ANDROGYNINE,
here are 2 of the essays so far for art history.
Medieval Objects: Madonna & Child.
Madonna and child, c.1310, Tempera and gold ground on poplar panel Segna di Buonaventura What is most interesting about this painting is the way the Bounaventura has portrayed their skin tones. They both are darker than other images of the Madonna and child. They both have an olive green color to them and because they are darker than usual they have Arabic look to them. The child has circles around his wrist, which makes him look like a mannequin or something, but probably attributes to the skin folds. What stand out most about this painting, in comparison to others of the child, is that he looks like an old man, with very old and gentle expressions on his face. The child also he has a receding hairline. The child seems to be wise well beyond his years. Buonaventura painted both the Madonna and child in a naturalist style, with the exception of their fingers and the child’s facial expression, which are more abstract. They both have very long exaggerated fingers. The Mother and child both have the same kind of pouty lips, as if they both just got through sucking on lemons, more so the child. She also has a very long neck, where as his is short and pudgy. Both the Madonna and child have the same color rosy cheeks. The Madonna’s eyes are more slanted and angular making her look more Asian. The Childs eyes are more circular. He definitely takes after his father. Her nose is long and pointy; his is short with a bulb at the end of it. She looks very somber and motherly. He looks very scholarly almost as if he is the one with the most intelligence between the two of them. The Madonna’s cape is basically looks black, but upon further inspection it is actually a dark green, reddish brown, beige, with some hints of black to it. Her undergarment is of a peach cream color and looks as if were made of a soft silky material. There are symbols in the seam of her cloak and around the trim of it. Most notably are the presence of swastikas. Her garments are draped over her, giving her an appearance of “royalty.” The child has a red garment wrapped around him. His garment is made up of on piece of material and it has a gold trim around the hemline. His hair is wavy, with curls at the ends. His hair is brown, possible at one time it could have been blonde, but because it is such an old painting it probably has turned color, through out the years. The child has very interesting eyes, almost as if you can see both the past and future in them. He looks very astute and stoic. The child’s face appears much older than the mother. The child has a pop belly showing that he is not hungry for anything. This painting is done on a wood panel and you can see where the paint is cracking. Strange how the images look so life like almost as if they are going to move within the portrait. I am curious as to why Buonaventura put the “stitch” marks around their wrist. They both have halos over their heads that are engraved into the wood panel, with the Madonna’s being much larger than the child’s. They are both placed in the center of the painting and surrounded by an arch above them. This painting was done in 1310 and was created on a 27. X 191/4 wooden panel. It was painted using tempera and gold ground. It is attributed to the medieval times but is listed under the Sienese period. There are 2 other know version of this painting done by Bonaventura that were painted between the years 1310 and 1330. This particular piece probably had two side panels attached to it, with a panel on each side of The Madonna and Child. Egg tempera was probably the most commonly medium used by artist in Europe during this time period. It usually consisted of colored pigment mixed with both water and egg yolk and because tempera was fast drying most artist during this time used it. Also it should be noted that this method or style of paintings lasted a very long time. This also probably the reason why you can see that cracks in the paintings. It drys very hard.

