if it's too much of a hassle, I am sure some American fans would be willing to send it over to some of you guys. I'll probably end up sending it to four or five people.

and still end up saving money from buying it from our retailers

I wouldn't do that.

Is there a group of you guys close? I could send several copies to one address.

I'd be willing to send it, for free, to five people or so.

Amazon reply:

Dear Customer

Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with our policy concerning price changes of the item “Lotus Flow3r”. I would like to offer an explanation of some of the particular considerations which have led us to adopt this policy.

There are several million titles listed on our website, some of which have never been ordered from us and may not have been ordered by any retailer for quite a while.

It would be impossible for us to regularly check on the price of each item, and so we must rely on the data supplied by publishers and other suppliers. We update our website regularly with data from many sources, but occasionally this information is out-of-date or incorrect. We can only make the changes if our suppliers have made them known.

We make every effort to keep abreast of the changes in the status of items, and we feel that having an on-line computerised catalogue allows us to update it more regularly. Publishers do, however, change the list prices of titles regularly and with so many titles in our catalogue there will unavoidably be a few instances where an item's price may have changed without our knowing it.

Also, we would like to inform you that, if the price of an item is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount while shipping that item as per our price guarantee policy. If price of an item is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, never charge the higher price.

Hope this information is of help.

I sincerely apologise for the misunderstanding caused regarding this policy.

Thank you for choosing Amazon.co.uk.

Please let us know if this e-mail answered your question:

(etc)

So nothing definitive yet?

Which reminds me, did'nt the 21 nites book start off costing about £30 in the pre order stage, then eventually was reduced. Maybe the new 3cd set will be sold on the new site for $12, we will have to wait and see. or maybe the price will be reduced nearer to the release date like the book.

Well it could be Prince, or it could be Target, or it could just be Amazon.

To use the Planet Earth example, the one-off record deal Prince originally signed was with Sony. In all territories the CD was going to be manufactured, distributed, and marketed by them. In the UK of course Prince found a loophole and did the whole Mail On Sunday thing (and possibly the free concert giveaway was not orginally part of the deal either). Sony UK cancelled the retail release and all marketing and HMV went nuts etc (but backed down later on).

So this time, maybe Prince tried again to do a deal outside of the Target one with other online retailers so Target have kicked up a stink. Or maybe Amazon and Play etc should not be listing the CD at all, and Prince, Target and their legal teams have told them to pull the listing. Or maybe Prince has done another deal to get it to UK and Europe, so Amazon are pissed off and pulled the listing themselves.

Or maybe everything is cool. The CDs will be released here for a good price and you'll be able to get them everywhere. biggrin

Just thought it would be good to give international fans a place to ask politely/scream loudly to get hard copy CDs released around the world, not just USA. As we all know Target/Amazon won't ship to your country.

Mp3 download good enough??

Speaking from an Australian point of view.
I have ordered and received stuff from Amazon (USA) before so if this is a last resort I will order it through them.

However, in the past each album has had a local release, and I think Lotus Flow3r will not be an exception. One chain JB Hi Fi is already taking pre-orders for the physical release - with a release date of April 7.

I'm very surprised that Amazon will not ship worldwide. This kind of marketing only leaves the doors open for illegal downloading as a fan's only course of action, taking money out of the artists pocket. If files uploaded are FLAC, then quality of downloads is a non-issue. Folks may not need a silver, in this circumstance.

Options for non-US customers to get physical copies may be eBay, trading, friend/fan connections, EIL, import record shops, or maybe LotusFlow3r.com.

As a resident of the US, and a Prince collector I know that oceans are a small hurdle to getting something that you want/need. I've bought many imports, and rarely have I had any issues in getting something from any part of this great big world.

I'm not sure that's the point. This is a regular album not a rare bootleg.

For Prince to organise US distribution ONLY and leave the rest of us to deal with the outrageously inflated prices of imports, is a swift kick to the groin to all those who live beyond the centre of the world. (...note sarcasm mad )

...Particularly when the U.S price is a measly $12.00.

For Australian fans; No doubt he would expect us to a) Buy the album despite the price hike of an import. And b) pay a $77US subscription fee, which apparently allows you better access to concert tickets in a place he NEVER TOURS!!!

How difficult would it have been for his management to spend a couple of days having a chat to a few retailers in different parts of the world?

$60 for the boxset - that's $20 a CD - the price I was kind of expecting for the boxset.

It seems reasonable on the surface. But compare that to what they are paying in the US, equivalent to $17.50 AUD for all 3 CDs!! eek

It's not that it's really released in Europe or elsewhere, officially, like in the U.S.A. But it can be found...

A Swiss retailer has it that changed the release date from 23 March to 30 March:

cede.ch

Play.com has it and amazon.co.uk lists it again - U.K.

It can be found in Australia: jbhifionline.com.au

Dutch sides list it, too: bol.com, platomania, nlstore

It can also be found on importcds.com (+ $6.99 for international shipping).

But there isn't anything in Spain, France, Germany & Italy... What about Japan or Brazil...?
