Jimmy Jam And Terry Lewis Announce Super Bowl Prince Tribute concert on Jan 29

http://www.mnsuperbowl.co...ert-Series

MINNEAPOLIS – Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee (MNSBHC) today announced the first 19 of many performers and musical acts who will play free concerts at Super Bowl LIVE presented by Verizon, the MNSBHC’s 10-day festival along Nicollet Mall that will be free and open to the public.

At a press conference in Minneapolis, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis announced that several artists with personal and professional ties to Prince are confirmed to perform and are expected to honor the late Minnesota-born icon. The Revolution, Sheila E. and Morris Day and the Time will perform on Monday, January 29 at the Verizon Up Stage at Ice Mountain to be located on Nicollet Mall at 8th street. This evening, dubbed ‘Prince Night,’ will conclude with a community sing-along of Prince’s legendary song ‘Purple Rain.’

Select ‘Prince Night’ performances will be shown on NFL Network, ESPN2, and NBC Sports Network as part of their telecast of Super Bowl Opening Night fueled by Gatorade from Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul.

I just hope we don’t embarrass ourselves with ridiculously cold weather and tons of snow that week.

I see Omarr’s group New Power Soul is also performing this week.

Who’s the new lead singer?

they probably replaced the other guy due to the hilarity that ensued concerning his appearance, on the last publicity photo...

i dont think it would be an embarrassment to us at all...people from elsewhere should already be aware and prepared for cold/snow...i think that would even add some regional charm to the festivities

I hate when threads get moved to forums no one frequents.

Anyway, saw on Twitter that the Twins are supposedly performing with New Power Soul during their Suoer Bowl performance.

I think they are on the same bill. Sheila said she would have a 15 minute set. I haven't seen the full schedule.

Understood. I live here and I don't think I'm going to go to that. She is supposedly doing a show at the Armory on February 4th. I might do that. It is going to be pretty chaotic downtown, since that is the day of the Super Bowl.

What time would the Sheila E/Rev/Morris & The Time concert start on the 29th? I've Googled and read a few different articles about these Super Bowl concerts downtown but I can't seem to see a start time for them. Thanks in advance if anyone can tell me. I'm so excited for this! Just please don't let it be -30 that night! lol
