Wishuhvn is back in the house after traveling back to the mainland 2 visit with family over the holidays...I will tell U that Honolulu was really really good but Maui was KILLER!!! Honolulu was great till there was a Maui...Give me another day to recover from the screwed up airlines delaying/cancelling flights and losing luggage...They'll be two reviews...one for the concerts and another for the ticket situation (not good,actually miserable)...But folks this Maui show was unbelievable and one that we'll all never 4get!!! But U know what? It was the handful of club members in/visiting Honolulu and Maui that makes this so unforgetable...Big shout outs will follow...

u better not wait too long to give us poor unfortunate souls who missed the dec 19 gig, THE WHOLE DAMN STORY ON THE CONCERT IN MAUI!!!

i went to the honolu-la gig, and i was swept up to another level of existence, experiencing the funkalicious talents of P for the 3rd time! everything was super yummy, both at blaisdell and volcanos, but i had a sneaking suspicion that the maui gig was going to go off like crazy... because it would have been more intimate setting and honolu-la woulda been a warm up for him and the band.

...so then my suspicions were right after all, and sadly, i was too broke like a yolk to get island hop over for the concert (and i had to work).

I'm working on it offline right now but the neices and nephews want attention from Uncle Wishuhvn I don't want to 4get shout outs 2 the Paisley People or leave out anything of real interest...But it's 9:50 am California time and I promised by the end of the day...Aloha~

So it’s now late Monday evening here in California and I’m home visiting family and friends. Already I miss the warmth of Hawaii and my home…But U want to hear about Maui…Maui my friends, was the BOMB!!!
NPGMC members were told to show up at 4 p.m. for the sound check but were not allowed onto the grounds until about 5:15. Since it was outside we were still able to hear everything and peek through openings to view parts of the going ons...(this was not a good thing)…Once let in we members didn’t sit in our assigned seats but instead sat closer to the stage than any of our tickets allowed for…There was only about 25 members at the sound check but it was the 25 coolest members U could ever assemble…There was only 8 of us that actually lived in Hawaii and the rest flew in from Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, Italy, Holland, Asia, California and Detroit. Hopefully Prince realizes how loyal his fan club members are…So anyway, the sound check lasted around 45 minutes once we were let in…I don’t believe that Prince sang at all and didn’t acknowledge the club members with any spoken words but did smile at our small but loyal group…After the sound check was complete the members were escorted off the grounds where we received our wristbands 4 access to the after party and then sent back in line…
So than at 745 p.m. Maui was woken up with “Dearly Beloved, we have gathered here today 2 get through this thing called life” The crowd went ballistic!!! Prince appeared in the electric Blue suit and tore the place up with his guitar theatrics…This is my 7th show and he was on fire with the ax…With the first 4 songs coming off of Purple Rain the crowd was pumped…Local security stunk and the aisles were quickly jammed with people straining 2 get closer to our Hall of Famer…Trevor from Prince’s security team had his hands full trying to stop the people from taking so many photos…It did slow down when he went into SShh but than with the first sounds of DSMR the party was back on!! The man was on fire and seemed 2 be in a really good mood with the Maui audience…and he didn’t say a word about the strong scent of “Maui Wowie.” People were lighting up all around us club members and 4 me it took me away from the bliss of the show…I won’t even mention the problem with all of the drunk women…Prince continued to joke with the locals and professed his love 4 the locals saying that it was his 4th time on Maui this year alone…
The set list that was previously posted is close to correct but here are the changes—He didn’t do Delirious or R U having a party? He did do Fallin as part of The One, bits of Love Bizarre, Hot Pants, Everlasting Now, and the new song Sleep on the couch…A couple of people around me commented on that last song so Prince U might have a song that the avg. guy can identify with…
Once again, the crowd was full of your Purple Rain Posers who really don’t know any lyrics but I was glad to help them out J I just love looking at the people in a prince concert to see them fall under his spell…Most of these people are the people that make jokes about us Prince fans…But they were hooked!!! So what about this stampede that charged the stage? Two things happened at once that allowed this…At the moment that Trevor jumped from the stage to get a guy who had been taking pictures and causing problems Prince made a comment about needing dancers…Now us Club Mem bers know he didn’t mean dancers literally on stage but since we weren’t in the front row a mad wave of women and a few questionables jumped on stage and than a few more and than all hell broke loose…Prince 2 his credit was superb, I was freaking out trying to get the volunteer security to do their job and stop these people…Prince managed to get the crowd to line up behind him but finally the numbers got to be too great and he was swallowed up 4 a few seconds and reemerged with the help of his security team on a speaker to the side of the stage singing U got the Look (I believe). Prince remained ever the pro and I honestly think that once he was safe, he loved it!!! It had to be like a Prince concert from the PR days…This show should end up on video…It seemed like everyone had a camera of some sort…It is so frustrating to see everyone taking pics all around U…Highlights 4 me were Everlasting Now, Controversy (he even did the People call me rude chant),Sign of the Times, Life of the Party, Sleep on the couch, Let’s Work, and DMSR…
Ladies and gentlemen this show was great!! There is always more that I could write and I will on Tuesday…The after party was another jam with local icon Willie K. tearing the place up with Prince’s guitar…and the NPG wrecking the house as well…But that must wait for tomorrow along with my personal shout outs…I love hanging out with other Princely people esp. my foreign friends…and won’t 4 get to mention U all…2morrow…I hope our man appreciates his fans and their dedication…Anyway, it’s late and I need some sleep…Hopefully this review helps people get the picture of that night…Aloha and I can’t wait to share more of the Hawaii Exp. With U all…

that maui rundown was FOR REAL- thanks sooo much! i am stoked that P loves it here in the islands as much as the rest of us sun puppies here...and i am hyped that this gig was so fantastic! wish i wuz there too...

i think that P knows its a different culture and vibe, you know, its not like the mainland, and the other thing is that there ain't no "6 feet o' snow" and P's big white mansion -well he jus has to settle fo' a grass hut (well not really but u know what i'm sayin) and sand in his underwear must not bother him too much. also, ain't no place to ride an iron horse like here...

i hope all you and your lil nieces n nephews and grown up relations have a great Christmas...
