Its very simple when PRINCE mixes up the set list somewhat, plays more of what you dont hear all the time he is more on fire, he is great no matter what, but the more un-heard the stuff he plays the better. This was my 79th show of Prince number 80 will be in Feb. and this one was the best of this tour by far by miles and miles.

Man, this was THE show right here!!! Everything about last night was just amazing. I took the #3 train from work to the Garden and the way the train was ZOOMING down Broadway in Manhattan, I just knew it was gonna be a great night and sure enough, I was right! Me and a few others went to this restaurant called "Stout" by the Garden and while we were there, they played the "Sign O The Times" movie on ALL the screens! That hyped me and my crew up!!!! Then I met up with my uncle who came to the show with me and he met a bunch of the Purple bunch and saw what the Purple World is like. lol When inside, I could hear Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and they were killing it. I wish I had seen the whole set but next time they are here, I'm going to see them, no doubt! Then we got to our seats, which were real good, Section 132, and my uncle and I had the time of our life!

Y'all know what the setlist is at this point but I tell you, to hear a bunch of song from after 1991 was the highlight for me and hearing Anotherloverholyinyohead live was amazing! And the beginning was with all of them songs he did a sample of, man, I was like a little girl up in there, and I'm a grown man!! lol lol This was the best show because of the more obscure songs and it was the longest show of the Welcome 2 America series. It was so good to see and meet people from the Org 6 and other people that I know from the Purple World. It just made the experience that much better! I'm at work right now just wishing that it was Feb 7th already! Prince is the man, PERIOD!!!!!! music headbang dancing jig

Please. Do you really think that playing samples or 10 seconds of several songs in a row, the dreaded medley, satisfies us "die-hards"? If anything, it makes me SMH even more. If you're not going to bother to play the damn song, why even bother! Just to tell people, "Remember? I did this song too!"? He's doing his own DAT intro now? Reminds me of the 2007 London shows.

The Twinz again? Yeah. I rest my case on that one. A lot of the same ol' celebrities dancing on stage again? Wow. Great. and, his band STILL sounds like a cover band doing Prince tunes, with no flair or style. They're definitely "capable players", but they're only a smidge better than the group with the Dunhams in it, and that's not saying much. No "sound". No personality or oomph.

"You dont know my music"...and from the sounds of it, you don't know or remember too much of it yourself, Prince. *Morris Day laugh*

Sounds like you weren't at the show to come up with that silliness. And don't speak for the diehards, speak for yourself. You ain't representing me with that foolishness. If you were there, you would have saw that the more snippets he played, the more excited the crowd got. Once it got to "Kiss", the crowd went bananas. Prince obviously remembered his music or else why would he do what he did with it? The band was on point, the twinz did there thing, it was HOT. But why justify this to you? Prince could give you, alexnvrmnd777 the show you've been waiting on for years and you'd still bitch and moan about it. lol Luckily, me and lots of other diehards are still excited about the show. It kicked lots and LOTS of ass and I'm very optimistic that Feb 7th will be more of the same! HA!

Then, you need to tell PurplePupil not to speak for die-hards (as you also just spoke for die hards yourself, so stow it!; lol), as I was addressing him/her! And, I never said I represented YOU (I never mentioned your name, so stop taking it so personal!!), so don't put words in my mouth.

And if the snippets got people in a lather, why would you NOT play the shit?! "Y'all ain't ready!" Yeah. Okay. And, I've heard THIS band, and while they're capable players (as I mentioned before), they're hardly anything special.

And you don't know me. You don't know what I would consider my ultimate Prince show, so don't say whether or not I'd be satisfied. You thought the show was great? Wonderful. Good for you. Glad you thought so. But some ppl around here would applaud him taking a shit in the middle of the stage, saying it was the best performance EVER. So, your excitement truly fails to sway me. Enjoy yourself on the 7th. confused

tunnel vision??? TUNNEL VISION????

Flopping penis and testicles in a pair of pants that show every detail minus bush is pretty damn hard to ignore.... He might as well have been pantless

seriously, prince climbs up on the piano with his ass facing us...and you can see his balls hanging from that back view, and you can see them jiggle when he moves.... then when he turns around you see the whole outline of his head and it's pointing outward because of his stance and jiggles with his movement....how the HELL do you NOT have tunnel vision? please if you know, let me in on the secret!

lol lol

As for the pics... sad I never take photos at shows. I'm sorry. It would have made a lovely photo though.

But I'm so pissed at myself. I was so excited to see him so closely and then I missed his face for half the show. He was standing just feet away from me and I was looking at his jiggly bits as he was saying let's hear it for sharon jones and the dap kings or maceo parker (I can't remember which but he was near the piano)... I screamed out, screw that, let's hear it for your insert obscene word here.

I don't know the section I was in since I was moved because my original seat was extremely obstructed.... it was right where the piano was. He was at the piano a lot so it was a great seat... plus the up close penis thing.

I'm a teacher too...what celebs DON'T understand is what it is like being in a classroom and the "school politics" that are involved. We don't know what it is like to live in their world and they have no clue what it is like in ours. When they make these comments, it is just speculation based on crap they hear. I met Bob Dylan and we talked about education. He had no clue either. I also talked to a politician in my state that is pretty high up about education and he had less of a clue than these guys....

lots of these peeps think they are authorities on teaching because they all went to school at one point in their lives... but really they have absolutely no idea of how things are run and the ins and outs of what's going on.

