DVD Problems?

Perhaps somebody can help me...

Ive just received my Aladin Show DVD and the picture is absoloutely terrible. I knew people said it was bad but something makes me think that mine must have soemthing wrong because I cant see how a DVD could be so shabby.

Has anybody else got a really blurred and grainy picture which looks quite blocky.

That's is what everyone is complaining about my friend.

Don't worry though...some fam will join this thread and tell you that you should be happy that Prince even allowed you to BUY this DVD and that it is actually better because it is of poor quality and how short it is.

Have to say, my DVD is fine. I enjoyed every minute of it. Don't think mine can be the only one that is ok.

I cant understand it...the downloads form the site are better quality than my DVD is showing (Ive tried it on all of my players in the house)!!! It seems REALLY grainy and even teh black bars around the picture are crap quality. The thing is that Ive changed my disc since I first started this thread and its still the same.

Is it in the NTSC format. If it is maybe that is why. Either your dvd playas and/or TV's arent compatable.

Are you serious?
I might have one as well then. My DVD has a really bad picture, but after reading all the info. here I assumed it was all of them.

Got my copy from a UK shop, as I was concerned with getting a PAL version. The sound quality is terrible. I don't know if it is the disk or something with my computer, all I do know is that I feel really disapointed and mad

Wow, even Therapy's disappointed with the quality. Sorry to hear that.

If the sound quality is bad, it is a problem with the PAL disc or your equipment. The sound is actually good for a 2.0 Dolby product. I have several PAL discs that dont have the quality of the NSTC version. I have found this to be the case with some CDs from Europe as well. Japanese pressing always seem to be better quality.

Finally watched it last night. The sound quality is really quite good.

On the other hand...

I'm dissapointed by the song choice and the lackluster performance, as well as his cringe-worthy Ozzy dance.
What's next? A Stephen Hawking dance?

The picture looks like a 5th generation VHS that was taped using EP mode.

I noticed that Best Buy had ass-loads of the DVD ready to sell. There goes his casual audience. I'm embarassed for Prince. I'm shocked that this long-time perfectionist would think that this is an acceptable release. This was recorded in the 21st Century, not 1983.

Hey Prince, you didn't want to go out with the Black Album being your last offering.

Better pull something out of your hat quick, to make up for this bag of purple shit.

Am I the only one that noticed:

a) It fluctuates wildly in terms of volume?

b) You have to crank your TV ALL THE WAY UP most of the time? When I shut off the DVD player, the fucking television shattered my windows.

There is that. You're actually better off experiencing it on INFERIOR equipment. Strange from the man that basically makes it so that you REQUIRE broadband internet access to experience his website.

That's a bit strong, but justifyable, based on Prince's own statements, promises, criticism of other artists...etc...etc...

He doesn't seem to enjoy being held to HIS OWN STANDARDS very much.

It really is an outstanding performance, but I can't help but compare it to the 2 DVD (SIX HOUR LONG) Led Zeppelin set I recently purchased for $25.

It suffers greatly in that regard. Shit...it suffers greatly compared to Rave 2000 as far as I'm concerned...

Like I said...mine was terrible qulaity sound and picture (just as many have described) and it wasnt until I want back to the store and exchanged it for my 3rd copy that these problems seem to have stopped.

My only conclusion is that there must be a dodgy batch going around - this would explain why some people cant understand what all teh fuss is about and others cant understand why people wont listen to them when they say they are unhappy with teh dvd.

I did notice that the quiet parts are really, really quiet and I did have to bump the sound in those sections. But my favorite classical music has me doing this too, so I'm kind of used to it.

Plus I couldn't really crank it 'cause my wife was gettin' her sleep on...

Mine is also fine. Granted, it's not top quality, but it's not nearly as bad as some have described on this site. The performance kicks ass too!!
