I agree 100%. I'll never ever 4get that one smile

and that's a man who knows his gigs. i think the only one in the uk i know that's seen prince more times than me, and in the world there are only a handful of people i know that have been to more gigs than me, and that's saying something

what did you think of hop farm btw? it had it's moments like the soundcheck and cool/don't stop but the hits aren't too exciting the 100th time around

Hop was...ok.

I think the problem with me Unique is I feel I may have reached Prince saturation point, to be totally honest I have been feeling like this since the autumn (or fall, if u prefer) of 2007. I dunno whats wrong with me sad

i kinda know what you mean, but i'm still excited by the aftershows, and some of the gigs in the past few years have been really great. i was a bit princed out and spoiled by the o2 but i could have kept on going and going and going as long as i had the aftershows

Yes that's pretty much how i feel. Not really bothered with the main show just wanna see a real tight, kickass aftershow, one like the '95 Glasgow Garage, i.e. no filler, leave Larry on the tour bus reading the good book and stuff a big sock in Shelby's gob. She does my freaking head in. Lol.

I generally agree that stadiums should only be for sporting events . . . unless of course you're Bruce Springsteen who makes it feel like your living room. drink

Did any of u go to the SECC gigs in March 1995? They totally blew me away, still get excited when I think back on them. Were any of u up the front for them?

i was front row at both and also the aftershow at the garage. i met wee jimmy for the first time in the line for SECC. it was me that took the tape of the gold experience that someone was playing on a boombox in the line. i remember crew members walking past and staring when they heard it

Haha I was talkin about that yesterday in the cue for malahide, where's uinquee and a ghettobaster when u need him?

Just back for dublin and what a gig, prince buzzing and a great atmosphere with the crowd not to offend anyway but the atmosphere at gigs in england is shite more so in london so am glad on my first visit to gods country the irish didn't let me down. I can see where the prince overload feelin came from at the o2 I'd find myself leavin the main gig to get a good place in the cue for the indigo2, so that's me done with travelling to see him unless its along the M8 to the Edinburgh to see him, at my first ever gig as a 12year old prince told me he'd come to my crib and play the music the record company says we couldn't keep up with he's broke that deal!!!! But anyway malahide... One of the best main shows I'v been too

i gotta say that after seeing the dublin setlist i'm glad i didn't bother as it was similar to hop park apart from gold, jungle love and the sample set. instead of the sample set we got larry graham and instead of gold we got we live 2 get funky as part of the soundcheck. so just two tracks that i missed

so much for a 3 hour show and aftershow. i would have been a bit more dissapointed if i missed that. europe got all the best shows

if you haven't seen prince since 95 it's understandable, but i've seen about a hundred gigs since then and whlist many raved about hop park it was just another hits gig and i seen enough of the musicolgoy and 21 nites shows to never need to hear another hits set. these days i mainly go to thee main shows in case there's an aftershow

Could u imagine how fabulous it would be if he
decided to fly here to do a wee impromptue gig

unbelievable! He's free will the 2nd August?

Prince in the barra's would be amazing!!! If I could pick anywhere for him to play it would be there, an aftershow would be mindblowing in there. My friend from school is the events manager for the secc and she is well train anything prince related I get a phone call, just txt her she's heard nothin at all, last time was when his ppl equired about the armadilo for the ONA tour they sent all the info on free dates etc and never heard anything back from prince or his ppl must have not fitted in with the rest of the dates on the tour sad think prince could deal with gettin hit with a pint of tennents if he played the barra's??? Can get pretty wild in there sometimes!

Well here it goes folks, number one..just coz Prince can sell shows in London and everybody will travel does not meen that he doesnt owe it 2 his fans who(on the back of his inimatable talent and drive)got him 2 where he is 2day 2 play in their home town..as much as i love travelling it is defo becoming a pain in the arse going 2 everywhere on the globe except yer hometown, and the dude was right 2 say its even more remarkable that he hasnt played here again considering the sheer quality of the shows he played here...

The crowd at Parkhead, Meadowbank, Secc and The Garage where by far better than any the shows ive seen in other countries, fuck me the crowd at the Garage was fukin wild as Unique says cats were on tables and chairs..the garage still had those couches bolted 2 the wall all round the venue..i was one of those cats on a circular table just 2 the right of the front of the stage..was on there with 2 other people rockin it out @ 17 years of age...has 2 be said though the concept of the Garage being wilder than The Barras is lost on me, it is completely customary 2 throw pints of lager in the air in the Barras, on the stage at the band..its like the done thing at The Barras..so that simple fact would have me in serious doubt about Prince playing there..every time im at a gig in The Barras and i see the pints flying i think no fukin way could Prince play here..i know dif fans dif crowd but trust me flying pints is obligitory!!! lol

Also on the topic of cats whov seen Prince 100+ times, well ive major respect 4 u cats but trust me u are overloading yourselves 2 the point where ure desensitizing yourself 2 greatness, what clearly is greatness 2 most becomes the norm, some times even not up 2 "your" standard. Anybody currently rokin with the hundred plus blues i advise at least 5 years on the wagon, it may be your only hope...biggrin

The Dublin gig was quite simply amazing, i was front row centre..the sound, vibe, atmosphere was amazing, tust me if you read any bad reviews for this gig please considor the reviewer to be tripping out of his tattie scon(in a bad way in the head department) was easily one of best shows ive been 2, ad like 2 say that just because people read that he played a similar set 2 another gigs they were at does not meen that the gigs were identical. He could play the exact same set list 2 nights in a row at dif places n one could be far greater coz of the day, the vibe, atmosphere, his mood..everything like that...so in a way in guess im saying dont be glad that you didnt come coz it was a hits show or similar 2 what u seen last week..this was a stone wall classic gig..mainly coz i fukin say so, lol only joking...

