2 min

itaintover 1st gig over, "time to let the rest of the family in", Prince said. Short, but personal and great experience. Thx!

No more wristbands are given away, seems to be two gigs instead of three @itaintover

This shows you how weak 3EG are: these three intimate "aftershows" are basically excerpts from a regular show.

.

And yet the famz will still defend this, even though they claim that P plays the hits "because otherwise the big halls won't fill, but the aftershows will contain the deep cuts". Oops, didn't count on the band still sucking the big one after 18+ months.

Yes, how amazing it is to hear Purple Rain and a sampler set. <snore> The rest of it -- intimate venue and three shows in one night -- are cheap attention grabbing ploys, to show what a special snowflake he is. Musical value? ZERO.

.

Now go listen to the 1988 Trojan Horse aftershow, which took place mere hours after a full Lovesexy show (i.e. one where the band didn't just perform an astonishingly varied setlist, but also danced on a huge stage): listen how the IMPROVISE on the spot, playing fresh, new music. It's so good that it means the recording from that night still is a highlight.

.

These three gigs? Bleh. Throwaways.

What's more amazing is i have been a member here since like 15 years or whatnot, sometimes with the occasional break of a year or two from the forum but apparently one thing has never changed: Bart's negative obession with Prince.I mean, during all this time people have married, babies have been born, presidents have come and go, wars have been fought but it's amazing to see Bart hasn't changed a bit.

It really makes me feel nostalgic as if this were the days of the npgmusicclub or earlier.

Thanks Bart !

I was in antwerp and it was an amazing setlist then. i was eager to go to Brussels also and hoping he would do something different, but i couldn't go and when i see the setlists of the three shows i can only comment that it was the same show but cut in three parts. that's all i was saying and it's true. it was propably a good show with good songs but nothing spectacular. we are used to have different songs in aftershows.

I don't want to be negative, but in a way i agree with Bart. I went to Prince in Antwerp this week and thought he was great that night : played allmost 3 hours, and was in a very good mood. In other words, he gave it all that night

Now....back to the shows yesterday ... it is not possible to give yourself 100 % in 3 shows in 5 hours... so in that way i agree with Bart. It seems to be an easy way to get some extra money for the band.

I feel the same about the Paris concerts this week...why 2 shows in one night ?? The shows in Paris cannot be as good as he played Antwerp last week, as he cannot perform 2 100 % shows....

Nevertheless..... to all you people who are going to Paris, Berlin of Vienna : have fun and enjoy !

No problem with A fro...it's just his is so uneven and patch that it makes him look old and ill at times. It's obviously not as best and tidy and healthy as the beautifully photoshopped ball we see on the posters.

It's his hair so it's up to him...just look how vibrant he looks with the hat on

For once...I agree with you...the reason that 3EG don't do anything else is because they simply aren't dynamic..they are nothing but Prince's backing band.

people are hating on his hair, unbelievable. something more to worry about i guess. lol

I love the afro personaly, but if i didn't it wouldn't bother me at all.

Don't think he looks really old with the hair, and i also don't think he looks unhealthy.

He looks natural with it! so really real with his real hair. what he used to do with his hair is not good for his hair at all, just saying.

ANYWAYS/

Yes, setlists are bit standard, guess it has a reason, i don't know, i wasn't there. i only heard people being happy to be there, so i guess it was great. 3 shows is bit too much though. one show from 2,5 hours would be enough i guess.

i am honoured to finally be 'barted' lol no point in comparing, the past..old arguement that goes around in circles. 3EG are new, lovesexy band were in their prime and at a totally different level. i think there are some very, very spoilt fans on here!.if u want variety just look at some of the gig setlists over the last 5 years, hes done shows for hoyrs playing all sorts. give the man a break and dont b harsh on a young band who r still developing!
