From what I saw online, the band and the music sounded like the Revolution of old which was just cool .

So good that you sometimes wished Wendy would let the crowd sing instead of herself. And I dont mean that in a bad way.

Prince SHOULD'VE done this show. It pisses me off that he oposed the idea. mad neutral

One complain I always had with P's shows in the past 10 years, is that there were too many medleys and too much razzmatazz.
These Revolution shows are traight up raw, songs from start to finish, and just like they were back in the days.
Thats what makes them so exciting.

Im so angry that P never played one more time with them.

sad

I agree with every single word you have written here. I personally didn't like the medley format either but I'd take Prince LIVE anyway I could get him.

While I was watching last night, I kept thinking (as you point out) if Prince were here right now with them... It would be a one in a lifetime experience after all these years.

I honestly think this has been the only real tribute. It was powerful to hear the originals play those songs the way they are supposed to be played. Of course, NOTHING and NO ONE can perform as well as Prince but The Revolution (along with Andre and Dez) is the only band that can carry the torch in my opinion. They picked up right where they left off. They did not sound rusty AT ALL and they haven't had that much time to rehearse. I think the songs are innately within them. Wendy has always been a stellar guitar player (her tone amazing), Brownmark is a sheer beast on bass, Bobby Z. the best timekeeper in the world, Dr. Fink's sound is authentic and the phrasing and timing perfection and Lisa is phenomenal in her own right.

At first I was very uncertain and actually concerned about how I would feel at the revolution shows as I attended a Philly concert last week with both Sheila E. And Morris Day and the Time on the same bill and it just didn't feel right that they were doing official Prince songs (not the ones he penned for them... For instance Sheila e's finale of the glamorous life truly made up for everything I was feeling... Talking about EXPLOSIVE! Man, she was on fire! She can play the heck out of some drums. That is something you could never take away from her!)

But last night, for me, living in a world where I will NEVER EVER EVER see Prince live again, it felt right. I can't help but imagine that Prince is looking down and smiling SO brightly. He loved performing live! How could he not receive joy in seeing them give their all to us! I personally think this is truly a gift the revolution has graciously given us and I am truly grateful!

I love Apollonia! It is so cool she is there. What a gracious woman to make time for Mpls. She will always be my favorite "Prince" girl! heart

There was a guy that was in line with us and he was down at the stage with us during the show. And he got really moved. Apples knelt down and held his hand and comforted him. It was real sweet. Andre was outside taking pics with people before the show. Susannah and Manuela were hanging out and taking pics with people. It was a real love fest Thurs night.

Thank you so much for sharing. She is just incredible. I wish I could meet her one day. heart

She always struck me as a genuinely positive and warm person.

Me too! She always seemed so kind and friendly. So not typical of an L.A. actress.

I read something she wrote about how she told Prince before he died, "Thank you for chosing me" and how the thankful she was for the role in Purple Rain and I thought that was just so cool to tell him that. Vanity is great too but I'm so happy Apollonia was introduced to us through the film and I thought she was just perfect for the role. I always admired her in my youth and really looked up to her. heart Her being a wonderful person on top of everything just blows me away even more!

What an exhausting weekend. I went to all three shows and I'm so glad to finally have some closure. I was a mess at Thursday's show. Particularly during Sometimes It Snows In April. You can't really tell it by the videos that have been posted, but people were literally sobbing, myself included. It was a little haunting. Friday and Saturday's shows weren't as somber. I commend the Revolution for stepping up to the plate and giving us the opportunity to share in our grief.