Now the secc shows where the bold Unique strolled up and spoke 2 me 4 the first time were indescribable 2 me...i fuckin love the hits so ive maybe seen him play better gigs than these shows coz it was all Gold Experience stuff but its hard 2 say any where better than these shows because of the vibe!! 17 years of age, in your hometown, all your friends there waiting from 6.30am, even more turning up as every hour goes by..being young is hard 2 describe..the way things feel 2 you at that age..u know at this time i was starstruck when i saw Prince..the whole thing has a different effect on you..gotta give MAJOR respect 2 Unique here because he made our day that day, we were all young Prince fans we didnt even know where 2 get a fuckin bootleg never mind own one and up rocks the Bold yin..he clued us up and was a beyond a wealth of information 2 us, he brought in the Gold Experience 4 the 2nd night n we were busting vibes all day as the perplexed security looked on in bemusment..such a vibe, someone produced a red marker pen and before u knew it half the cats had slave on their faces but i seem 2 rember askin Unique 2 write JIM on my face..just a pure buzz...and comin people we cant talk about the SECC shows without mentioning Mayte gettin the breasts out!!! Thats write 4 those of you that were not there or where lookin away at that moment Mayte tried to take her top of on stage and her wee bra came of with it.a split second moment of maytes bare chest...Prince turned 2 the crowd witha smile and a face as if 2 say, ""wooops"!!!

Unique hooked me up with so much music after they gigs that i realy want 2 say cheers 2 you 4 that m8, back in the days of a cassete you realy bust a move taping them 4 me m8, there was no click n send back then m8..u opend my world 2 that side of Prince id never seen or heard before..i still have all the tapes m8, now copied 2 cd..major respect dude....

On a leaving note my bro Tashboolegs (or Ryan since he, like me does not give a fuck about remaining an anonamous figure on here) just phoned me 2 say that our friend at the secc just phoned him and told him that the rumours where true about shows in secc, he asked me 2 apoligize to the dude who said that he had a friend at secc, i think he rubbished you claim..she just phoned and said that the rmours were true, that they were only rumors but not org or fan rumours but rumours within the industry, she said there was talk of interest at playing Glasgow inbetween his festval shows, she knows fuck all about Prince or the fact that hes even playing festival shows so sounds reasonable 2 me, she has as always informed us that the first mention of a show anywhere in Scotland wel be the first cats in Scotland 2 get tickets, also that if it turned out 2 be all seated she can hook us up so there like 10 of us all together...we owe u Unique..if that gig happens were gettin your ticket, n its all good, but until then lets awe keep prayin:D

thing is jimmy, it's up to promotors to figure out a deal with prince's people and no-one has pulled that off in 16 years. and with him playing outside gigs and arenas in europe the last few times, and even skipping london this time, it's unlikely we are going to see a SECC gig soon, especially when you consider he's mainly been doing 1 gig per country, which is the way to sell out a massive gig if everyone has no option to go elsewhere

the SECC gigs and glasgow aftershow were particularly good due to the period, as he was playing his best stuff then and even back then if he did play the hits few people were bored of them at that point, it's only in the later years that folks have went batshit mental and going to every gig under the sun

i'm cool about not seeing prince in a while as i've seen him so much, it's just the aftershows i don't want to miss as those are the great shows. even then he still does a bunch of special shows that aren't aftershows, like montreux and north sea jazz. maybe he should do the edinburgh festival and play every night in a portacabin to 3 men and a drunken student, never playing the same song twice, no sly covers and no mentions of the wee baby jesus or any of that crap

my understanding is that there were two dates in July that were provisionally held for Prince. this news was given to me early July and came from a strong source within secc.

hope i'm wrong and August is a possibility but i've been sitting hoping for a month but to no avail.

my memory of the garage is faded a bit now but the first time i heard funky design blew me away. sadly i got to hear the show not that long ago again and funky design was missing sad

if i hear anything further i'll post.

cheers

Oh my, for real?? I can only pray & hope that this is true! Is this whispered rumour very recent by the way?

Maybe he's heard our cries in the wilderness....The musical tumbleweeds have been blowing through Glasgow for too long now. I'd go out into the wilderness myself & eat nothing but locusts & wild honey till he comes, if it would help!

batting eyes

My uncle said this last Wednesday . . . I'd be shocked if it came to fruition as he has been wrong in the past. In other words it's a long shot. drink
