NPGMC Website Design

Personally i think the design of Prince's website is getting old and needs some refreshing!!

It's been a while since the site was overhauled and i just think it looks dated compared to a lot of other more flash-enabled sites.

Change the font, lose those character graphics, lose those banners, change the whole navigation of the site and for God's sake increase the bandwidth so it downloads the same friggin day you hit the link!!!
oralI sincerely want 2 fuck the taste out of your mouth oral

I know I'm going to be picked on because of what I'm about to say.. but I like it!.. I know they could do better but I'm not complaning!! Its an OKAY web design, I bet Prince pays a lot of $$$ to the web designers.. - As far as the $100, I think its totally fair! I DO NOT regret spending $100 on year 2002... I think it was worth every peny.. and I'm going to join again if there is a membership 2003!

Yeah needs updating but he needs to listen to the fans. When I visit a Prince site, I expect to find news about Prince lol no chance. Also, a html version is totally esential, most slow computers crash when they view that site.

It would be great to see a totally new site design for the new membership year!

I for one, cannot stand flash sites. They take even longer to load - to me that website needs less graphics, and more content.

They have some great features on it, but it's hard to navigate, and everything that is important is in small print.

Let's hope a speedier one is in the works!

The bloated graphics and flash are there to make the site look substantial, when you strip them all away there's practically no content.

I think it is yuk just to have the retail section available.
and I think they ought to have pictures of Prince instead of those stupid 'cartoons' like pictures.

JC, could you describe it a little? I remember several...the white one was love4oneanother (right?), and the one you are talking about was tiny, orange/red...? I've recently stumbled upon an old archive of this somewhere, can't find the link now.

Is that the one?

I agree with you but as a web designer myself, your sites gotta look da shit if you wanna bring in the hits & flash & graphics are an easy way to do that.

The hardest thing about designing a site is to implement the necessary graphics & flash for it to attract attention without making it too much for slower computers, all about finding the balance.

I think if you are Prince, truly the flash isn't necessary. I'm not saying a site with no graphics, but any website that takes long to load just makes me close the browser and go elsewhere - no matter who it is.

Look at Prince.org...Amazon.com...eBay...Yahoo.com...Retail.com's...heck all the heavily used websites, as they know people are generally quick to move along if the site takes too long.

Good sound web design is based on properly selling the type of site you have...in my eyes, the only sites that really need all that stuff is web designer sites, because they need to wow their prospective employers.

Quick load time, inviting homepage (gets to the meat of the purpose of the website), as little clicks as necessary to get to other parts of the site, and minimal flash/graphics is generally the rule of thumb for the most popular websites...

biggrin

my own preferences, and seemingly that of the greater majority of online users
