Moderator | New NFO Video: "Blues for Threse" by Frank Axtell ::: WATCH NOW ::: or click here to save to your desktop (44.2 MB) Don't have quicktime? Why not? So here's the first of what I hope to be a lot of great videos pouring out of the 'ol studio. The song should be familiar to most of you from New Funk Order: Project II, "Blues for Threse" by Frank Axtell. The video was shot in the vocal room and edited with all the latest HD gear. This was more or less a test run in the learning process of all the new gadgets. I probably could have messed with the codec options until the cows came home to get the file size lower, but this is what I could come up with and retain the crisp HD quality. Enjoy! 60 megs, wow!
Very cool and impressive. A couple of suggestions, the mountian footage seemed to go down is resolution and was noticable compared to the other footage. (Where did you get that stuff? the underwater stuff was really cool) and the other thing is a pet peeve of mine but it seemed that the video didn't line up with the audio in some parts. As a guitar player, it got to me but it probable doesn't you, so whateva. Thanks for sharing it and again, very cool.. | |

To do the video, Frank was playing back to his own track and there were a few moments where it was like "what did I do there?" I didn't give him ANY time to reherse it either. There were two camera angles shot then sanwiched over each other and toggling back and forth. I should have omited those mistakes that I didn't really catch until it was all wrapped up. I'll probably go back and fix it, just not real soon. The resolution is fine during those shots, but the interlacing of the video is more obvious there because the frames per second was slowed down to 20 percent. Didn't come out the way I planned it in that spot. But like everything, you learn these things by making those mistakes. As for the Scenic shots, didn't you know I was a world traveler? (Joking) A library of HD footage came with Final Cut Pro HD, the software used to edit this. Like I said, this was more or less my learning curve assignment for myself. All Rights Reserved. |

thank you for sharing this p.s. show more of yourself next time! Jshua Thanks my man! This is more of a practice run for a bigger, better video we want to do, but we both agreed that the music should be the focus and we wanted imagery of the musicanship that goes into making songs and be the polar opposite of standard videos that focus more on showmanship. I think we found a certain "direction". You'll see something next month into what I'm talking about more when I record Frank's band with multiple cameras. The audio will be of the LIVE recording, so there won't be any guitar lipsyncing! All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | Awe shucks...
If you guys dig this, then I want to work double hard on what I have in my head for the next video that will be more themed based. I felt this was more slapped together as a learning exorcise but cool enough (the music, that is) to publish. This weekend is the Street Painting Festival in which I'm now a member of the committee and Frank will be the featured band on the mainstage. Check it out: http://streetpaintingfestivalinc.org I plan on recording a lot of footage (as well as being one of the featured artists, whew ... too many hats right now but what else is new) step by step as we put our paintings to the pavement with the choice cut of Frank's band and footage in the background. I can't think of anything that will come close to the visuals that you will see nor the master musicianship than that of our own local talents. You can't re-create this REAL life footage that will happen next weekend. Over 200 paintings and over 400 artists will lay it down on the pavement and Frank will be the soundtrack! This will be VERY special as it will cross-promote the festival, Frank's band and the Studio. Side Note: remember the guy that did the album cover for Prince's "The Rainbow Children"? He may very well be at next year's festival. I CAN'T WAIT!!! Then again if he's next to me, I'll look like crap! Then again, oil on canvas and chalk on pavement are like apples and oranges, so maybe I have something to teach the master! I'm too friggin' giddy! I'll shut up now. All Rights Reserved. |
