The biggest drawback to me was that the sound in the venue tended to boom and echo, overwhelming vocals when the full band was playing.

Agree.

i posted ahead of times that sound is bad in the venue and when they redid the venue they hung the pa wrong.its always bad in there, the warfield is much better.

these are the venues i would keep an eye on if hes to do another show in sf, the fillmore, warfield, civic center, Great American Music Hall, The Independent, regency ballroom, masonic and offcourse some of the very small clubs

Yeah, I remembered you said that and it explained what I was experiencing. Too bad though, because the Fox is an easy 20 minute bike ride from my house! Any of those other places will be more of a hassle and I'll get stranded in SF without a car. smile

Chaka Kahn sounded great at the Warfield a couple of years ago. And, of course, Prince knows the sound in some of these old venues... He's played 'em before.

prince played the fox not warfield , the warfield sound is great. fox is not ,they dont want to spend the money to rehang the pa correctly

I'm agreeing with you--the sound at the Fox isn't so hot.

Wish he would do yoshi's or sfjazz for the sound. Of course, tickets would be scarce.

Are they ever going to start playing the new material? They have a cd coming out but all they play are the old Prince and other band material. The Breakdown is supposedly the only song that fires Prince up but yet must not that much as he doesn't want to perform it. He would rather play a memorex tape of pre-recorded music and let the crowd singalong. WTF!!?? It sure would be great if we could get a tour with them actually playing their own material that they made. I guess that is wishful thinking though

with all due repect the new music will work fine in theaters and clubs but it will bomb in areaas. he has to sell tickets and 99 percent of the people buying tickets only want the hits.ask the rolling stones the who the eagles .there makinh bank playing the hits to sold out crows in arenas and stadiums.

look at u2 they put off there tour becuase there lastest 2 singles bombed and they dodnt want to due a greatest hits tour and people dont care, they just want the hits.

not say right or wrong its all about selling tickets and economics.

He has plenty of "hits" to choose from. How many more times do we have to sit through Let's Go Crazy and She's Always in My Hair?

Prince is like a Rainbow, too many colors to count,

We all have our favorite color,

and we are all different,

He can only project so many of his colors in a two hour show

and some of those folks may not see their favorite color that night

and other folks will...

Remember ... He IS only human!

We have to remember to appreciate the whole spectrum of his Rainbow!

There is nothing on Live Nation, nothing on Ticketmaster, nothing on Fox Theater and nothing on Dr Funkenberry.

So in this theory then you are saying that someone like Madonna is much bigger than Prince? To me I don't think so. Madonna tours with each album and DOES NOT play a greatest hits show. You are lucky to get 6 hits if that. She plays the new album, charges a RIDICULOUS ticket price and sells out 18,000 a night. I think Prince could easily sell out 7-10,000 seat venues like he did on the Act 1 tour and play the new material and everyone will be happy. I have passed on a few shows in recent years because I am tired of the same show. Now the opening set of this tour looks great!! but then the second half looks like it just blows as its all rehashed piano medley/sampler set crap. I would love to see a 70% new stuff and 30% old stuff reworked 3rd eye style. If he mixed the setlist right people would love it!! The Diamonds and Pearls tour was fantastic and he did this formula. Act 1 was great!! Gold tour was great, Rainbow Children tour was great and those were new material. I guess its just wishful thinking.

Got this from the Twitter feed from 3rdeyegirl: "@3RDEYEGIRL: JUST ONE DAY , ONE THOUSAND SPACES & ONLY 3 FRIENDS..WHAT WOULD U DO 2 FILL MORE?" Are they hinting a show at the Fillmore in SF? Also, on DrFunkenberry saw a Tweet that simply read "319". Does that mean tix go onsale on 3/19 for a Fillmore show this Saturday? But then I saw somewhere (can't remember where) that said Prince would be performing in NY this Saturday. So I dunno what's up, but I am keeping my eyes and ears open. Was not able to get any tickets for the Fox show and was very upset with the games that Ticketmaster played with the fans. I sent them an email asking about what happened to the 3/16 show they had listed and they said it was posted by mistake. So they make the same mistake twice? I hate Ticketmaster.
