Same to you, Latin...Here in the UK, the first voice we heard on the BBC to mark the start of 2017 was Prince. Got to be a good sign, huh? yes

Wow! So glad I hopped on tonight. What's really sad is that I live in Detroit and did not hear anything about this ... DSO should do him proud. Social media fail, I guess. Anyway, 7 more minutes

Thanks to Latin (or whoever) for the repost of this info.

G'Bye 2016

Ok I missed the beginning of this and I'm sure this as addressed at the beginning of the performance, but who is the guy singing?

The guy singing is in a cover band with Dr. Fink, but I did not catch his whole name. He was in a band with Prince's cousin ... who was not a funky drummer smile I am recording and hope it works! For sure, makes me miss P even more, but I like that they are being so respectful and aiming to enhance his legacy.

Thanks for the updates purplecandlelight and mipans!

It would be very kind of you if could do those of us that cannot watch it tonight a favor.

Is it possible for you to let us know more about the performance?

For example, please share the set list.

It would truly be truly appreciated

Thanks!

Hi Latin,

I will do my best. DSO is very good about posting their events in HD for world wide access (as no one is left in Detroit - just kidding we are still here), so I will check in to how that is accessed. So far, doing a nice job.

Ok that makes more sense. I'm only able to catch pieces of this since I have other stuff going on here. Thanks for the info and I hope recording it works. Would be nice to watch this in its entirety when I have time.

Okay,

They are doing Cream - singer is Marshall Charloff (sp?). Cover band is Purple Experience. He just told story about how Cream is not a "dirty song."

Will keep list of tracks and post - at least for part II and III.

Thanks. Is the Detroit Symphony Orchestra backing up the band or is this band opening for them?

The DSO is supporting - conductor Brent Havers. They have brought in other supporting players. DSO does this a lot - bring in the likes of Thornetta Davis, etc. Very eclectic. Marshall just hinted that maybe St.Paul would show?
