Prince Estate Approves Questlove-Curated Orchestral Tour

I am posting from phone so can not do link, but I think they should use more than one curator. His clear preference for the eighties being a factor. Maybe a guest curator at every location.

The Prince estate has partnered with Roots drummer Questlove to plot an orchestral tour this fall, "4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince." ...

Tix available for purchase via Link above as well as tour dates.

Why does the Rolling Stone article continue the media trend of only recognizing the Tidal 2019 release? Has there been a change in the WB release?

Anything that honors P's legacy is cool. Would like to see the Time, Family, NPG but it is too soon after P's passing for me to go I'll just cry.

They're actually coming close to my city. As long as it isn't $100+ a ticket, I'm interested.

I found this at the website (4uprince.com), trickster -

The 2018 tour will include shows in both the United States and Europe, starting in early September and running through November 2018. Additional dates will be announced for 2019 at a later date.

I didn't see any dates for Europe yet, but it looks like it will be coming your way.

Questlove is presenting a Michael Jackson Orchestra show on his death day (June 25), but I just saw this right after this Prince headline. I am not aware of how the shows actually play out.

Got mine. 4 the Chicago show [Snip no no no! - luv4u]

There are so many possible songs ready for a show like this.

Like opening with "Alexa De Paris!"

Excited! It looks like things are finally moving and more goodies will come 4 all.

Hmm.

Heavy doubts here.

Questlove of course needs no doubt, but would mr. Prince really have wanted this?

No one can know what Prince would have wanted, of course. As for me, I got my tickets reserved for San Antonio, Texas, and am thrilled I can take my 13 and 9 year olds to a symphonic concert featuring Prince tunes.

They are having it in Dallas too but is it too much for me...

Must depend on the venue. The show by me has tickets ranging from $39 to $90. With good seats being $50.

I paid $49 per ticket, floor seats, row V, dead center. I'm sure pricing varies per venue. In San Antonio, the performance is at the Majestic Theatre, seats 2260. Prince played at the Majestic during the Dirty Mind tour.

No Minneapolis dates. Unbelievable. From the estate, I would expect this, they're morons, but Questlove? Sir, you once had my respect.

His music is certainly worthy of these arrangements. I would include a shit tonne of Clare Fischer stuff, and the magnificent string ending to Purple Rain.

Maybe the start of the tour is spent fine-tuning things, with a hometown show to come?

I suppose there will be some kind of event at Paisley Park at some point where this Orchestral Tour will come in.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Is it just me that doesn't see the point in this?

Questlove, the estate, or not, it's just orchestrated arrangements of his songs.

.

The Revolution reforming is one thing. The "NPG" mash of ex band members is slightly more dodgy, but OK.

But I have no interest in this at all!! eek

I live in Philadelphia, but there is no Philly date for this tour, which is odd considering that Questlove is a Philly native.

.

I would love for "Alexa de Paris" to be featured as one of the songs played during the tour. It's a beautiful song, plus it was recorded with orchestral instruments.
