He should get the website updated:

http://kipblackshire.com/

It was originally reported that Kip was recording a Prince composition for a future album release - does anyone have any news on this?

actually the baldheads album was kewl, just too short. passin your name, under the same cloud, great songs. dvs was tryin to be a lil too much like eminem, but he did it without cussin. i hoped they would release a full length album with some better trax but then they just disappeared. kip is great, and hopefully the baldheads will come with somethin.

You both took the words out of my mouth. I went a launch party of NPGMusicclub in Chicago and had to suffer through the Baldheads AND Millenium before being rewarded with a surprise Prince performance!
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

it's actually millenia.. but who's counting...

baldheads weren't great, but maybe they have regrouped and are going to be better. and if not, oh well. they are doing something they love and getting paid.

Because we took a gamble that Prince would perform afterwards...It was at a small venue (Park West) and Prince was guarenteed to be in attendance. Tickets were only $35 so we figured we'd take the chance that we might get a Prince concert...and we were right!

Secondly, I am open to other music--I thought I might like the Fonky Baldheads (I mean if they were Prince's house band, they must be decent, right?), it was only after listening to them and Millenia that I made my decision.

Finally, I never stated that they weren't funky, or even good, for that matter. I meant that I, personally, didn't enjoy listening to FB & M for over 3 hours while waiting to find out if Prince would perform.

I find Kip Blackshire to be extremely talented. His sound is super tight, melodic and funky. When i heard him at Paisley Park i remember thinking that i hadn't heard anything like it since first hearing Stevie Wonder. And even then i could tell that his sound was his own. Not only is he an excellent musician, his new CD Eleventh Hour is TOATL FUNK. Take a listen and You are gonna Love It!

The Fonkybaldheads are indeed that: FUNKY. yes
If anyone disagrees i would have to say we must have different types of hearing ability.

Their performance at the Quest only made me hungry for more. I love Kirk on drums and this band makes me wanna dance. dancing jig

Oh, and besides being on the leading edge of the funky stuff, Kip and the band are a treat to look at. They most definitely have been working out and with the body in that good of shape we know the mind isn't far behind!

woot! guitar headbang

thumbs up! flower
