Descent Into Dawn
******************* Music tends to meander At the break of dawn The positivity wears off And potions of the past No longer work their magic As darkness descends The break of dawn Is the time to begin again But fails when the safety holds Are gone and the next day Remains an uncertain Projection into the future Sometimes night is escape The getaway ticket Into the past and the future Not leaving one behind In the present Where too many chances And unexpected changes Leave one wondering Where up is down And right is wrong Where there is no past No new beginning Only the present Hanging on... With its last nails Intact, ready to claw Or withdraw... As fate may reveal... Uncodified, a slow Descent into Dawn
