Prince Tribute

Hello All,

If this is in the wrong place, charge it to my head and not my heart. It has taken me quite awhile to enter my studio. I just did not feel like creating anything. Although on that day I fell asleep somehow for an hour and I was given a new song entitled "10:06." A good friend told me that Prince would not want any musician to stop creating. So, I did a little of the initial tracking a few days ago. But I did not want to express my heart in a sad song. Therefore, like I did when Denise left us, I created something that was hopefully fun and uplifting.

This is my tribute to my teacher and friend. I sort of worried if it was good enough to share. But, I could not make myself throw it in my vault (yes all musicians have one Smile). So, I threw it out there. I have never labored over a track so much before. So much so that I had to stop a few times because the tears would try to fall from my eyes. Anyway, it is out there for those who want to hear it. My only hope is that it makes your feel good.

Two things. I used the Elvis sample from Poet 99 and it was used because I believe that generations to come will come to love the genius of Prince as they do with Elvis. I think it will be even greater. Secondly, there are two endings. The second one is what I think Prince would want for us still here. I may not record anything else, I don't know. I am still working through my feeling's. Because as a friend told me today "you were studying, while I was just listening."

I know that this message is not coming out like I hear it in my heart. But, know I did this out of love and respect. The man literally saved my life and I would not have my family if were not for him. He taught so much. And I am eternally grateful that I got to live in a generation in which I could get to know him as a man and as the greatest musician ever.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. And if you listen to the track, I thank you. Love it or hate it please know that my heart was in the right place and my only goal was to bring those who hear it some joy. Lastly, beyond the obvious, all other vocals, laughter, and breathing are ALL him.

You didn't say which one of your tracks you referring to but I assume its Letter 2 15 Full Version. That is a nice grooving track, Well Done!