We all listen to music but that does not make us authorities on how to write, play or the music industry.... same thing to them but about education

so don't let it offend you... it's just pure ignorance on his part...really...

okay well tunnel vision is when your eyes direct you to look at one thing regardless of what ever else is around you

like going through a tunnel, you can go from point a to point b directly without interference

so prince's flopping penis caused me to ignore his face and just see the flopping penis... that is tunnel vision
so even though his lovely face was there, his penis caused me to directly look at that without interference... ALL THE TIME

let me start my review by saying thank u 2 those that posted links or shared information about sharon jones and the dap tones. THEY ROCKED!! i totally enjoyed their set and when sharon took off her heels and worked it out!! YOU GO GIRL!! u just made a new fan out of me of your music.

after their set and the roadies taking down their equipment, different parts of the stax concert was shown and when i saw the staple singers, i thought maybe prince might do when will be paid later in the show. as the incense around the stage was released, i figured it was just a matter of moments b4 prince hoped up on stage but damn 10 mins turned into 30. i got worrred it that prince wouldn't get onstage until 9pm and then the complaints about the msg curfew would be uttered. well dude get on stage earlier then!! lol

the lights went down and then it began..from the moment he uttered "don't u have enough pics!" and the open of WDC was played i stood right up!!! this is what his true fans have wanted even tho it was snippets it's just the acknowledgement that he has more music than the ones u always hear whether live or on radio. i would love 2 hear these songs fully of course instead of disco heat, lgc, and purple rain. maybe if he keeps reading he will lol

the show was simply amazing and the best of the whole run from europe to nyc for me. last night was the prince i haven't seen since 2002 imo!! glad 2 see u again friend don't be a stranger!!

highlights 4 me where anotherloverholenyohead, Shoe, eye love u but eye don't trust u anymore, dreamer, and 4 those that bitch about shelby singing ..SHE FUCKING SUNG HER ASS OFF as did ELISA AND LIVE DURING ANGEL!! bow it felt like church up in there!! when prince started going into insatiable and scandalous that man did it!!

still hoping that he will pull out the love we make soon!!

I loved his opening Medley. I was surprised he would even do anything with these songs so to have even a taste was satisfying enough for me. He did quite a bit of 'Black Sweat' too. Nice to see him acknowledge his other hits even if only for a few seconds. It also seemed like he shortened Purple Rain and Raspberry Beret to me to make way for waaaayyy better songs. No 1999 on this show either. That's another reason it was the best soo far...not as predictable as the previous shows because I was totally expecting that 12 minute version of PR and 1999 at any minute...thank Jebus one was shortened and the other was absent.

He worked the whole stage this time which surprised me because I don't remember him doing the head of the Symbol very much on the last two shows but it was nice that those sitting behind the drums got to see him more this time around. I wish I could go to the 7th with you guys but it's not gonna happen and I'm not extremely disappointed about it considering that I just remembered that he'll be doing that Charity event in Dallas the day before and then having to fly back to NYC for the show. If he's doing a show on the 8th also, I don't know if I want to go to that one either. I think that's one of the main reasons why the 12/18 show was so disappointing. Back to Back shows like that seem to wear him out a little but that's just from my perspective. Have fun 4 me and someone better let me know if he plays anything out of the usual...got my own personal concert stored on my computer so I'm good.

The 12/18 show was actually the worst to me...very disappointed. disbelief I came on here and made sure I bitched about it because it was totally not worth the hype and money I spent which is sad coming from me because I've loved this man since I was 9 years old (will be turning 30 this Friday 1/21). I was expecting soo much more because I KNOW he's capable of more than he did on that show. Then, I went to the 29th and it was way better than the 12/18 show but still needed a little more of a punch to get me. This show hit me like a Mack Truck. Was not expecting it to be any better than the last show but it was 10 times better and was extremely surprised with this great setlist. Either he's reading these threads or someone in his camp is and is reporting back to him. He showed respect for the fair-weather fans and the die-hards with this show. Everybody got what they wanted and left wanting more which is what makes a Prince concert soo magical and memorable. People in our section booed when the lights came on at the end...they weren't ready for the party to end yet and I don't think Prince was ready either. Honestly, I thought the Intro Medley was perfect just the way it was. I would still love to hear 'Dance 4 Me' and 'Sticky Like Glue' at some point but this setlist was fantastic. Personally, give me 'I Would Die 4 U' over WDC anyday of the week...that's still my all time favorite song from the PR album. Prince is the new King. cool

That is the thing now....when you see what he can be capable of it is hard not to go again....yet I can imagine it (2/7) wlll be compared to the 1/18...He better gets lots of rest:)

Sorry for spelling error tha point I was trying to make is alot of his diehards were complaining about his 29th show being tailored for the radio/Biggest hit fans. And judging by tha response from tha diehards after this show. Prince obviously has been looking and taking notes from this site b/c tha same diehards that were complaining loved all of his adjustments that is not a coincidence.

Look at dec 29 responses if you can and you will see my pov

The 12/18 show was actually the worst to me...very disappointed. disbelief I came on here and made sure I bitched about it because it was totally not worth the hype and money I spent which is sad coming from me because I've loved this man since I was 9 years old (will be turning 30 this Friday 1/21). I was expecting soo much more because I KNOW he's capable of more than he did on that show. Then, I went to the 29th and it was way better than the 12/18 show but still needed a little more of a punch to get me. This show hit me like a Mack Truck. If I was somehow able to go on the 7th, I would buy the cheapest ticket possible out of fear that this show might be like the 12/18 show because of the reason I mentioned above. I never want to relive that show ever again...it was that disappointing to me. Best part about that concert experience was the pre-show meet up where I got to meet some amazing people who are now like my family and the great house party we crashed after the show. giggle The before and after experiences are what truly saved that night for me.

one more observation- not one song being played from Emancipation at all on this tour. I'm very surprised by that. I think Somebody's Somebody would work well as a segue into another song, even if he only did one verse. and Face Down would just kill- i think i would like to hear that in place of where "let's work" is done in the middle medley.
