Question about seating for Welcome 2 Chicago I was wondering if anyone who has been to any of the welcome 2 America shows could tell me which is better between floor seating and stadium seating? I should also mention i plan on getting the $150 tickets.so I'm not quite sure how far back on the floor i would be with those. I want to be as close as possible obviously but floor seating wouldn't mean much if i could barely see prince the whole night due to being in the last row of floor seating. So ultimately i guess my question is, given the previously mentioned factors, would you go for $150 floor seats or try to shoot for lower level stadium seating instead?

I would go for the first tier above the floor, toward the point of the symbol. I'm just saying...

I went to several W2A concerts in the U.S. and I had floor seating in front of the arrow as well as first tier arena seating for other shows. In my experience, the best seats, by far, were the elevated first tier arena seats between the point of the arrow and the curved cross section of the symbol. If you have first tier seats near the rail, you have an excellent view of Prince as well as the entire stage. Prince tends to go out on the curved cross section of the symbol, on both sides, and play to the crowd and this affords a close view that is slightly above the level of the stage, which is pretty tall if you are on the floor. The piano is always set up on one side of the curved cross section. It has been my experience that he tends to spend more time playing guitar on the opposite side of the piano section of the symbol. I hope this helps and good luck on your tix! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Elevated is better. The only exception was at the Forum in L.A. where the seats directly in front of the arrow were slightly raised off of the floor.

I agree, first tier or even 2nd tier. I was on the floor a few times and it was difficult to see Prince. It was even difficult to see the jumbo screens from the floor having to look straight up and lean back. I got the floor ones when I absolutley felt like I had to go to the concert and if they were $25 (in LA there were random $25 seats) but for $150 I wouldn't recommend them. Good luck. Enjoy.

For those going.....
For a virtual seating tour, just run the mouse over the image. The seating is pretty much set up like when there's a basketball game, but you can view how close you'll be to the stage from the seat you purchased, when you type in your section number, next to seat search on the chart:
Virtual seating chart - just type in your section, to see how far you'll be from the stage;remember, it's basically set up like http://www.unitedcenter.c...viewer.asp

Is it just me or did ticketmaster just reverse the direction of the stage? If so that is seriously messed up!!

That's messed up. allright. That will make it different than any other W2A concerts in the U.S.--the symbol stage always faced the floor seats. [Edited 9/6/12 9:17am] "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Here's the seating chart of the 24th concert:
and here's the 25th version...and there's differences
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Noting the differences above - see sections 106, for example, on 24th and 25th -a recently-signed up member has sent a message to the mods to advise that they have contacted Ticketmaster - who stated that the plan showing for the 25th is the correct plan.
It is not clear whether that means that the seating plan for the 24th is incorrect!
Please note, we do not have any official Ticketmaster confirmation, so would suggest that ticketholders seek clarification directly.

Just got off the phone with a rep from ticketmaster AND a rep for the United center who confirmed the arrow will point to section 117 for the 9/24 show and will change direction for the next night. Also. thank you to everyone who responded to my question. I originally splurged and got the $500 VIP tickets but then after thinking about all your posts I changed my mind, cancelled my order and got tickets for 9/24 in the lower level of section 117, row H for half the price of what the VIP tickets cost. Hope to see you guys there and thanks again.

Thank you for posting this! And for calling Ticketmaster, et. al., to find out. I had just sent a rather terse inqiry via the Ticketmaster website myself. Am/was starting to freak out that my awesome seats in section 118 on the 24th were suddenly complete shit if the map for the 25th was indeed the correct one.

I went through a similar experience earlier. this is my first prince show and i was terrified i might not have the seats i ordered, luckily it all worked out.

I know, right?! I'm in 122, which is fine for the 24th, but not quite as good for the 25th. I was getting ready to pitch a fit to Ticketbastard. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Heading over to Ticketmaster outlet to get my tickets RIGHT NOW. This thread has been invaluable because I would have got tickets on the wrong side for the 24th.
Fingers crossed that its not sold out and I can get decent seats.
Thanks Prince.org.
So the stage is facing section 117 on the 24th. That's my conclusion.

Mine, too.
If I'd spent hours on Tuesday morning trying to get the best tickets I could and then found out they were the worst possible seats, I'd be piiiiiiiiissed. Even so, what we're seeing above for the 24th map is not what was showing on TM at the time of purchase. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Well, my Tickemaster outlet had the 24th as sold out. I KNEW I should haved just bought tickets on Wednesday.
And, since I need three seats next to each other, I'm in section 318, which SHOULD be to the side of the stage, but not behind for the 25th.
I've never had a problem being high up or even relatively far back (it's nice to take in the whole crowd). Saw Maxwell/Jill Scott in St. Louis from that position and it was just fine. Much more concerned about the angle of view.
Anyway, not the best seats, but I'm seeing Prince!!!
Someone upthread mentioned returning VIP tickets and exchanging them. Can you return Ticketmaster tickets? If for some reason, they haven't released some tickets for the 24th and/or I check again tomorrow and for some reason there are better seats available can I exchange my tickets. [I know, this probably will not happen, but I will check once.]
My tickets were "only" 89.50 each. This was the one time I really didn't care about price, and I end up in the cheap seats anyway. Lol. [Edited 9/7/12 10:11am] [Edited 9/7/12 10:13am]

Or am I in the right side in 306?

Um I called the United Center yesterday and today just now again to double check and both times they said what's currently shown in the seating chart is correct and final. The arrow points towards 117 on the 24th and it points to 106 on the 25th. That's what they meant by arrow "changes" direction on the 25th. Also called the ticket master and talked to the event information rep and she told me the same thing...
You guys can called the United Center (312)455-4500 directly and hear it yourselves. Good luck everyone...

United Center Monday, September 24th at 8:00PM Don’t worry – for the show on September 24th - your view, seat and section in the lower bowl (sections 101-122) will not change! Everything remains exactly as it was when you first purchased. However, since the event went on sale, the stage and lower bowl (sections 101-122) have changed direction in unison.

Don't go to outlet, they usually don't even sell great seats anyway. Yeah I'm getting 2 more tickets for my friends too. Actually they just released a bunch of new platinum seats today on ticketmaster.com for the 24th. Looks like only the box office tickets including all the VIP tix are sold out but when I called them they said they're planning to get even more tickets for the platinum seats for 24th in the future

Yup so the maps are correct, got ya =)
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
and that goes for the upper sections as well? sorry to keep asking, it's all very confusing
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Great info.
But, can I return the tickets I bought from the outlet? (At least get the face value refunded. I'm assuming they'll keep payment for certain fees, etc.)
I have my "ok" tickets for the 25th. I'll check for better seats and 24th tickets online. But, obviously I don't want to return the ones I have until I have other ones secured. So, I'm risking buying double tickets. So does anyone know if you can return tickets to Ticketmaster? If so, within a certain time after purchase?
Ticketmaster website says no tickets available online. Weird. [Edited 9/7/12 11:58am]

Don't be sorry I was sooo confused too lol Yup so the maps at ticketmast.com for 24th and 25th are correct. So there's no change for 200 and 300 level sections.

Sorry, I'm not sure, I think the best way to find out is to call the outlet and ask them if you can refund the ticket =( Oh only the platinum seats are available for 24th. Ticketmaster

I got the same letter. They know they fucked up.
Oh, well - the tech crew will get a little overtime, since they'll have to break it all down and flip it between shows 1 and 2. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
