ATTN Lotusflow3r.com developers, THIS is a modern day Flash site

Compare the pathetic efforts of Lotusflow3r.com to http://www.bio-bak.nl/ and you'll know why so many people are considering Lotusflow3r.com OLD.

BTW Not that I particularly like the concept of http://www.bio-bak.nl/ , but at least it is far more interactive than LF. Still, sites like this are NOT a good idea: fun to see once, but repeated exposure is annoying.

Holy crap that's amazing. I wasn't expecting that scrolling system, incredibly impressive.

Ideally, if I were to design an interactive site like Prince's, I'd make a sort of challenging flashed-based puzzle game to go through, the first time (a la Interactive the VG). Once you unlock it, a basic index that can be viewed in html or flash and which is more practical. Just my two cents.

But yes, that flash site is remarkable, thanks for sharing.

I agree with you Bart, when you look at how quickly it loads (when it does load) and what's in it, you begin to wonder what kind of incompetent design LotusFlow$r is based on. With so little to it, LF shouldn't eat resources the way it does.

Much as the LotusFlow$r flash stuff is pretty, there should be the option to skip the (at this stage quite frankly really fucking annoying) intro and opt for bare-bones funtionality instead, but then it'd be an empty wasteland.

I guess this is what happens when you hand the design of your site over to a graphic designer rather than a web developer.

He is a musician, an artist. You listen to his music not go on his website the whole day. Its fine enough. You can find your music and your vids and thats all you need. Now stop whining about how much better it could be. Find me artists that have a website of the quality of princes.

I think I can agree with Bart here.
This isn't web 2.0 or other nonsense. Just applied technology.
Bart, do you know what are the server/developer side requirements for this?
And for the browser?
Any different than for the lotusflow3r site?

And when you contact them they're funny!!!

Hello.

I noticed you broke my contact form. I had to get the contact-form-fixer-guy to clean your mess up. That's gonna be $2000 please. Drop it off in a briefcase near the bridge or your wife's gonna get it.

Kind regards.

Dear Bart,

I don't want to pass judgement on either one of the sites...
I just have a question... What do you want to accomplish with threads like this one? Do you actually think that the developers of lotusflow3r will thank you and change the site...

I've been around the org for several years now and you've started several of these kind of threads, and i'm really just curious why????

ps. I don't think that everything on the org has to be positive about Prince, i think it is good to have criticism and i myself don't think the man himself is flawless...i'm just curious to your answer...

Why don't you offer your services to Prince and his team? You talk the talk, now you should walk the walk.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Why would he work for free?
Does Scott work for free?
Does Jill?
Just let him advise the group on a daily basis.

Well I'm glad the link was posted. It's good to see other sites and how competent some of them are. As for ease of use why do you think Google was such a hit (no pun intended) when there were plenty of other search engines around? Simplicity. No faff, just a simple screen with everything you needed.

Web 2.0 and lotusflow3r aren't really related though are they... I mean be honest with yourself. Takes an age to load and then uses up the whole of the computers resources. Even Halo doesn't use that much system resource on my old Mac. It's comparable to Second Life in fact!
