Comedy. I understand...We understand the idea of raising money for charity. Unfortunately, this charity will suffer.
I have a video camera, some empty Pepsi bottles, and a Fischer-Price Xylophone...would any of my fellow Orgers like to record a track to raise money for Mrs. Nelson's Charity?

Prince's Super Bowl performance isn't even on the front page... confused

I know - go figure! Makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I knew I wasn't the only one wondering about this! If this and P getting a Golden Globe is on the front page then so should the SB perfomance. I don't really understand why the mods haven't done that... confuse

Wow, such nice responses for an independent artist who is donating money to a non-profit.

While I understand typos need to be fixed but if the music/video isn't your taste in music then whatever, this guy is at least doing SOMETHING to help his fellow man, what are YOU doing? Then, the guy that programs the web site that hosts this and donated his time (The NFO guy) is another person that's done something without being payed.

Here's a thought; maybe offer constructive feedback to make things better or offer suggestions as to what you've done to help people and what you've learned from your own experience in donating money from your art.

Show a little respect, damn.

Y'all who think this shouldn't be on front page need to shut up.

U respect talent, yet seem to have a problem with some1 on the front page who has created something INSPIRED by the talent U people respect.

Check out Dreamfirstborn/Jew, U might be surprised.

I don't think anyone has to "shut up", and I certainly believe those who oppose the placement of this "news story" have every right to do so.

I do think the real question posed to those in charge of such decisions should be:

Will other members of this news group be extended the same courtesy in having their personal "talents" displayed on the front page? Of course, I ask with the caveat that they do, in fact, benefit a "charity"...rolleyes

Respectfully,

Strike

I respect people who are passionate about their art and music, and I respect even more those few who actually complete projects and present them for the world to see, love or criticize. More power to you, I wish you luck with your project.

With that said, I don't see that this is an appropriate front page topic. This isn't exactly a slow week for Prince news, and even if it was, I don't think this would be a logical choice.

No offense meant, honest.

Hi friends,

Many of you probably never heard of JEW, and while you may not understand this work, the man is a very intelligent man and a very creative man, for this is not his first work. He has been featured on other New Funk Order projects, with the best (imo) being on Project One titled "Burnin' Up" which also has a corresponding video- this song is almost like a psychological thriller expressed through song. You should hear it and see the video.

Regardless of what you may think of this current experience, JEW is talented. He's not "American Idol" talented, but I don't want him to be. I don't want to be either. Expression is personal, not commercial.

The reason that it is on the front page is because most all of the New Funk Order produced projects, since the New Funk Order originated on Prince.org, have been put on the front page. This Prince.org musician's forum exists because one member (ahem....) proposed it and another member seconded the motion, and out of that forum was born the New Funk Order. JEW has been a participant in the projects from day one. He is excellent at guerrilla marketing, even to the point of getting a full poster of the New Funk Order on the Today show, posting flyers all over NYC promoting our projects, and travelling to Paisley Park, walking in the snow and cold, to hand deliver copies of our projects to Prince's staff.

Regardless of what you think of his sound, the man is talented.

Thank you,

JD

Amen. Well put JD. This guy is really going for it. I swear, if I did not have prior commitments (family to support) I'd make this guy my roomate. He deffinately inspires one to jump into your passions and I'll always love and respect this brother for that. He's got a great heart and he's starting to leave his mark.

Congrats my man.

I think what people are having trouble understanding with this is why an artist (whom most of us have never even heard of) gets his latest project advertised on the homepage. It would be different if it were someone that we had heard of before, such as Madhouse, The Time, etc., but let's be honest, most of us have never even heard of DreamFirstBorn before. And the fact that it's also been made a sticky is puzzling, since there are a lot of musician/artists on this website who never get their latest project on the front page or made into a sticky. It just doesn't make any sense to a lot of us.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Understood. Maybe you haven't been around long enough to remember that the New Funk Order stemmed from prince.org and these projects have been featured before. Just not in quite a while. Usually they are collaborative projects inspired from Prince's music. In this case, the collection of songs stem from Jew's interaction with many of Prince's associated people. Mani and Vanity for example. His last one gave to Sheila E's Little Bunny Foundation for abused children. Heck yeah, this kinda stuff should featured in my opinion because these are the possitive impressions Prince's music has left on people and not how he wore his hair last week.

I REITERATE. mad

Jew is one of the original ORGers for U newbies and asses out there.
He is heavily influenced by the works of the reason why you signed up to be a part of this site, along with a lot of ppl on the ORG Artists community.

Maybe if U people took some more time to find out WHY a so-called 'unknown' made the front page, U wouldn't bitch about it.

Get it together and discover what the New Funk Order was about.

Well, I certainly am not a "newbie" nor am I an "ass" for stating my opinion (which I am entitled to, the same as anybody else). I don't think it is necessary to call someone such names just because they don't have the same opinion as you do. I don't understand why you find it necessary to get all defensive, name call, and come to NFO's defense. We can't always agree about everything, and we need to respect each other's opinions, even when we disagree. That's all I have to say on this subject - I'm done.
