"Suporting the Cause" from Vermillion, Oh

Opening up the mailbox and expecting to see the new DVD, there's a package in there from the NPG people in Vermillion, OH filled with a few goodies. T-Shirts and such for sending in some of the items they were requesting.

Quite a thank ya' from them! I didn't have to spring for postage!

Ahh. I feel better now.

Let the flaming begin!

Ever heard of "damage limitation"?

Glad you got some stuff (by the way, can you please expand on the goodies description?).

Anyone also notice that the "fams" who post the positive stuff have had so few posts on the org?

They register, say nothing, until a major "props" is due.

Not saying is all fixed, but there does seem to be a pattern.

Sweet!!! I was hoping that they would do something like this. I almost sent in a "token" package so I would get whatever freebie they might send out, but I thought that would be pretty damn tacky.

I'm glad to see that Prince knows how to say thank you. Makes the whole email fiasco seem a lot less harmful, although I still think it was bizarre, to say the least. But no reason to beat that dead horse, I suppose.

Good for you, OrionRising!! What t-shirts did you get, and what other goodies? That must have been quite the pleasant surprise.

Well, I've never been inflexible! wink I think that if the club is sending people a freebie package of Prince goodies in exchange for those people sending in the requested music, then that shows respect in a way that I felt the original email and response to the melee did not.

Hell, I'd love to change my opinion of the club altogether...all they have to do is concentrate on releasing music for the fans and I'd be a huge supporter.

Hell, I'd suck PeePee9's cock for a copy of Roadhouse Garden. I'm not sure what that has to do with this post, but I thought that it needed to be put out there.

Me neither, but I figure we should all go on record now, so that PP9 can compile a proper list and know what to expect from each of us in exchange for a copy of Roadhouse Garden.

I'll start:

Blue Angel: B.J.
One MoJam: Handshake.

Anyone else?

Could that possibly be because when one has something "positive" to say, they are flamed, insulted, ridiculed, labeled or just plain made to feel bad?

Think about it.

No flame, but why did you send stuff in? Did you feel guilty about having boots? I just can't see why anyone would have done this.

The goodie bag had two T-shirts. I sent in three separate packages: a French import Cream/Horny Pony CD with the WB label which was not on their list, I had never seen this specific CD on Ebay so I knew it was difficult to find. One of the German CD's they requested, and one 2CD bootleg which I had extras of. They all had been gathering dust on my shelf for eons, I've completely made the switch to mp3's. Guilt for having Boots? heck no. No guilt, no regrets. I sent them in because they asked and I didn't need them anymore.

And yes, there is another type of Prince fan, of which I am one of them. We happily lay out $200 to see Prince live, don't whine about DVD quality, been NPGMC members since day one, understand that on occasion shipping from NPGMC may take more than a week, are NOT addicted to the internet, and have happy sex lives.. most importantly, we understand that arguing and complaining on the net is nonproductive. and If I meet ya' in real life, I'll happily buy ya' a beer or ask ya' to dance.

Strangers are just friends ya' haven't met yet.

Of course you're not going to complain about the quality of the DVD if you'd rather listen to lossy compressed mp3's than CD's.

Yes, non-hostile if you don't consider calling someone addicted to the internet and having an unsatisfying sex life an insult. The problem I personally have with some of the positive crowd is that some of you guys always seem to slip a slant against someone else in your post. In the post that started this thread, the writer so much as tries to bait people into saying something negative. It would have been just as well to say what you got and left it at that, but no.

- My sex life is fine.

- That's nice you will give Prince any amount of money, and not care what he gives you in return or when, be it a sub-par product, overpriced ticket, or delay shipment 8 months. But that's not how most consumers do business.

- I'm a web developer, so the "internet" is my job.

- Arguing and complaining ARE nonproductive. People outside your "group" understand that too. We also see when people who like to put on a "positive" front, also jump at the opportunity to take sugar coated jabs at people, which isn't very nice or "positive".

I just wanted to note that "the other type of Prince fan" doesn't really care about quality. Not quite a dis, and not meant to be aggressive.
