Me too, that was a night and a half. I can 'see' myself in that video, or at least the back of the heads of people where I was right up front, so I guess I must be one of them!!!!!

Burns me up to see such great footage as this though in that small Flash screen. Put the damn thing (and hey, why not one from every darn tour) on club DVD's. Release it! (oh, yeah and no overdubs!!!!!)

But this isn't a new video. It was originally released on April 18 2003 as part of NPGMC's relaunch. It's cool for new club members, but a little annoying for us long time supporters. It's obvious that Prince is bored with the club and doesn't give em new much material. So they post old stuff just to have something "new".
Oh well, very sad when you look at other fantastic official artists sites.

For all the gripes about that tour, I have to say the Brixton gig really did 'work' and was such great fun. Think the venue coupled with a great crowd and a jovial purple fella made it all come together that night.

However, as for this 'new' clip... wasn't this hosted on the club previously? Im sure it was - as good as that clip is, another track would have been preferable.

So strap yourselves in for the usual: 'give us downloads we really want!' comments NPGMC.

I've been a member of the club since pretty much week one of year one, and I don't remember this clip! I remember there being other Brixton clips, but not this one??? Didn't think I'd seen this. May well be my memory though. Just hoping for something new I guess!!! Brain's convincing me that we've got something new????

On that tour I particularly enjoyed Marva King miming to Rosies parts.

Loads of great memeories from this but remember there was no encore which then generated a million different rumours as to why none was performed. Funniest part was hwne he did Pink Cashmere [?] at the piano and that scarf got caught in the fan and kept flapping which made P walk of stage and return in good humour. Also recall being right at the front face to face with Chaka's thighs!!!. And as for the version of Bambi [?]...

It's nothing new, believe me. You can check it at www.dawnation.com in ther NPGMCography-section. That video is also circulation for years at several filesharingsystems like emule, kazaa, etc.. It's not new at all.

No. The performance from the Beautiful Strange video was from an aftershow at Cafe de Paris in London.
The clip we are talking about is from the show at the Brixton Academy.

I'm not sure about why you liked it, I thought the clips sucked. Here's why. The first 3 "clips" were from the 2 year old "Aladdin" DVD, which sucked then, so more agony for us. And yes, The JOTY video has bad quality, plus us old NPG members are getting screwed, not one video I have seen. I'd give them a D-. I love Prince, but he has been pissing me off lately.

That was the first concert I saw of Prince Rogers Nelson... in detroit at the Joe Louis Arena...

Detroit ... "what a city and that night "EVERYBODY and i meen EVERYBODY" danced.

Larry Graham, Chaka and the entire group of everyone, who performed were "outstanding".

What a "beautiful night".
Take care.

Everyone has to remember that the club only costs $25 for lifetime membership. That means if they are going to release something new, chances are it's gonna be in the download store and we're gonna have to pay for it.

They (almost) never post anything "new" in the Reflection, Glam Slam or Cyberclips rooms, however they do post some rare goodies for some of the newer folk. Nothing wrong with that.

This is the latest in a string of small updates at the NPGMC. Hopefully it's a sign that something new is on its way - or maybe they're just biding time...

lol Well, that's exactly what we DO want! I don't mind shelling out a measly few bucks for a decent download, I have no problems with doing that whatsoever.

Sorry, I've been busy for the last few years but is the $25 fee really for the life of the club? I thought it was a yearly thing. Just wondering.

I wish Dr. Mambo's Combo would sing some them ol' songs, if I ever see them again.

Detroit, I wish I could see the Prince peeps out there. I hear they are the best. Plus P put on, to me, his best Musicology Show in Detroit, plus Time came out there.

Better than the Minneapolis shows (maybe except for the last St. Paul show that was hott).

So what happened with the good old "it's better 2 give then 2 receive"??!! why not GIVE us something new, it's about time right? Do know that I don't mind at all if I have 2 pay 4 it, but there's nothing new 4 sale either. The club is stuck in a loop, same old stuff over and over again...and that's a shame in my opinion.

As somebody who's seen only 3 P performances, this is a good thing smile I don't often venture into the video clips section, but I do like this one. Also like the Pop Life clip from Vegas.

I loved that version of Bambi too.

If I recall correctly, his guitar gave out half way through, so he ran over to another on a stand, played a chord as it was whilst still in this stand, whipped up the guitar as the chord was playing, landing the strap on his shoulder, then, as soon as the guitar was properly in place, continued playing the song. All in time to the music and without missing a beat from the song.

I think I can safely say that it was the coolest, most professional, most impressive thing I have ever seen a musician do.

i don't remember the JOTY clip being posted at the beginning of the 2003 version of the club, and i signed up the day it launched...doesn't mean it didn't happen. i just don't remember it. it's new to me and, apparantly, to a few others.

it's a bummer that we're not getting jawdropping new goodies from the club lately, but i don't think the little crumbs they're dropping are meant to be anything more than eye-candy until prince releases his new project.

if i can find criticism in anything, it's that it seems glaringly apparent that prince is tired of NPGMC and has moved on, leaving a bunch of "official" fans somewhat in the lurch as far as interacting with an official site is concerned.

i do think the folks who run the site are trying to make the best of such a situation, and i can appreciate the little additions for what they are. no big whoop.

A small portion of the JOTY clip was available for a short time. I have had it for a year or so. It is nice to get a 8 minute clip. I have been wit the NPGMC from day one and I appreciate everything they release. Its Prince so its all good. What is the use in complaining all the time?
