Prince's synth / keyboard sounds

Anyone here know what classic synths & keyboards Prince used? I'm trying to get some of the great sounds we here on albums like 1999, Dirty Mind, Controversy & Around the World in a day.

Surely someone here knows, or knows what keyboard / synth midi patches sound close?

Thanks!! I'd love some help with this!!

Heavenly

Oooh, that's an interresting question.
I keep ssing all these unique designed keyboards with him, except lately.
I see Renato using 2 Yamaha Motif keyboards, and I remember seeing a Korg Trinity at one point.
But the old synths? I hope someone can answer that.
Maybe we can e-mail Dr. Fink and ask him! biggrin

I've working on these for years smile. Well sort of.

i've asked this question and mostly the response is old analog Oberheim synths.
Maybe Prophet too.

I've looked Triton in the store and it has some patches called "obhorns" which sounds like some of ti, bu not all the stuff on 1999.

i think they put effecs on it too. if you find anymore let me know. Thanks

Thanks for that! Your advice doesn't surprise me, I tried some VSTi synths at a friend's place and I remember loving the Oberheim ones. So it's funny you should recommend those - I suppose you must be right then! Yeah, the synths do sound like they have a lot of effects on them. Perhaps think Chorus effects, definitely the odd Phaser effect, and some AutoPanning too. Actually, I wish we could email Dr Fink :p

Definately Oberheim synths. The VST of the Prophet 5 synth (which is very closely related to the Oberheims) called Pro 53 has some of these sounds.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

STIJNKRISTINE

In the parade tourbook you can see Dr Fink with a roland Jupiter or Juno synth.
Indeed The OB 8 synth is the one used on the early albums. In 86 he started using the yamaha DX 7 and during that same period the Fairlight.

He also started using the NORDLEAD very early when it came out late nineties.
The One is a good example of a nordleadsong.
