with only questions and such about specifics, travel, how do I get here?, etc. it would be helpful for folks looking for all the pertinent info. THANKS A HEAP!
CarrieMpls and Endorphin74 bring you: The Official MinneVasion Itinerary* FRIDAY Folks will be arriving through the day today. Contact the Hosts directly if you need help coordinating your travel from the airport or if you are arriving early Friday and need some fun suggestions for your day. For those here early enough to meet for a dinner before the party, we will be meeting at 7pm at Sawatdee. Hope you guys like thai! http://www.sawatdee.com/ 607 Washington Avenue S Minneapolis, MN 55415 tel 612.338.6451 From dinner we will move on to: THE PRINCE INVASION PARTY at The Bolt is one the town's most interesting Gay Bars and is located at 513 Washington Avenue S, Minneapolis The party kicks off at 9 PM. 'Purple Drink' Specials from 9-10. Princey vids playing all nite long as we go crazy on the dancefloor to the beats from DJ Lenka Paris Lenka is our lovely local lady who keeps the Prince Nights alive in MPLS. Her sets are NOT to be missed. Locals, y'all had better get your ass out on the town for this. Once again we are gonna show MPLS how it's done! SATURDAY Morning Do what you want! Rest, relax and recover from Friday night. Grab a bite to eat. Enjoy the city. We will be happy to suggest activities based on where you are staying. Afternoon 2 PM - ? The annual 'meetNgreet' at http://www.theherkimer.com The Herkimer is a friendly brew pub located in the LynLake area of Uptown. It’s very easily accessible by the bus. Serving a variety of traditional and quirky foods, it’s a nice place to spend the day. Bring some change as well, they have a rockin little jukebox. If the weather cooperates, after eating and whatnot we will head out on foot to enjoy the area. LynLake has somehow managed to retain the independence and funkiness of what we all imagine Uptown to be. Even if you don’t spend money, there are some fun shops to check out. Some of our planned stops as we stroll the neighborhood include: and, most importantly, only a few blocks away: Evening The meetNgreet will likely last into the early evening hours. Once we’ve parted, we will have some open time for folks to get back to their belongings, rest and freshen up for a night in downtown MPLS. Night 9 PM Meet at: 700 First Avenue North Minneapolis Located directly across from the legendary First Avenue, O’Donovan’s is one of our finest Irish Pubs. With a great selection of beers and spirits to get the mood flowing and a lot of space to gather in this is a good place to start a night on the town. An added plus for those who haven’t found time to eat again is the full menu of your standard bar food. Oh and, if you haven’t seen First Avenue yet, now’s your chance! My money’s on at least a few group photos being taken at this point in the night! 10:30ish It’s time to get our groove on. So we are heading to: 10 South Fifth Street Minneapolis Foundation is the latest name for a club space which has suddenly reappeared in MPLS. Swanky and hip without being too pretentious, it’s been a welcome addition to our night life. Foundation features a mix of MPLS house and electronica in the mainroom and old school Hip Hop and RnB in the Deep Lounge. The variety of music and atmosphere should be a perfect fit for our group of seXXXy. An added plus of this venue is that it is located directly across from the Notorius Gay 90s. So, should folks decide that a change of scenery is in order as the night rolls on, we can head over there for more dancing and the most potent drinks in MPLS. SUNDAY We had planned on offering a brunch at Darin's and realized there's a bit too many people to really fit in the house. Never fear! We've got a great goodbye activity planned. For those still around and interested, we'll be heading to the Midtown Global Market for lunch and lounging. Grab a Mexican coke! Pick up some Japanese candy! Enjoy an incredibly spicy Nepalese cucumber! There's fun food for all and some crafty stuff for sale too. If you're interested, we'll give ya'll the details Saturday afternoon. If you can't make it there but want to meet up with us Sunday, orgnote endorphin74 or myself. *events subject to change *The hosts reserve the right to add an afterbar at Club 2441 at any point in this weekend. *We’ve scoured concert calendars and were unable to find any reasonably priced show that would appeal to all. If you are really hoping for some live music while you are here, let us know and we will get you the most appealing options. Now, DON’T U WANNA COME??!! [Edited 10/17/06 18:13pm] |

Also...please see my last post on the other thread (it got locked down...) and to keep this thread clear, OrgNote me if need be s can't wait till this weekend! Are you gonna make dinner, Gretchen? I'm deciding if we need reservations or not... And Deja, yes, this is the Sawatdee that's just a block down Washington from the Bolt, so we'll walk right on over after we eat. If we get done early enough and its nice out, we might stroll around down to the Stone Arch Bridge or something if we're bored, but I'm guessing it may be too cold or we won't have time. We plan to get to Bolt right at 9 for the drink specials. |

The second of three baby friendly club dates is this Saturday, October 21st from 2-5pm! For those of you that missed the first one, Baby loves disco is an afternoon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real djs blending classic disco tunes from the 70s, & 80s guaranteed to get those little booties moving and grooving. Along with the music there's bubble machines, baskets of instruments, a chill-out room (with tents, books and puzzles), diaper changing stations, a full spread of healthy snacks (provided by Whole Foods) and dancing, LOTS of dancing. But at it's core, Baby loves disco is a community event that brings kids together. It also gives busy parents a time to socialize! And, our son loved all the activities too" ALL Walking Humans MUST buy a ticket. It's the Crawlers who get in free! Cost: $10 for all walking humans No kid? No entry! No exceptions! *This event is for parents and their children aged 6 months to 7 years old. www.babylovesdisco.com vi | |