Baroque Objects: The Immaculate Conception with St. Francis of Assis and St. Antony of Padua.
Bottom of Form The Immaculate Conception with Saints Francis of Assisi and Anthony of Padua, 1650 Oil On Canvas
The Immaculate Conception with Saints Francis of Assisi and Anthony of Padua is a painting done with oil on a canvas. That depicts Mary the mother of Jesus standing on the crescent moon, with the horns pointing downward as the sun is eclipsing it. Mary has two angels on the left hand side of her. One of these angels is strumming a guitar and the other is holding a baton, conducting the angels as they play their music. To the right of Mary are three more angels. It is hard to tell if they are male or female but the one closest to her is strumming a violin as the other two younger angels look on in awe of Mary. Around Mary’s head is what looks like nine stars. These stars circle Mary’s head appearing to be as a halo. Mary has a glow behind her head adding to the luminous appearance to Mary. Mary’s hair is tied in the back and is flowing freely to the right, which is consistent with the direction that her close are flowing towards. Mary has both hands stretched out and open as if she is greeting the two men beneath her. She is bare foot while standing on top of the moon. Mary is dressing is a vibrant red dress with a beige cloth wrapped around her upper body and a large blue cloth wrapped around her waist, lower part of her body and her left arm. She looks beautiful and a the most serine peace. The look on her face is pleasant; almost as if she were saying “I have been waiting for you.” Beneath Mary are two clergymen. To the left of her is St. Francis of Assissi, who has his arms spread out like Mary. He has a look on his face that says that he is in the present of a wondrous miracle. With his arms spread out the way that they are, it’s as if he is saying, “Please forgive me and except me as I am humble to you, holy mother.” An interesting observation I noted are the stigmata’s in both of his hands. The right one seems to be still bleeding as if it were a fresh wound. It will be interesting to find out what this represents. St. Francis is dress in a dark brown clergymen’s cloak and has a rope tied around his waist that has three knots in it. Next to him is a skull. His feet are covered and his cloak, unlike Mary’s and the angels, looks as if it were made out of burlap. His cloak appears to merge with ground making them one. St. Francis has a very thin light that surrounds his head, which also appears to be a halo as well. His beard makes him seem as if he is much older than the other guy and much wiser. Beneath St. Francis is what looks like a cup of some sort. The other man standing beneath Mary and to her left is St. Anthony. He is looking up at Mary with awe in his eyes and his hands folded over his chest. The look on his face is also of wonder as he looks upon her, yet seems to say that he is not worthy of her presence. Like St. Francis he is also dressed in a brown cloak and as well has a rope around his waist with three knots. His cloak seems to have patches on it. St. Anthony has a much shorter beard than St. Francis and he appears to be much younger. He is beautiful. Beneath St. Anthony are two things of signifant symbolic importance. These are the white lilies and a book of scriptures. The angels appear to be cradled in the clouds and are joyfully in the presence of Mary. They seem to be in praise of her, playing music for her and gracing her presence. Two are dressed in light bule cloths , two in a brownish beige cloth and the angel that is the conductor is draped in white. If you look closely you can see to baby’s looking up at mary hidden in the orange clouds behind her. One of the babies looks like the gerber baby. Off in the distance you can see the sky that is a light blue which probably means it it close to dusk as it appears that the sun is off in the distance, covered by grey clouds. Interesting enough the clouds covering the sun are a bright yellowish color and the other clouds go from a greyish color to a very dark grey color as they get further away from the sun. What I find odd is that there are two suns in this portrait. There is the sun that is eclipsing the moon and then there is the sun that is off in the background as if it were setting. Strangely enough even though these two suns are present the light in this painting appear to be coming from the left side of the painting. I ask myself where is this light coming from? Everyone in this painting is lit from the right side. The clouds in this have a variety of color. The clouds in the back ground go from a bright yellowish color to a dark grey color. The clouds in the forefront to the painting are a yellowish gold to a dark right orange color. The clouds that surround Mary seem as if they are opening up and revealing heaven. Il Grechetto, who was also known as Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione, created this painting in 1650. Grechetto was born in Genoese in the year 1609 and he died in 1664. He was an Italian artist who became famous for his baroque style craftsman ship in painting and printmaking. He went to Genoese school. He was greatly influenced by Anthony van Dyck and most famously by Rembrandt. It was his amazing eye for lighting and shading that gave him the title of being the second Rembrandt of his era. It was around 1648 Grechetto explored the idea of engraving and soon went on to invent the monotyping style of printmaking. The Immaculate Conception with Saints Francis of Assisi and Anthony of Padua is not necessarily a painting about an event that has taken place but more so a painting that is dogmatic or an expression of the Catholic Church’s religious belief. It has many symbolic meaning attached to it. For instance the stars that surround Mary’s head in total are said to represent the 12 tribes of Isreal. The lights around the Francis and Anthony’s head indicate that they are more than just clergymen but actually instead they are saints. The knots that are tyed on the ropes around their waste represent the three religious vowels of poverty, chastity and obedience. The skull, which is by St. Francis, is one of the reminders that man is mortal and finally in regards to St. Francis is the stigmata’s in his hands. These wounds he reported received when he saw a vision of Christ. The symbolic meanings attacted to St. Anthony are the white lilies. These lilies connected to purity, and the book next to him reveals that he is a great speaker of the scripture. He has his arms clasped over his chest because his stands before Mary with great humility. The one thing in this portrait that was probably not apart of the original painting is the cup beneath St. Francis. According to my research this was The Coat of Arms. It is a family crest that belonged to the Fiorenzi family and was added at a later time, by another painter, after Castiglione finished the painting.

