Once again, thank you Serpan, for finding the best pictures!! I love them all. biggrin

But no wonder - Prince looked awesome again! Especially in the beginning with that red jacket!

I enjoyed the concert very much, there was a good vibe and the crowd responded to Prince very well, although there were definitely a lot of young people there whose first time it was to see him live. You could tell because the majority did not seem to know the songs he played on the sampler set, which Prince noticed by saying "There's no old school here today", or something like that. wink

Still, they were mostly enthusiastic and cheered and clapped every time Prince left the stage for him to come back, including "Prince! Prince! Prince" chants! biggrin

There is nothing I can say about his performance except - WOW!!! He did it all - the funk grooved hard, the slow songs were emotional, the "flirting" with the crowd out on the catwalk was sweet, and the party songs were stomping!

I loved everything about this concert, my special highlights were The One/U will be with me and Gold (heard live for the first time, very touching). And best of all - his big smiles!!! biggrin

Thank U again, Prince, and please return soon!!!!

He was flirting a looot! eek What was that "this is for all the girls here" and then started singing altering his lyrics: "it’s only a matter of time U will be... u will ALL be... u will ALL be with me" ??? lol

according to PrinceVault there was a crowd of 60.000 in attendance, I can hardly believe that.last year he couldn´t even sell out the Wiener Stadthalle which is way smaller.

any infos on that ?

Not impossible. Don't forget that half of the audience was only there to have fun and party somewhere because didn't find any other place at the festival to go to at that time. wink Fans who only paid to see Prince were less than that... so the number could be real, although I'd say we weren't no more than 45-50.000. Which is still a great achievement. cool

^^ And I think that those people who were watching Prince only because they were at the Festival already anyway did get a real treat and might have been surprised about what a great live performer he is! biggrin

Do you know anyone who saw Prince just "by chance"? And - what does the Hungarian press say about the concert? Positive reviews, I hope?

I don't know anyone in person who was there just because of the festival, because all of my friends came to festival only for Prince and then stayed afterwards at the festoval for a couple of drinks maybe, but I did read that some were just there and loved the show, of course all of them were surprised how great he is.

Some of the ppl I know came to the show because we told them not to miss it, and it was the first time they saw Prince live and they were blown away too.

As for the Hungarian press. I read around 10-15 reviews and all of them said the same thing. THE BEST CONCERT SZIGET OFFERED IN THE PAST 15 YEARS!!! Some went into details, could see that they were real critiques, who clearly know a lot about Prince's music; how great he is in all of those instruments, praised his singing and stage presence, weren't really impressed with his dancing though: "The king was better at it." lol Others were surprised because they never thought that an artist known for having such a huge ego would be this friendly an communicative with the audiance. I even read somewhere (kokingly) that he most probably got paid extra money for each time he creamed: HUNGARY!! lol And they all loved the fact that he never gave the impression that he has no idea where he is and that the communication wasn't one-sided, he kept asking us if we are fine and "what about ya'll in the back, and lemme hear ya sing, now this side, now that side, now the ladies, now the fellas, now everybody... You have no idea how beautiful you all sound. Okay, I heard ya'll sing, now I wanna see ya'll dance... come up on the stage. Hungary, we love you, Hungary you're amazing, what a night", etc. etc. This is not something that the Hungarians are used to and of course seeing such a magnificent genius super star be this humble and kind to his fans is something that must be greatly appreciated. wink

Almost all critiques highlighted one weak point of the concerts which was... uhm... ... well... Andy Allo. neutral

Super great... No doubts there. Although my boyfriend thinks otherwise.

I think in person she is really really pretty. Cute, thin, flawless skin, pretty face and huge fluffy hair. fro I am a girl though, so it isn't very appropriate for me to praise her looks too much. People might misunderstand. lol

I really can't say I am back on earth after last night. Still floating in the purple sky... But I'll try to sum up. First row, best spot, in the corner. In one sentence: THE SHOW WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! I was blown away, and felt somewhat compensated for Cologne.

Highlights: (non-musical)

- chatting and fooling round with John and Morris razz Highfives, hand shakes, talking, it was really cool.

- my own drum stick from John and a towel from Cassandra. razz

- almost getting a T-shirt from Andy, I say almost because she heard me screaming Andy, Andy here, here and she looked at me and threw me the shirt but the guy next to me caught it. confused The intention matters, she wanted me to have that T-shirt, so that must count for something. lol

Highlights: (musically)

- THE WHOLE SHOW!! That's it! Nothing more to add. Prince was happy, felt really good, was in a good mood, played everything I wanted to hear, the sound was perfect. But what I most liked was hearing him play the bass eek OMG!!! I almost cried, plus Purple rain awesome, awesome performance, really nailed it and last but not least The one!!! It was beautiful. People really got all emotional at U will b with me, it was also amazing!!! Everything was great. The best Prince concert sofar I've been to. hug

Thank you Prince, thank you NPG!!! C U all soon, I hope!

We probably saw each other then hmmm. I think I remember you, but I did not recognize you when it happened. I was wearing the cap I am wearing here, tight black Jeans and black boots.

Thank you for sharing these details about the review! Great to hear they all loved him! smile

And yes, it is always one of the biggest surprises for everyone who sees him live the first time - aside from his musicianship - that he comes across so friendly and communicative! smile It was actually my biggest surprise, too, last year in Vienna, when I saw him live for the first time since 1993 (!!) and I did not remember him being that outgoing and kind in the past. I love him even more for being like that, because it adds a lot to his stage presence. biggrin

why does he keep doing Cool, The Bird and Jungle Love? Do you guys really want to see Prince do these songs? Im just curious what everyone thinks. Personally, I hate hearing him do these. Its just not The Time. Yeah I know he wrote them but I don't want to hear him sing these(especially every concert). I cringe everytime. Whats your thoughts? I would much rather hear 3 of his own songs that he released instead.

[Edited 8/9/11 21:37pm]

I love it. He needs to take all of these songs back. They are too good to sit on the sidelines. THEY ARE HIS LEGACY. I actually wan to start hearing more associated artist tracks. Screams of Passion, 101, Madhouse, 777-7311. Too many great songs that need to be played live.

If some are too risque for his new life, instrumental versions will be just as cool for me. "Get It Up" comes to mind.

Great concert, indeed. I loved it, too. I was looking for some reviews online, but couldn't find any in English.

Not sure if this was mentioned already, but the organizers of Sziget admitted the Prince show didn't pay off and the festival wasn't profitable this year mostly because of his salary. No surprise because many people of my age already don't seem to know Prince, his last hit was so long ago, and the majority of the crowd were the foreigners who didn't come just for him...

It wasn't intentionally. DON'T BELIEVE A WORD OF IT!!!! The organizers are just complaining to have the state involved in financing the festival next year. You don't want to know how much money they gone home with after the festival. Maybe Prince would be surprised as well. eek Forget about how profitable or non profitable the Prince concert was . It has nothing to do with it. Prince was one out 300 concerts played on the festival. And much more ppl came this year... So them saying the whole festival was not profitable because they had to pay Prince so much is the biggest bullcrap I ever heard!!! It makes me sick to my stomack. mad

My highfive with John was before the concert. He was joking around with me cus he pulled away his hand before I could reach it, then re-reached it and we eventually highfived. After the concert I had a small conversation with Morris plus we shook hands. wink

Sorry if I was misleading...
