Quite clear what happened

I think Prince did not get enough TOTAL revenue from the LotusFlower site (ie only a few thousand of us coughed up $77) which means he has lost interest as it will not make him any money.

We all know what a short attention span he has anyway.

And yes once again we all feel ripped off.

AND we are probably all saying "never again".

BUT come next year we will all (most of us) want our new Prince fix because we are purple junkies (and always hope "this year will be better")

I think if Prince priced the site at half of what he did, he would have probably at least quadrupled his subscribers. $31.21 is a tank of gas. $77 is groceries.

Prince would have to come with some hellava, top of the line, one hit and you're funked the fuck out, uncut, straight, stankonit, would make George Clinton hold his nose, FUNK to turn me out again and he just ain't got that in him. So I'll be passing on whatever his next money grab is and shaking my head at the rest of y'all.

It was the price. And the difficulty of getting in. Many waited and heard it was all poo poo and decided that they would keep their 77 bucks. Also since there was no tour announced, there really was zero incentive to join (You all know that that is like number one reason to join..to get access to tickets.)

During Musicology, I know MANY MANY MANY people who simply signed up and forked over the 25 just to get the tickets. I would even tell them abut updates and stuff, but they really didn't care.

Most fan club based sites have a free site and a "pay for" component. Usually the reason you join up is to get access to tickets before the general public.

Maybe he is waiting for the membership from this year to expire and will open the site to all for free, under the same name or a different one. Probably realized it wasn't worth investing anymore time into the LF site this year, because it limited reaching unpaid members who were fans. Not only that, the risk of fans ripping content from the LF site for is always an issue anyway.

Now with the way he's been giving official information to the Drfunkenberry.com site, he's able to reach a wider audience. Then there's the rumors of him making agreements with youtube to have his videos and other content shown there, is another wait and see, as how that will be displayed, as we've already seen Shelbey's youtube blog with content of one of his live performances, which obviously he must have worked an agreement out with her to post that content there, instead of on unofficial fan sites.

Maybe he is waiting for the current membership of LF to expire and will probably make the LF site free, once the current membership expires. I'm guessing that he will possibly provide youtube links yo his videos, and the info he's been giving to drfunkenberry's site, will probably be posted there instead or maybe he will continue to use drfunkeberry.com as a source for updated information. Ya just never know, it's basically a wait and see situation.
