NPGMC - A minority opinion

Well, for the record, I'm completely satisfied with the NPGMC with one exception, which i'll explain in a minute. I paid around £60 just before the concerts, on the basis that he was playing in London, and nothing would have stopped me seeing him. On top of which i paid another £60 or so to go to the gig. For that, i saw one soundcheck, one gig (row 8), and one aftershow concert (near front), as well as attending an aftershow party the previous night. For £120 i will never forget the experience. On top of all this, i've recieved an incredible live box set, that i think is very professional, and worth keeping. I don't collect bootlegs, so can't compare, but i'm more than satisfied with what i have. It came quickly, and has been an utter joy. The NPGMC have always been helpful, and i have no complaints, bar one. That was the complete fiasco with booking tickets to the London gigs. I wasted at least a day online trying to sort out tickets for the supposedly sold out gig, only to have NPGMC mail me that evening to say they'd made a mistake. In the mean time i'd bought Manchester ones, which they promptly refunded. So, all in all, i've been happy this year. If he does the same thign next year, minus gigs, i won't be interested, i don't think, but this year was just too good an opportunity to miss.

I know many of you have had a different experience, and have a right to bitch about it, but i'm sure there are a whole load more of you who share my feelings.

I am with you.

In fact, I wrote an e-mail to the NPGMC yesterday, thanking them for all I received for my $ 100!

If all satisfied NPGMC-members would let themselves be heard (in stead of getting terribly annoyed by all those complainers!) I think it would paint an entirely diffrent picture!

Im so very pleased u r yet ANOTHER satisifed customer/member of the npgmc. Im also extremley happy with the whole experience. I loved the concerts, i love my albums and the Box set is just first class! I cannot stand 2 hear "so called" fams moan and bitch about prince and the npgmc, how many of them joined 2 really just support Prince? If u actaully work out the cost of the membership it works out as around £0.18p per day!!! and yet still peopel say they r not getting value 4 money? Im sorry 2 all those who have genuine complaints and problems with the club, it isnt perfect! But i just wonder how many of these "im gonna sue Prince/ Lets start a Law suit...cowboys" r in the club 4 the real reason it was created!...Join the club yall!...it aint over

I was unable to go to any shows in the UK because I was in Thailand (nooo!!!) and I've not bought any merchandise. I haven't received any CDs yet and Lori just sent me this e-mail:

Dear Nick,

Fed Ex has contacted us saying they are unable to deliver your package.
Please call Fed Ex at 1-800-247-4747 and reference tracking #XXX.

Peace, Lori

But I'm not stupid. Whatever the problem is I am sure it will be worked out.

There are some things in the club that need to be improved but I'm actually quite happy with what I have gained from the club. It was joining the club that really got me into Prince properly, and led me to find the org. I haven't received anything as yet but I'm still satisfied with this year because I will get my box set and ONA in time.

There's no point just complaining. I will send NPGMC an e-mail towards the end of the year and I will be as fair as I see fit. There's a way to go about making things better and that's constructive criticism balanced with praise where it's due.

I'll wait for my CDs patiently, and in the meantime enjoy all the other wonderful things in life.

pray Have a good day all of you!

being in new zealand i did not get to see any concerts , but am still extremely satisfied with the first years of the club and will not hesitate to join again if there is a 3rd year, its a shame there are so many who always feel cheated, i bet there ancestors were running around with torches trying to burn withches 300 years ago.

:
I've stopped posting in threads of unhappy NPGMC members, and others who choose to condemn those who don't have bad things to say about the club. It only seemed to add fuel to the fire.

On the concert side, I was 100% satisfied with the club. My only complaints are lack of communication and the cd matter. Next year? I'll certainly support the club and Prince, but I do hope they'll improve...LISTEN TO OUR SUGGESTIONS Y'ALL!
cheers

Pro and con list..

Pro- we actually recieved 4cd's (barely)
good seats.. and soundcheck..

Con- Bad communication
uncertianty and doubtful on what we would actually recieve. The site didnt list any information regarding what the club was gonna offer next..oh yeah and did eye mention BAD communication between npgmc and their "Famunity"

its a matter of what weighs more.. the pro or con, and that should be the answer to if u would join their "club"

either way, its alll goood

I hope they don't close the club down for 2003. I hope they are working with a MARKETING firm and some LAWYERS that can help 2 make the club what it should be. Though I am satisfied with the club 4 2002, I hope that they do things similarly 2 Bowie and others who have done a club type thing.

Besides, it would be totally silly 4 them 2 close it completely now with the release of ONA Live. People will be trying 2 log on2 the site and it will b closed.

Maybe it's not such a minority opinion.

Very few people who are satisfied with a service take the time to write and show their appreciation... This leaves the unsatisfied customers to make all the noise.

Personally I am very satisfied with my membership. Good seats in London... Saw the Marquee aftershow for free (my first aftershow ever)... Thought the ONA Piano CD was quite good... And the box set is awesome. All in all, well worth 65 quid.

That said, I can understand why some people are annoyed and I think they have a right to be. Our Australian friends (and fans from many other countries that Prince didn't tour) basically got 1 Demo CD and the Live Box Set for $100. That's a lot of money.

The chance to go to the Celebration is a great idea... however not living in the US/having to take a week off work/abandoning the family makes it unrealistic for lots of us, so arguably that "opportunity" is worthless to some.

It's a classic case of not being able to please all of the people all of the time.

I lucked out at the last minute and got a chance to see a ONA show in Las Vegas. So from my calculations, I paid $250.00 total this year. $200 went for the Vegas soundcheck, main show and aftershow. $50 went for the ONA...Live Box Set and ONA Solo Piano And Voice CD. The club members who didn't have a show in their area are the ones with a legitimate beef and if he hadn't added the Vegas show I would have been on that side of the fence as well. It isn't fair to those members that they paid so much more and received so much less.

I wanna throw my two cents in as well. I joined the NPGMC this past year just in time for his Cleveland appearance. My $100 gave me the following for the year:

- The One Nite Alone CD (awesome disc to listen to while driving late at night - try it sometime)

- The One Nite Alone ... Live Boxed Set (need I say more?)

- A couple of cool downloads (OK two, but who's being picky?).

And for the cash I spent at the show plus my NPGMC Membership I got:

- A very cool soundcheck.

- To see the best Prince show I ever saw from the second row.

- One of his guitar picks (white pick with "Prince" logo in purple).

- Meeting Prince after the show!!! (He came strolling back out on stage about ten minutes after the show, I was up in the front trying to get said guitar pick and as he was walking off he saw me standing there wearing my NPGMC laminate and walked over to shake my hand. Not once but twice! We know he doesn't sign autographs or do photos, and conversation would've been rather difficult - especially since I was speechless. I think all of this qualifies as meeting the man. The only thrill that even came close to this was meeting MIck Jagger back in 1989).

All in all, money well spent I'd say!
Who's the private d*ck that's a sex machine to all the chicks?
Who's the man that would risk his neck for his brother man?
Who's the cat who won't cop out when there's danger all about?
John Shaft ... Damn Right!

I am very happy with the club, yes it has a few, things it needs to work out, but i think they will keep trying until they get it right. i do think they listen to the suggestions that are made, if they are made in a constructive way. This is how the year shaped up for me
front row tickets to buffalo show $100
Dancing and singing on stage with prince - priceless
one nite alone-piano (exclusive)
one nite alone-live box set(awesome)
Celebration 2002- 7 nites of prince-$250
club membership-$100
all money well spent, and if i have the opportunityto do it again next year i will. It's been a great year for me. Thanks for the positive thread.
