I'm not a member of NPGMC. At first I kinda thought Prince was just being greedy. Also I've never had a decent computer to download music. I'm sure there are lots of members out there. I would love to hear from members on why I should join.

There WAS a video section, but for months it's been closed down for "repair." I called the club and asked when it would be back up and was told that the FREE videos would most likely NEVER reappear. There will be videos, but you will have to pay for them. Whatever.

The ONLY reason to join is 2 get songs for .77 cents instead of .99 cents. But you're paying $25.00 for that. You'd have to download around 120 songs to make it worth your while. Sadly, there aren't that many songs available. I paid my $25.00, expecting that Prince wouldn't rip off his fans, but I found out that Prince would.

Just pay the .99 cents for the songs you want and wait until Prince actually makes his site worth the money. There are honestly less PICTURES there than you can find online. Probably 35 pics. And the majority of them have this NPG watermark on them (it covers at least half the pic), so they aren't of much use. They're also low quality and they can't be saved -- only printed.

It's a total scam. It's the first time Prince actually angered me. I tried getting my money back, but of course they told me it was a "donation" (they wouldn't tell me what I donated to) and wouldn't even consider giving my $25.00 back. Stay far, far away.

But.....

I never use the chatroom.
I am not interested in pictures of Prince (either here or there, music is what its about).
The message boards are occupied by the biggest arse lickers you will probably ever see.
The video room was good, but, sadly now defunked.
The vault is ok for newer fans.
The Reflection room WAS good, with new tracks. But now it is just reflection.
Glam Slam room is just Reflection room with a different name.

Wow! Thanks a lot. What about all of those NPGMC members getting awesome seats at concerts? I guess since I saw him twice last week he won't be around my hood again for a while so I'll sign up then. I've also heard people complain about the downloads you get on the NPGMC that you can't burn them. Is that true?

Thats it!! I have had enough of the Club and once I have secured tix for the rumoured Autumn/Winter UK tour I am ceasing my membership of the Club, for these reasons alone:

I cant access the chatroom anyway(I click on the chatroom link and then I have 2 fill in my username and password in a grey box and then once I have got into the chatroom everything just freezes up on me!!)
I cant download all the new songs Prince puts up on there since we had 2 start paying for them as I dont have a credit card(I used my dads 2 join up in the first place and I cant keep asking him every 5 minutes 2 use it for downloading as he doesnt live near me for one thing!!)Also I find all the discussions in the U Tell Us Forums, particularly in the Knowledge Forum, very nauseating to b quite honest!! I am connected with JWs and even comments by JWs on there are very much aimed at trying 2 keep on the right side of Prince and they dont really touch on very important issues that are gonna b facing mankind in the very near future. Also they all feel as though they know Prince personally and that he knows them!!! But if the truth b known, he doesnt care 2 hoots about us all, JW or not!! I love Prince, but I prefer not 2 get too wrapped up in all of this!!!

It is what it is...right now, you should join if you're going to use the pre-sale benefit, for sure. Otherwise, it's only for the die-hards...and not all of them, either.

The songs are great, but of course $.99 ain't a bad price by any means, so I don't see that as any real incentive to join.

$25 is a world of cash. Do not join, Prince is greedy. No soup for you, no front row either

My experience has been decent. I wish there was more music to download though. The best thing for me is getting front row seats at the shows. Thats about all i do. I don't chat or post at all there. Maybe once or twice. I was only $25 i waste more than that on junk anyways.

I use the club for:
a) Good concert seats (I will see him a total of 5 times this year - once at the Fillmore in SF about 5 feet away)
b) Announcements - first to know everything.
c) Access to music as semi-discounted Price (okay, not a HUGE discount)....

Although I've had a very positive experience from my club membership, I can understand why some people might not be too keen on joining. I'm lucky enough to live in the Bay Area where that $25 is WELL WORTH it because he plays here quite often and it gives me access to prime seating at the shows, etc. If I was back in Colorado, it might not be worth it because the shows are so few and far between.

It maybe worth the good seats. But since he just came to NYC I don't see him coming back anytime soon. So I guess I'll wait and buy the music at 99 cents. As far as P being greedy. I just felt like I have always been a loyal fan, bought whatever he put out good or not so good. And now I feel like if you are not a member you are not good enough for Prince.

i don't get how people are so fucking cheap. $25? i joined 2 years ago, got to go to the Aladdin theater showing, the musicology opening night theater showing, probably got front row seats in DC next month (or pretty damn close)...bought some music before anybody could (.77 and it took less than 10 mins on dial up and i burned them to cd's)...if life sux that bad for anybody that they can't afford a one time pony-up of $25, then u got bigger problems. I pay $23.90 a MONTH just for AOL. so i would say don't join because if u gotta haggle about paying 250 dimes , then i wouldn't want u bringing down my buzz on the front row.

If 25 bucks is gonna alter your lifestyle don't do it. If you dig the man or his music and want a chance at exclusives for each you should join.

I think it would be cool to join just to be apart of something that's really all about and for Prince. Plus it's official. I haven't joined yet either. I keep putting it off but not for too much longer. My computer is kind of slow too and I'd probably be hard or take forever to download music, but we'll see. It's also the best looking website I've ever seen. It's different, very unique and well organized. You'll never see another like it. If you haven't already, I definately think you should join.

I don't think he's being greedy either. I mean if it were you wouldn't you charge? Otherwise you'd have the whole world & who knows who, joining your club without knowing if they're true fans or not. Haters wouldn't pay to hate.
Congratulaters will gladly pay & enjoy being a part of something special that ungrateful ones don't have access to or wouldn't pay to let appreciaters know that they have no life. I'm sure Prince and club members thought about all this and more before putting a price on joining. Maybe that's even why he lowered the price... more consideration of his true fans. Maybe the $100 ("high price") was just to be safe that the website stay safe... and as time went by, lowered it. Anyone (at first) would probably pay $25 out of curiosity, but they'd think twice about $100. Anyway, I don't think greed was the issue or idea.

someone has to pay for the web design, updates, server space, etc.....to me the $25 was well worth it..the cost of two tix through the club was $150, the cost of two tix through ticketbastard...$190....so, the math is, went to two shows in Houston, paid $325, without the membership, two shows would have cost me $380...and I probably wouldn't have had front row each night like I did...the first night we were so close, we got to shake hands with all of them each time they came off the stage!

the only reason I did'nt join back in the day was the $100 fee...my money was funny. now, i can afford to have leisure activities such as supporting my favorite artist and it so happens the price dropped ...a one time fee of $25 bucks ain't gonna kill me. And it sho' ain't gon hurt me according to txladykat!
