I still say you go for the man not the line up.But geez and cheese i want my revolution. Many people got to really know prince because of the rev.I got to meet/book many bands and singers over the years while living near hershey pa. We also had the well known club called the Metron where my buddy Bret Michael played every week end til he left for LA. Bands seemed to be bigger in the 60's,70's,80's and 90's But,i have to really wonder how the rev feels. Most of the radio songs played are associated with them.Somebody better get them there cool Prince himself even said he cant go anywhere without being asked about the rev or lisa and wendy.I know after 86 they officially weren't prince and the revolution any longer.I wish some type of contract could of been signed that read if lead singer leaves we have the right to create as a band with our name and a new singer.Sorry just thought they should of got more love. Most talented band ever EVER

That's the right attitude. What's important is celebrating P's life and legacy. And, I would not be at all surprised if they add more names to the line-up.

I keep thinking back to the BET tribute in 2010. Nobody was really crazy about that list of performers and they were chosen by Prince himself! I am hopeful that maybe a few more artists will be announced or maybe there will be some surprise guests. Just a shame that there seems to be tension between Sheila and the estate. Booking that concert with Morris Day only two days later and then reminding people of it last night on Twitter comes across as a big middle finger to the estate.

This is very strange. I don't know why this entire quote is attributed to me. All I said was "Exactly!" The rest was written by someone else. This is not the first time I have noticed this happening in the past few days. Then, when I tried to respond directly to the quote, it would not show that part of the thread in the response window. That's why I have copied and pasted it here. It's very disconcerting. I do not use such a harsh tone and I certainly don't use profanity on this board. I'm hoping this splicing was accidental, and that it will not happen again.

Wow. That's horrible.

Horrible, indeed!!!!!

sorry you got tapped for being the one who said it. i am the one who said it and stand by it 100%. that is actually like maybe the 2nd time i've gotten upset and posted my thoughts. nothing compared to what i've heard others say in this forum. that's for sure. i felt it was important to try and focus on the positive. it's a good thing that is happening! so happy for everone that gets to attend.

Thank you, Mkilpatrick74. No worries. I understand your frustrations and I have no problem with what you said. I just didn't like having someone else's words attributed to me. Thanks for understanding.

Honestly happy to see that this was pulled together and glad the venue changed. The lineup is ok with me as well, but I am hoping for a few suprises (Revolution, Mavis, Stehpanie Mills).

The one name I am really tripping on is Anita Baker......I don't know what to say. I have made my mind up to go just on that one name alone.

Is Anita Baker a Prince fan???? Is there anyway we can get her to sing Caught up in the Rapture????

Yes, she is a Prince fan and they were also friends. She also presented him with the American Music Award of Achievement in 1990. I hope the mods don't mind if I post that special moment here.

Prince went to see Tori Kelly when she played a show at a club in the Twin Cities last year. Tori is also friends with Hannah and has one of the best voices in music. Shelby J is not listed because 99.9% of the population does not know who she is.

It appears to me that a lot of the Prince tributes seem to reduce Prince to just a funk/soul/r&b singer. Why are there no tributes from any rock-artists?

Good point. Would be good to see some different genres there. After all, The Revolution were not an R&B band.

If someone asked me if I'd pay $20 to go to a Stevie Wonder concert, of course I would go. I'm local and I'm going to be online Monday anyway. I'm also free October 13. I figure I don't have an excuse not to go other than laziness. All the folks who fly out and book hotels make me feel like a wimp when I don't do stuff in my own backyard.

I skew toward the younger end of Prince fans and many of the "younger" acts don't ring a bell. It's going to be a long wait to hear anything I care about Prince had Tori on a list of his current 10 favorite artists; that wasn't just a promoter filling a spot. I think Prince would have wanted her there.

It'd be cool to do an org meetup near Xcel before the show. There's a bunch of bars and stuff in walking distance.

Thanks for recognizing, Latin. I think Prince would love that Anita Baker will be there to celebrate his extraordinary life and legacy. BTW: Prince was SOOOO adorable accepting his award. He was always so gracious.

search for Tori Kelly sings Prince.. she is a blusey kinda chick but has a lot of soul. rock a roll at times.

i loved her versions. she sings Purple Rain and When Doves Cry.

reposting cause m orevious one so small u can hardly see. would not let me edit the

font.

she recently sang The Prayer with Andrea Bocelli and a full orchestra. i bet Prince would have loved that.

This is an interview of her talking about Prince wanting to come to see her sing and he did. Then he invited her to PP. Apparently she had gotten to know the girls from 3rd Eye Girl.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FVRGXeMhDE

I feel really good about this now bc he would not have gone to see her sing if he didin't like her.

Go TORI!

I was ready to hop on a plane and attend this tribute concert when it was first announced , but then things started getting weird. I am not sure what has happened with those in charge of Paisley Park and Sheila and the Revolution , but it needs to be resolved. You can not do a proper tribute without The Revolution , Sheila , The Family and Jill Jones. All of those people are the "original" Purple Family. At this point I am distancing myself from this whole thing and will just look forward to visiting Paisley Park in the future.
