geez Prince, once again, music club. *music*. why not change the
name to npgsc.com (npg scented candles dot com)?

Preach! Maybe 2006 will be a kiss-and-make-up year between Warner Bros and Prince.

Or, how 'bout we get that "manufacturing" snafu figured out with the Chocolate Invasion Box-Set, and press us some silvers and artwork. Save the hatboxes and posters of never released side projects. Give us some tangible music product.

eek

that's right. i forgot all about that chocolate invasion box set.

sounds right up his sleeve though. it would be the what, fifth x
releasing the same material.

Enigmoid and Istenszek: clapping thumbs up!

If Prince wants to make money, just think of the things he could pull out of the vault and release as pressed CDs/DVDs. Take a cue from the Grateful Dead! (http://stores.musictoday....549&sfid=7) Or get over the thing with WB and get a comprehensive series of remasters/reissues going. disbelief

I guess I never considered him a "hard core" JW. It just doesn't seem like he would go that far...although supposedly he did go door knocking.

We also know how often he changes - so it's very likely he's changing again, or backing off his "hard core" status.

At some level, he is a business man (we can argue how good of one he is). He does (or at least should) realize that he is selling to "the common folk" and many of those common folk have a time of year that they like to buy gifts for people....it is a good business decision to have things for these people to buy each other. Is it all that bad for a JW to acknowledge the fact that many other people do celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah (sorry, can't spell) and other such holidays at this time of the year?

As far as comments about him not knowing what is going on at NPGMC - I doubt it. This is still Price. Although Prince has changed "some" over the years, he is still extremely controlling. You think a guy that routinely sends legal letters to websites (that are actually promoting him in some ways) to shut down doesn't have complete control of his own official website? Give me a break. I am willing to bet NOTHING goes on that site without his personal approval.

Just my $0.01 (I'd give you $0.02, but I'm one of those common folk that have spent most my money on gifts....if I would have only waited for these gift certificates!).

what does this have to do with him being JW?

Most Jehova Witness' dont celebrate Christmas, so why launch a promotion thats obviously aimed at cashing in on the "holiday"? My comment isnt a swipe at anyones faith, however.

I can't imagine giving someone this as a gift. That would be the day they conveniently loose the order and refuse to honor the gift certificate. They lost Crystal Ball orders, they lost track of people in NPGMC, they lost track of orders for the ONA Live CD set... If you send your money to them for a gift certificate who's to say they won't loose that too.

You know how the gift certificates could be kinda cool?

I was just thinking about this. NPGMC is always putting out the stuff I ***REALLY*** want exactly when I'm flat out broke. It never fails. Tickets will go on sale the day before payday, or they'll put some cool lookin' stuff in the download store the day after I cashed in my spare change so I could eat Ramen noodles for the rest of the week...they never seem to put this stuff out when I've got some money in my pocket!

SO. If I could use their e-gift certificates for ANYTHING on the site...if they were as good as money, across the board - I'd hoarde 'em when I have money so I could jump on the new stuff even when I DON'T have money.

In that respect, I could see the gift certificates being a good thing.

I know his online music store is through a company that does a lot of artists' online stores...it's probably something new they're offering their clients, and NPGMC just said "sure, why not."

Well, that's confirmation (if any were needed) that something is happening/being revealed on the 13th of December.

Funny if after all this the announcement was, 'Prince is retiring and closing the club. Thankyou and goodnight!'

I just recd the same msg. Questions: who writes this shit?? Who actually talks like this?? "The savings r sweet enuff 2 cause a sugarbuzz." Give me a frigging break!! So, Prince wants us to know that he's grown up, and so has his music. Try talking to us LIKE GROWN UPS and maybe we'll be more apt to digest your more "grown up" music. Actually, it doesn't really matter if the "grown up" music is not up to par. I don't even send text messages like this!

I can imagine the look on my friend's face when I try to explain the gift of the gift certificate that's not valid for the download store which contains the best music in the so-called music club and I say "Don't worry - you can clean up in the retail store. They're having a huge sale, In fact, the savings r sweet enuff 2 cause a sugarbuzz."

If only I could actually say this in the same way its inanely spelled....

If a 1 equates to just a new look to the club, and a 10 equates to actually getting access to the Vault's unreleased music, then Dec. 13th is being touted like it's a freakin 9.5. I'm gonna laugh my ass off if it's something silly and equivalent to a "talk of the day" topic.

hmmm Could be... On the other hand, I think your approach (hoarding gift certificates so you can make purchases later when you're otherwise broke!) is hazardous...who knows how long that retail store, download store, ticket presale scheme, or for that matter the whole site, will be around! wink razz

Prince himself knows it's nothing but a bunch of crap for sale there. What a piece of crap gimic.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Rockability

I'm no JW, but Prince isn't exactly disobeying his religion.

JW's do celibrate anniversaries and give gifts. Also, they give gifts regularly throughout the year to eachother to make up for holidays.

However, I do agree that it is BAD timing and I would vote Prince should get back to the racy music smile