ANDROGYNINE,
Here is the third essay The Renaissance Objects:
Christ Driving the Money Changers from the Temple, c. 1570 Oil on canvs Domenikos Theotokopoulos (El Greco)
[img:$uid]http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n231/TheDownLoadSociety/largelove.jpg[/img:$uid]
Christ Driving the Money Changers from the Temple is a painting that depicts a scene from the verse, Matthew 21:12, in the bible. In this painting Jesus is shown with a whip in his hands and he is swinging at the merchants in the temple. He is dress in beautiful red and blue, with a lining in white. The merchants of the temple surround him, and some of them are drawn back in terror as others continue to discuss. There are naked children and a woman with her breast bared. She is carrying some sort of basket that is on a pole. There’s also a naked man and half naked man. Everyone who is dress in this painting is cloaked in very rich colors, such as blue, yellows and red. These colors are very prominent through out the painting. One of the interesting things about this paintings is that Jesus is suppose to be very angry in this scene in the bible, but El Greco paints his face as being very calm, almost stoic. He is casting out these moneychangers out of anger but El Greco paints his face with out a frown or a smile, showing actually no emotion at all. Now that I look at it even closer the only people who seem to have any fear on their faces are the three people to the left of Jesus. With the exception of the lady who is sitting on the step next to the birds in the cage, who has a look about her as if she is saying “really man why are you being so scandalous?” all the other patrons of the temple don’t really seem to be paying any attention to Jesus. The lady, by the birds, also looks as if she may be a bit aroused by the action that is taking place. What I really find fascinating by this painting is the deep space with in it. To the right of the painting it goes far back into the temple and to the left it goes even further back out past the courtyard and back behind the city. The skies are very blue and the clouds present seem as if they are just passing by. The buildings in the painting are influenced by the roman era. The buildings have many columns, round arches, clerestories, simple buttresses, thick walls and vertical and horizontal lines. These building are very high and are probably in the richer part of the city. The portal of the temple has checker-boarded pattern with what looks like could be both marble and stucco made of adobe. El Greco paid great attention to the highlighting and shading when he painted this image. The highlights and shadows are emphasized in the bodies of the people in the temple. It’s interesting how he shows the direction of the light. He shows it as if it were coming from the right side of the painting. Yet the sun seems to be setting in the back of the painting way off in the distant on the left side of the painting. In the lower right hand of the painting El Greco put Titian, Michelangelo, Giulio Clovio and Raphael. These guys appear to be the wise men in this painting. They are present but they seem to be complete detached from the theme of the painting. Which is an interesting insertion into the painting. I would probably say that was a personal touch by El Greco as these guys were probably his hero’s. This is one of possibly four known depictions of this scene in the bible by El Greco. This one though, is one of only two that is actually signed by El Greco. You can see his signature underneath Jesus on the step. Some of the highlights featured in this painting are the spiritual intensity, lighting, the manipulation of space, the distortion of figures and movement. Some of the symbolic meanings in the picture are very subtle and unless you were looking for them you probably wouldn’t notice them. For instance, the doves in the cage are symbols for Aphrodite. Also in conclusion I find it interesting that according to the bible, this scene takes place in Jerusalem, but El Greco paints this scene in a renaissance city view, somewhere in Italy. Which is why it has such a Romanesque style to it.

