I would put the chances of that at 100 pecent and good for her. Either she rushed home and had some fun with her partner or alone but there was just too much excitement for it to not manifest itself sexually smile

*

Is that the goal behind the music & Paisley parties? Just curious. neutral

I suppose that is always a goal in life in general smile) but I was commenting mainly on her excitement that she was exhibiting in her video.

Sexual excitement always a goal in life? Really? OK. Maybe for some (not everyone). lol

*

I've never gone to a Paisley party (or a concert) with the intent of getting sexually stimulated. I went for the music, dancing & to have fun meeting new people. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

*

I didn't listen to the entire video so I can't comment on her sexual excitement. I only watched about half of the video because she wasn't saying much. Just being kinda drifty (not to be mean). wink

To clarify, I think you and I may see GOALS as something entirely different. I see goals as an ambition, higher calling or something you put your mind & heart into (aim, desired end, etc.). To me, sexual excitement doesn't fall under GOALS because sexual excitement (as a general rule) can be easily obtained (by self or with another). I don't think many people (in the general public) would define their GOAL in life as sexual excitement. Do you feel that I'm wrong in that assessment?

I find it strange that Prince still has this need for parties. With NPG, 3EG, Liv Warfield and fans as props.

Don't get me wrong, if I lived in MN I would've tried to go and enjoyed myself. But it's still a bit strange or sad, don't ya think?

For a second I thought it was a live feed from the next room but once the music started I realized it was simply amazing footage of the Montreux concert with NPG and 3rdEyeGirl. I'm a huge fan of live DVDs and I have to say the sound and editing of this one was virtually perfect...the killer sound system in the room didn't hurt either!

All of 3rdEyeGirl was sitting right in front of our couch on the floor rocking out to the DVD. I have to admit it was cool when Hanna or Donna was closeup on the screen and I could look down and watch their reactions 5 feet from me! smile

We got to see the Act of God medley along with Take me With U sequed into Rasberry Beret. The Cool/MJ mashup was also played either before or after but I can't remember for sure the exact order. I was completely jamming out during the show too...such a tight funky performance!

Once the DVD stopped Nemo resumed on the backdrop and the dance party continued until about 3:00 when all of the sudden the wall seperating the room from the soundstage literally slid open to reveal Liv and her band playing on the stage. Something like this was so cool and is typical Paisley Park!

The security directed the crowd into the other room and Prince followed directly behind us.

It was surreal being dead center on the rail in front of the stage watching a Liv performance with only about 40 other people! I continue to be impressed with Liv and her powerhouse vocals. She sang like she was in front of an arena sized crowd! All the while during her 45 minute set Prince was behind us dancing and giving cues to the sound man and little directions on little tweaks such as the sound of the snare by making a tapping motion with his hand.

3rdEyeGirl watched the show from one of the elevated platforms on the side of the soundstage so I had a feeling that we were not going to get a Prince show but I was in no way dissapointed. Once Liv's set was over I looked back and saw Prince shake the sound man's hand and make his way to his favorite exit door at the back of the room. One of the crowd yelled "thanks Prince!" and he turned around and smiled while waving back at us. Moments like this are almost too cool to put into words!

Security directed us back into the adjoining room where the DJ continued to play music but you could tell the night was winding down. At around 4:00 the lights came on and they put out all the candles that were on the tables so we knew that this dance party was over. Before we left Liv was waiting with her band for their ride and we had a chance to talk to her. She is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met and told us to drive home safe since in her words it was really bad outside.

Little did we know that in the 4 hours we had been inside 6 inches of snow had fallen! A note to others: if you are going to roadtrip to Paisley make sure you check the weather forecast. wink

Thankfully I have a 4 wheel drive truck and the 2 hour drive home ended up taking over 4 since I had to contend with 2 foot drifts and large snow plows all the way home.

Was the trip worth it you might ask? Hell yes!!! Any chance you might get to go to Paisley for ANYTHING I would advise you to do it.

See you next time!

Thank u for taking the time to post a great review...

I didn't hear about it until WAY late either (like on Sunday, giggle). However, I couldn't have gone anyhow as I haven't been feeling well for quite some time now (a month & a half & counting). Fingers crossed that I'll be back to normal again soon. I'm tired of being sick. sad

The weather was really treacherous too with all that snow. nod

Ok I wasn't clear enough. When I read alzeppelin's great review two thoughts occurred to me. One was the beginning of Matt Thorne's book (which I am currently re-reading) where he describes attending a Prince party in LA for celebrities, the mystique and exclusivity of it, and the other thought was a comment Allan Leeds made last year in a panel discussion that everything Prince does is for effect and that being around Prince is like being on a movie set where Prince is the director and everyone is a prop (I am paraphrasing and not sure if the second part of the reference is from the panel discussion or the book).

Hence me thinking this is sad because the above comments by people who actually have met him and he still feels the need to do these parties.
And strange because I mean lets face it, its friggin cold in MN, snowing, last minute invite via Funkenberry only, only 40 people turn up, but everyone at PP has to go through this elaborate production which is of course huge fun for those fans attending but from a distance, taking off the purple coloured glasses, it is strange.

What if its only strange to you? lol Maybe this is normal for Prince. Maybe Prince isn't putting up a front or "staging for effect". Perhaps it really is just his life and this sort of thing comes naturally to him and feels "normal"?

A fantastic review, thanks for putting that together. I think it's nice of Prince to put on such a dance party, and he's just sharing his building and music with fans. He has the facility there to be used, with band members available, so it's an act of generousity as I see it that he put this all together. After all, ten dollars each wouldn't surely have covered the cost of the party, so he did it to watch people have a good time as his guests and give Liv's band a workout. Of course, it probably also strokes his ego, but it's always been thus.
