Wendy & Lisa new interview on their Myspace page

http://blogs.myspace.com/...=100695480

Excerpt

When I first went to Minneapolis to meet Prince and stay for what I thought would be just a few months, Prince picked me up at the airport. I walked off the plane... it was June. It was warm and a little humid. Prince was waiting for me. I could see him talking on a payphone... remember those? They were all over the place in the 80's... in fact i think it was 1980. I found out later that he was on the phone with his girlfriend, Kim, telling her what I looked like and what I was wearing... anyway... he picked me up and drove me in his little FIAT to his house in WAYZATA.

Cool story! Did Lisa say that? Just wondering, because I know she joined Prince's band around 1980, so that would make sense. smile

I love W&L interviews, they're always so honest and funny! Wish they would do a one-off gig with him.

Seriously, I think I'm going to collect all of these interviews they've been doing lately and bind them into a purple alligator skin covered book. I mean can u imagine if prince would pull the corn cob out of his butt and just relax and be as candid and open in an interview as these W&L ones have been? THAT would be worthy of an opus priced book. I know it will never happen though sigh .

Lovely as usual:

If Prince asked you to produce an album for him from scratch, what would you try to pull out of him that you haven't heard from him either of late or ever?

Wendy:

I have told him OVER AND OVER. I would do it in a NYC minute.

Lisa:

I would pull out more personal acoustic songs. Maybe get back to a more simple and raw expression without any worry about attitude, but only the innocent self discovery and honesty of self love, excitement of a beautiful chord, and softness that might be raging inside.

Like a picture of a prize fighter when he first wakes up in the morning.

This would be sooooo cool

All I can tell you is that I saw about one hundred middle fingers waving like a sea of corn cobs and then I got hit with a bag of fried chicken! I saw a blur run past me to the left... it was Prince! A bottle of Jack Daniels crashed down on the ground right between me and Bobby Z, we looked at each other and laughed hysterically and yelled... ''WHAT SHOULD WE DO!?!?!" I looked back over my shoulder and saw Prince running up the long stairway behind the stage... obviously OUTTA HERE, and the crowd was pummeling us with oranges and bottles and profanity! It was SCARY! We ended the song not knowing what to do... and... looked at each other. I think we all had the same thought, "RUN!" So we ran.

This is how amazing their musical relationship must have been when they did things like Sometimes It Snows In April.

I remember on the Symbol album tour, on the big screens there was a message that read "Wendy & Lisa, please phone home". I reckon Prince should be calling them now.

I don't know about U all but I am dying 2 see The Revolution performing with Prince again. Maybe if we could start sending e-mails, letters, blogs....hell just make enough noise about it perhaps he'd consider it. It appears everyone is game but Prince. I think we deserve it, dammit. We've stuck by him thick and thin. He could at least give us what we've been craving 4 damn near 20 years. This would include Dez Dickerson of course. Who's 4 it.

Great interview. What Wendy said about their performance at The Brits was exactly how I felt about it when I saw it. He had such a big opportunity to make a big deal out the three of them being together again for the 1st time since 1986. It turned out just to be the Twinz spazzing out like usual and W&L shoved to the back. SO disappointing.

LOL, now this is great!
I think we should get a full book about her time with the revolution.
That would be a fun read.

I enjoyed the interview and I like it how Lisa described her relationship I mean currently with Lisa, Wendy, and Renata ( and I am sure Susannah and Cole too) and give hinted of close sisterhood and bonding among them.

And also when the interviewer asked them about do they use other and Lisa and Wendy were talking about how not only they inspired each other but also were each other band's.

I also remembered Lisa's airport story with Prince years ago of the first time they met and how they barely talked when they was on their way to his house. Yeah they were shy but weren't when it comes to music.

Overall I enjoyed the interview.