and the fourth essay:
18th Century OBJECTS: Portrait of Countess Maria Theresia Bucquoi, née Parr
Portrait of Countess Maria Theresia Bucquoi, c. 1793 Oil on canvaws Marie Louise Elisabeth vigee-Le Brun
Of all the paintings I have done for this final paper, I would say that this is the most beautiful one. It is of Countess Maria Theresia Bucquoi who is sitting on a chair with stunning scenery behind her. By the way she is dressed you know she comes from wealth. She is fitted in a beautiful satin dress with a silky shirt underneath with ruffles around the neck. She has an orange sash wrapped around her waist with a big bow tied around the back of her. The scarf or head dressing is a white thinly veiled material, with embroidery around the edges. The shoulder shawl is long and velvety. The gold trimming on the edges are just simply lovely. She is dressed perfectly as a Countess. She sits upon her chair as if she has all the time in the world. She sits patiently and gracefully. Looking at her she makes me feel like I am the painter and she is fully trusting my artistry and eager to see what I how I have depicted her loveliness. She is very serine in her stare. Though her eyes look a bit lonely. But she is ok with it. Her hands are poised about her very nonchalantly with her right hand up to her face and her left arm resting in her lap. She is very poised and looks as if she has been schooled in charm school. She looks like she comes from the upper crust of society. Her legs are not crossed, but position side by side, like a lady. Behind her are billowing rolls of hills and mountains. The grass is very green. There is great distance in this painting that allows you to go back very far. It allows you to imagine that all that is hers. What I don’t understand is the white streaks that run down the second mountain, my guess is that it is of rivers. The layers in this portrait are just amazing. It gives you sense that it is in 3D. Another thing about this portrait is the lighting. It again show the light as if it is right before her but you can tell that the sun is behind her by the lighting in the sky. It looks as if she has a spot light on her. With the shadows going of to the right of her, but behind her there are no shadows. Marie Louise Elisabeth portrait of her is very naturalistic. She portrays Maria in a very beautiful light. Marie Louise painted this portrait in 1793. She was the premier portraitist for the French aristocrat. This painting was commission by The Countess’s brother Prince Wenzel Paar, while Marie was on a visit to Vienna. It was painted on a canvas that is 53 ½ inches high and 39 inches wide. It is one of the first portraits that became famous for the detailed scenery behind it. She was the first artist to use this style of painting, which has gone on to be a popular style even to date.

on the last day of classes, before break, I was talking to a friend and he asked me, "Jew what do you think is going to happen on the 21st." I told him i didn't know but what i would like to happen is for the consciousness over everyone to open up and see each other truely. Like an idea that was experienced by EVERYONE at the same time. I wanted this idea to cause the mass conscious to create "Love 4 one another" and we would all live in a beautiful state of consciousness/reality.
one of my teachers was standing there and she said to me "your cute, with a child like imagination. She said it was really honorable for me to believe in something like that, but it wasn't going to happen." She said that war no longer has a human connection to it. Wars are being fought today as if it were a video game. The players don't have to physically engage in the brutality." She went on to say that next big evolutionary change for man is in his fingers. She said that man's fingers are becoming more adptable to text messaging. Our fingers are adptaing to the funtion. She then said that the next will be our eyes. Which are becoming more and more suited for viewing video screens, like compter screens and televisions. Our eyes will adapt to the light, radiation and messages the screens give off.
She then looked at me and said you really sad or really tired.
I said both. i knew why i was so tired having pulled 3 all nighters this week studing, but the saddness i didn't understand. That is until i got home.
i went straight to bed and slept for 2 hours. when i woke up i was sadden by events that day that proved what she she had sad eariler.
i felt like one of those children who's dream was taken away.
how can i be so selfish to have such silly dreams.

