So even when a bandmember posts something that is for everyone to see and here, the 'policy' disallows linking to that source. Go figure...

If you don't understand my surprise, please think of the freedom that you had a decade or two ago.

And yes, I do like the act of posting music by the band, I do like the piece.

No. Just that the org policy, I believe, doesn't include small print to the nth degree about links by Prince band members posting links in forums. Perhaps that could change. Anyway I'm gonna go on a lil part related rant now. smile...

But think seriously - who owns Prince? Prince does. When he performs live it's an art piece. It's a painting. Shouldn't he be the only one who owns that? Of course.

Can we go and copy the Mona Lisa? Nope! It's illegal. So why should we (the listeners) set demands on (the artist) how we have access to the artform. We shouldn't. Prince understands this and sets barriers that are quite sensible.

apparently it is forbidden - I was given a warning by an admin because I reposted a link, that Andy Allo posted on her site - as I don't wanna break this rule I only can post a hint where to find smile strange but true

Damn, you people will think UP shit to bitch about. Nevermind the fact that it's like ten minutes of audio FROM a concert; instead of being excited about that, you bitch about the fact that you can't link to it here. rolleyes

No. Just that the org policy, I believe,

I have a suspicion where this part of the 'policy' comes from.

I don't need policing by a policy.

I don't need extra over carefull policies, especially not when it is blatantly clear that material is intended for distribution.

And do not get me started about deeplinking. A http link to Andy's facebook would have been enough.

But no, you scare users into weird obedience to absurd policies.

doesn't include small print to the nth degree about links by Prince band members posting links in forums. Perhaps that could change.

When the DMCA (and other **AA-centric laws) change.

Can we go and copy the Mona Lisa? Nope! It's illegal.

You think so?

How old is that painting?

Who made it?

How dead are they?

How long were they like that?

What does the law say?

Even with current stupid law it is OK I guess to print whatever copy of the Mona Lisa.

The strange and funny thing about this site is that Prince's boy, ?love over at okayplayer has prince video and mp3 posted daily. Yet, here, you guys are scared to post anything. Oh yeah, they actually have decent discussions about his miusic w/out some mod censoring or snipping what folks say. Your rules and censorship are stupid

We already have recordings of concerts.

And because of the excitement it is the more annoying we can't share (link to...) this very specific recording that is on a sort of official page.

You know why that is.

Because of the industrial complex that has too much power in the USA.

Laws are not there for the people...
