-+ Street Painting: THE DVD +-

::: VISIT WEBSITE :::

WATCH IT HAPPEN!
Watch as over 400 Artists use the pavement as canvas to transform downtown Lake Worth into a temporary outdoor museum of original art and masterpiece reproductions.

Watch the streets come alive as the artists transform the pavement into works of art. It happens the last weekend of every February in downtown Lake Worth, Florida.

STREET PAINTING
The great tradition of street painting began in Italy in the 16th century. A crowd would gather whenever an itinerant artist used his chalks to turn the ordinary pavement into a fine work of art. Although the "painting" would only last until the next rain, the tradition of street painting has endured over 400 years.

THE FESTIVAL
The downtown streets brim with over 200 street paintings, sponsored by businesses, organizations, and individuals. Artists fill the pavement with their works of art. The festival also includes strolling minstrels, jazz, classical music, dance, theatre, improvisation, and an array of street side cafes.

THE DVD
Coming up on the 12th year of this unique festival, in its history, it has never been documented properly until now! Together with the Greater Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce ( http://lwchamber.com ) as the official distributer, along with festival committee, we are bringing the festival to you! To get your copy, simply call (561) 582-4401 and our good friends at the Chamber will be able to process any credit card orders and ship your copy to you ASAP at no additional charge! (ps, tell Emily or Jody "Yamomma" sent you. They will get a kick out of that)

LIVE MUSIC!
What better way to complement your visual senses than that of sound! The Festival hosts a wide variety of LIVE music throughout the event. In addition to the performers you'll see in the downtown area, there is a full concert agenda at the Palm Beach Post Mainstage spanning the entire weekend.

Not too long ago, when you wanted to hear new and exciting music, you went to your local pub to catch the buzz from your own hometown bands. Unfortunately, in today's digital music industry, we've conformed to so much "top 40" type play lists that we've lost the magic that happens in a live setting that captures original material of an impromptu performance. It is festivals such as this that keeps opportunity for bands that are still keeping that alive.

With over two decades in the music industry, Frank Axtell is a renowned guitarist, composer and teacher and is a major contributor to the south Florida jazz-fusion scene. He performs with his own jazz ensemble, The Frank Axtell Quartet.

Frank is joined by keyboardist Jackson Bunn, bassist Randy Ward and drummer Lewis Rainbow. To find out more about Frank Axtell and to listen to his music, please visit http://www.frankaxtell.com .

PROCEEDS
Portions of the proceeds go to art scholorships for Lake Worth Highschool as well as a fund set up for the family of bassist Randy Ward's son Gavin Ward who lost his battle with a rare cancer last April the day after his 2nd birthday.

STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL 2006

I'm sure you guys find this painting familiar.

Cbabi Bayoc
Cbabi will be attending this year's festival as one of our featured artists. I had the honor of talking to this cat on the phone a few months ago and told him more about the festival and how we'd love to have him this year. I cannot WAIT to see what this man will do.

Since becoming a full-time artist in 1995, after graduating from Grambling State University, Cbabi has stayed true to himself by creating what he enjoys.

His name, which is an acronym for Creative Black Artist Battling Ignorance and Blessed African Youth of Creativity, allows others to realize his mission and blessing in life. Through his artwork, he is able to show his passion for both music and human expression.

After working as a caricature artist at Six Flags Over St. Louis, in 1997, Cbabi pursued a career as an illustrator. His first big client was Rap Pages magazine. During the entire year of 1998 he was given the RPM section on a monthly basis to display a caricature of the feature artist. Because of that job, he was approached by Violator Management to do the cover of the Violator Compilation, Vol.1 album (people still remember the cover to this day).

Over the years, Cbabi has had the pleasure of working with many more famous and not-so-famous folk. All are equally appreciated. Some clientele include Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, New Line Cinema, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, MCA Records, and singer, songwriter Prince.

Born in New Jersey, Cbabi has lived in Louisiana, Illinois, and Korea before making his home in St. Louis with his wife, Reine and children, Jurni Moon and Ajani Day.

Learn more about cbabi here: http://www.bayocstudio.com/

In 2001, I sent him some pictures of the festival and of my reproduction of his work.

These puppies are sellin'! Some people are buying more than one at a time.

Feels good that your work is being appreciated. One guy bought 4. Some for gifts and one he played at his holiday party on a big plasma screen TV as "background entertainment". Never thought about it being used as that. He said it was a great conversation piece at his party.

You will be ... No Doubt!
(If you or anyone can make it the last weekend of February, that is.)

What a unique event to have such a plethra of talent in one place. Artists from all sides of the spectrum come together to do what they do best whether it be visual or audio. Absolutely wonderful. In 12 years, this DVD is the closest you'll get to the real deal.

YOU WILL BE MOVED!

Aside from the front page, the website is old. It only took me a couple of nights to do the entire website and an afternoon to do the new front page.

Thanks on the committee pic. The old pic was me in a tie. Not me, although tis what I wear most daytime working hours.

Festival is just around the corner. Hopefully there's still time to finish that calendar I was working on. That would be a good seller too.

poo-poo news ...

Cbabi Bayoc can't make it.

Kinda stinks cause one of his works is going to be on the cover of the newspaper insert as well as a half page article I wrote on him inside.

Instead of pulling the article, we are changing this year's featured artist to NEXT year's featured artist.

He was pretty animate about being here for the next festival.

A little sad, but ... I got to meet a really cool soul whos work I greatly admire and I really look forward to staying in contact with Cbabi. This event only gets better every year anyway!

Sucky news, but I'm sure the festival will still be a huge success. Plus, you will be drawing and I know you can hook up some art!