ANDROGYNINE,
I have thought about this for a long time. When i was in california, after finishing the walk, a friend had asked me, "what are you going to do now?" When she asked me my mind was clear and i knew exactly what i wanted to do. I told her that i wanted to go back to New York City victorously and tell all my friends that there was nothing in the world that they couldn't do. I wanted to tell them this face to face so that they could see the conviction in my eyes and believe that i knew it without a dout. I then told her that i wanted to go back to school and get my degree with film making as my major and photography as my minor. I even told her where i wanted to work afterwords. She looked at me smiling and said you will do everything that you just mention and your going to be great at it. I said to her "ahhh girl please."
Since then ANDROGYNINE you came into the picture and you have help me to get to where i am now. A senior in college with a 3.6 grade point average. I have a new life, with lots of great friends and a whole new perspective on who i am, and what my capabilities are. Which are endless.
I have a great profolio that includes my photography and film work. I have build a great relationship with my collegues, being fellow students and professors. I have volunteered my work in the community here in Minneapolis that hopefully will encourage other children to go out and make their dreams come true.
I am taken serious by my peers and most of all respected. I have photographed the likes of Dave Chappelle, Janet Jackson, TV on the Radio, Fiona Apple, President Obama, Olivia Newton-John as well as others. I have made great connections professionally, and i have done all this while remaining true to myself.
I have had several images published in accredited publications, been selected to have projects viewed at film festivals, a piece shown at The Guthrie, and i have work that has been placed in the Smithsonian.
Now ANDROGYNINE i am not saying all this to blow my own horn, but in the song Cream, the saying goes, "you got the horn so why don't you blow it." So i am blowing that joker as if i were Miles Davis himself. What i am really saying ANDROGYNINE is this.. The whole time doing this my thought process was this. "I am a member of The New Power Generation" and though i am not worthy to be on the stage, i have done everything to the best of my abilities to be in the room documenting the experience.
My DREAM internship would be an intern at Paisley Park. I as far as i am concern in this line of "business" Paisley Park is the most high. It's a place where dreams come true and considering i have been living this dream for such a long, long time it would only be fitting to awaken in a place that has help me find my way through some of the most complicated times of my life.
Besides ANDROGYNINE It would be EPIC!!!! I will be continueing my education learning from the BEST! Being apart of the BEST, growing with the BEST and the whole time, living and owning my dream. I would be giving my ALL and then some for the time of my internship.
In a nutshell there you have it. My dream internship.
how do i make this happen ANDROGYNINE?

ANDROGYNINE,
Here is a look @ that concert. It's still needs some things but it is pretty cool being just in the raw, unmanipulated.

DreamFirstBorn, Jew
There is a nation of Angels on your side. Dream BIG because when they come true and they will, you will find your self on the other side of the gates.
See you on the inside.

it's all about LIFE as we know it.
Define your LIFE in the book of life your name is written and with that name comes a defination of LIFE.

"in an altered state of conscious mind i was shown a book. It was as an enormous dictionary. I was filled with an infinite listing of words. Each of these words had an orgin and a definition. Some of these words read like a novel, some were full of mystery, some were full of adventure, others were like beautiful colors i have never seen. Some of these words flowed like poetry from the furthest tips of my imagination, were tragedy ends with hope and joy. As i began to understand the meaning of these words, they became something new, something NEW to me. It was like a veil was lifted from my eyes. I saw for the first time these words were names and i felt them all around me, i wasn't alone. For the first time i felt at home. when i came to the end, I closed the book and on it's cover was written LIFE. That's when i realized i was within a dream."
