The "I CAN'T STAND PRINCE SETLISTS FROM CONCERTS I DIDN'T GO TO!" sticky OK, here it is. THE place for all you that hate Prince's setlists to complain about them. All your whines, rants and slams at setlists from concerts that you didn't go to, but somehow 15,000 other people did and enjoyed themselves.
Mods, sticky this! | |

I hate the sampler crap he does. Thats the beer and bathroom time for me. I am used to him playing the hits so I am cool with that. Thats pretty much what he is now an 80s artists trying to keep afloat like all of the other legend who are not around anymore. That part is fine with me but what a waste of a segment for this sampler crap. Its easy though so that probably one reason he does it. Not much effort on his part

I STRONGLY agree! I hate how people always say "Oh, Prince didnt play this song, or that song, that concert must have sucked!" Oh really? Cuz i was there and it was off the chain! People are complaining about the Toronto concert, and didnt even go. I was there, and it was the bomb. Its not just toronto though, it's all of his shows. And people say Prince only plays for casual fans...... okay... Well, there arent 20,000 HARD CORE fans in every city to play for. In order to fill an Arena, he HAS to play songs everybody knows, and usually he DOES throw a Gem or two into the mix. At the Toronto concert he played a song nobody knew, and EVERYBODY sat down and stopped singing along. (I swear he made the song up, on the spot.. haha!) Do you think he wants to play a show all night where everybody is staring at him? It would be boring for him AND the fans. Whereas if he plays a show where everybody knows the words and can sing along, the show will run a LOT smoother, and the Majority of attendees will be HAPPY and glad to have gone, and will come again, which in return will boost his ticket sales, which in return will give him more money, which in return will make him happy as well as the fans.
My point is, prince HAS to play music everybody knows or the concert wont run as well, BECAUSE the majority of attendees are casual fans.
Theres my rant for ya.. "From The Heart of Minnesota, here come the Purple Yoda, guaranteed to bring a dirty new sound... Come on Ya'll!"

ya it's pretty ridiculous that the people who complain the most about the setlists are always the ones who don't attend shows. Also, It's also worth mentioning to those who judge concerts based on setlists that when u go to a concert they just don't show u a list of songs.. the songs are performed with great singing, guitar playing and tight band and showmanship.

Not only should this be a sticky, but it should be on the home page.
The people have spoken.

Thing is, this thread will only be kept alive by people who dislike the ones that thread has been created for...
They are not even going to post here, it's much more funnier for them to troll all the other threads... Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

So far this thread has been kept alive by people telling me how great I am. I'm fine with that!
But seriously, I've noticed the culprits being quite a bit nicer in the other threads. If they get out of line in a thread, just remind them we created this thread for them and give them the link.
Honestly, why this isn't front page news, I don't know.

Actually, this thread made me think of two middle-aged women I met at the Prince W2A in New Jersey. At first, they were whooping and hollering about getting to see Prince. Then, when we were allowed to move from floor seats to the front of the arrow of the symbol stage at the end of the concert, they were complaining about how much better and younger Prince and Sheila E. looked than they did! Hunh?!! I told them they looked great (which they did) but all they did was complain after that--especially when they didn't get selected to go on stage. That night Prince asked for MEN to come up and dance with SHEILA. Those two women were bitter as hell over that. Jeez! It was a terrific concert! We were allowed to dance at the tables at the front of the stage. I left that middle-aged jealousy behind and danced my ass off! Because they are great songs! Prince is paying his respect to a musician that has inspired him and Larry more than anybody. And we all know what state Sly is in, so this is probably the closest we'll ever get to seeing Sly and the Family Stone live. And it might introduce Sly to folks in the audience who don't know him yet.

I'm responding to L4thoriginal's response to my last post on the 12/8 concert thread.
Ok, but...it still doesn't take away from the fact that often times, when someone posts their concert experience, and you see the setlists, you use that as a format for determining that's it's the 'same old, same old (insert here) show". Yet you continue to say others are entitled to their opinions, so if they liked the show regardless of the setlists you find 'familiar', don't use that as your judgement to say it's all the same, type shows, especially when you weren't present at a paricular show to determine the result of it. I mean come L4, you can't deny talking bs when you have both your feet stuck deep in it. [Edited 12/12/11 8:40am]
