A Brief Interview with Chri$topher
the man, the music, the future

Have you ever met someone who eat, sleeps and breath music? A person with passion, who isn't limited to only a sound that reaches his front porch? A person who's fire burns and music ignites the flame? If you haven't, you must meet Chri$topher also know as mistajinx, a 20-something year old music-head who loves what he does and gives passion a man beyond his years. When he sings love, you feel it. When he's done with love, you know it and when things seem at their worst, he gives you hope. This is a brief yet intimate encounter with the man behind the music.

With this release how have you matured and how is it different from other releases?
From current reviews, I'm reading that I've matured vocally the most. I've been trying to do a "spirtitually HIGH" album since the second one... and it never really works for me LOL. Last time I had the "Stop" record... which was sooo real to my life then, but no happy lyrics. This time it's happier... DIFFERENT but still true to my GRIT. This album is ME NOW... like The Ballou Sessions was me earlier this year... and Imperfect Angel was me in 2006... This album is like Imperfect Angel part two, as far as sequencing & vibe... alot less samples though. I used a lil live instrumentation this time. *giggle*

What do you want your listeners to get out of your music?

Don't try to understand me, I'll forever be misunderstood. I just sing what I feel, and sometimes what I feel doesn't make a lick of sense to the next person. Just enjoy the music, the melodies, the trip. Just view EARTH from another point of view. If you like it COOL BEANS, but if not I understand that too. I may have to catch you next time around. I definitely want you to listen though. There are oftentimes hidden messages in music, don't let it fly over your head.

This time around who has influenced your sound and why?

Love interest, GOD, losses, the whole THIRD COAST, water & sun, Al Jarreau, boxes of thumbtacts, life, Willy Wonka, P-Funk, Junye Butler... you name it.. it's all there. I'm influenced by everything I listen to. I'm singing poetry in the middle of the album. I may lose some listeners there. But that's okay too. These days I'm highly influenced by this poet by the name of Marvin K. White. The fella is dope. Period.

What song best describes how you feel at this very moment?
"Concentricity"... maybe you guys will hear that track one day LOL... but um... it's a poem written by Marvin K. White and I liked it so much I sang it over this beat Michelle gave me. The "circles and circles and circles" is very true to my life right now. I would share that one but the quality is so poor, I wouldn't dare. It was really recorded for my personal listening.

How long was the recording process and shed light on your experience with writing and getting the music together?
We recorded in 2 days... and I walked away on Monday with waaay more material than I thought I would, thanx to Kain, and my newfound patience and my hunger and all that good shit. I wrote 80% of what you hear on the spot. Some of the stuff come from ideas I had in the past or stuff you may have heard in the past... I try to step out but stay true. Hopefully a few smiles cracked when a familiar riff or line was heard. I recorded some of it here in my hometown also. Like "Top Of The World" and the "Fly Suite" was recorded here. The music was there. Michelle was constantly sending me shit. I had stuff I never got to use, and pulled it out & did what I felt was hip. The Killa Cam sample was DUE!!! LOL, I have been trying to record that song for about 2 years now ("Summer Madness"). Then life threw me another experience previous to putting the finishing touches on it. It was basically DONE already, but I wanted to add the verse. Rest In Peace Micah Robinson. I did a Natalie Cole remake which sort of "just happened." I was supposed to just remake the Amy Winehouse track, but I decided against it at the very last minute, and then was the birth of "I Love You So '08" LOL.

How was it working with your collaborator?
Um... Michelle & I... we do the foreign exchange type of thing... she sends me the tracks, and I record either by myself or with my engineer/co-creator Joshua Ballou. This time... it was the same as last time LOL... there was a storm brewing.. it was just off timing... this time I feel like Kain got the best of me, and I got the worst of him. If you listen to the rain in the background on "Out Of My Mind".. that shit was real! There was a storm brewing back in my hometown of Alexandria, LA.. it rained all that day I recorded with Kain (back home)... but no rain in Texas... only rain on the track (shout out to GeeCee and RLC Productions for the track!) I'm grateful for the experience.

New album 1/1/2008.
