NPGMC NO MORE!!! via NPGMC's U TELL US forum:
Greetings Family,
The NPG Music Club has been in xistence 4 more than 5 years. In that time we've learned a great deal from each other and about this brave new online world we have all chosen 2 b part of. The members we have been 4tunate enough 2 have join r family have truly made this the best music club any artist could ever dream of. And all the things we have been a part of 2gether -- the concerts, the celebrations, the soundchecks, the discussions and the un4gettable music -- have shown us what a New Power Generation can truly b. We thank u from r hearts 4 sharing urselves and ur love of the music with all of us. It has been a blessing. Once the NPG Music Club won the 2006 Webby Award, discussions within the NPG began 2 center on what was next. What’s the next step in this ever-changing xperiment? The achievements of the past cannot be questioned and we are truly grateful 4 everything that has been accomplished. But in its current 4m there is a feeling that the NPGMC gone as far as it can go. In a world without limitations and infinite possibilities, has the time come 2 once again make a leap of faith and begin anew? These r ?s we in the NPG need 2 answer. In doing so, we have decided 2 put the club on hiatus until further notice. The NPG Music Club was a first step; the lessons learned will last 4ever. Now comes a time of great reflection and restructuring. The future holds nothing but endless opportunity and we plan on seizing it wholeheartedly. Don’t u want 2 come? I am more upset about this than I care to admit. Summer is here and lots of us had a feeling Prince would be on tour or doing gigs here and there. I feel so cut off from the info and the perks NPGMC provided. I had a lousy day today and I stayed up later than I wanted to just to be upset right before I go to bed. Not really fair. I never did get to join! It's not that I didn't want to - but there were always more pressing things to deal with, and I didn't feel that I could give it the attention it deserved. I finally clicked on the link just last night. I had made up my mind at last to dive in head first. And what do I get after my years of procrastination? "The NPG Music Club is currently not accepting any new memberships"!! Sheesh!
I can't say that I'm angry by any means. I just feel like I missed out on something really big for no better reason than just not wanting to mess with it at the time. That's just how things seem to go for me though. In fact I'm pretty sure that somehow this is all my fault. Sorry everyone... And who's to say there still won't be "perks"??? He's still running a business, after all. I, for one, plan to take a wait-and-see. . .

Fellow members of the NPG. Prince will be back with a new site. We will probably have to renew our membership, but that's a small price to pay for the great music and instant information that the NPG Music Club has given the members of the New Power Generation over the years. I'm not mad at all, but THANKFUL!!! We must unite in love during this hiatus and not let SPOOKY ELECTRIC gain ground. HOLD ON TO YOUR SOUL!!!! It's A Real Mother For Ya

think it's a bit harsh to email us like this: "oh we have no clue what to so now we got an award blah blah so boom: let's shut it down. Like immediately". Why not leave it open and work on something "totally new and futuristic" on the side?! Or give me at least some notice?! Dunno, just a bit overwhelmed by this news and I fear we won't have something new until next year... Well the org will be the place to be for news then. Peace etc. | |

If you read the email again, it really looks like the club will be back. It won an award and perhaps now it is being taken a bit more seriously than ever. I've been really happy with the club. Getting Xpectation on New Year's Eve, getting the ONA box set, getting access to 7 soundchecks, front row seats for ONA and 2nd row for Musicology, albums like Slaughterhouse and Chocolate Invasion. I bet when it comes back, there will be more cool stuff like that to offer. But the price will either go back up to $100 or more. And it will have to satisfy everyone, instead of just members that joined a long time ago. Hopefully people will chill out and realize it was not invented so you could go in there and pretend to have a conversation with Prince or convert to Jehovah God Jesus or whatever his name is.
