Not current members, but all members to date. I think in the forums, if you try to send someone a note, or search for someone, there's a drop-down box on 1 of the forms, you can save out the html code, and use word or excel to count all the ppl. I did this once a few months back and it returned over 20,000 members. The message you're about to hear is not meant for transmission
Should only be accessed in the privacy of your mind The words are intense so my dear if you dare to listen Take off your clothes Meet me between the lines

So that means all members from 2001-2003, those who joined every year counting three times? "How embarrasing to be human!"

No, if you changed your username, there is a record for each username...but if it stayed the same all three years, you are only in there once...make sense? Also, there's no way for us to differntiate users who have multiple active accounts... The message you're about to hear is not meant for transmission

I just double-checked with "HotThang's method", my result: 27'748 different entries.
So this means _at least_ $693'700 in cash for Mr. Nelson [27'748 x $25]. But surely a big part of the members stayed for more than 1 year, the first years were $100, and a lot didn't change their username. So the actual figure should be much higher. ...!

I also did the same 'proof of concept' and came to 27.757. I did it yesterday so that means that they gained 9 new members between the time you checked and the time I checked. Now let's start messing with the figures... Let's say that on average 10 new members join a day. They started with year 3 on March 23rd last year so that's 332 days, which results in 3.320 new members. Now I am assuming that they are getting more new members at the moment than normal because of possible presales for the new tour, but my guess is that the events last year (releases, small tour) also added some members. Let's say that there were about 1.500 people that joined the club because the price is lower now. Adding that to the 3.320 is rufly 5.000 new members this year. This is a 'best case' calculation, because I think this number is way to high. That would leave us with about 22.500 members for year 2. Let's say that in the second year about 7.500 new members where added so that leaves us with 15.000 members for year 1. Now to add it all up: Year 1 15.000 x $100 = $1.500.000 Year 2 22.500 x $100 = $2.250.000 Year 3 27.500 x $ 25 = $ 687.500 ----- Total $4.437.500 I know that the above mentioned figures are not accurate at all. They are all based on assumtions, even of the 27.757 current entries in the 'addressbook' it is not sure if they are all currently active members. It could very well be the complete list of used aliases from all the years combined. All the members that did not continue their membership should than be substracted... But even if you substract 25% of the grand total it still is a nice sum of money. PS The above mentioned figures are just an estimate of the income of the NPGMC, the resulting net profit could still be non existent. [This message was edited Thu Feb 19 14:29:21 2004 by rvthof]
