I'm also from New Zealand (Auckland) and I can only imagine the mission you went through to get to NYC, but judging by your review .. it definitely was worth every single second.

I'm so jealous, what an amazing experience! cool

The whole time we spent in New York, we didn’t meet one person who would not go out of their way to try and help us if they thought we were lost. Everybody would speak to us, and the whole place felt like one big family

Wow, great report! I liked the part of your post where you expressed that many New Yorkers did not hesitate to help you with directions. That goes to show that many New Yorkers are not the snobs , unfriendly or people with bad attitudes, as some often say we are. lol

This is a city where many of the people here are used to seeing hundreds/thousands of tourists each year, and it's not unusual that many tourists would stop and ask for directions, and people will try to help. I think it's great that you took the chance to come over to a different country so different from your own for the first time. I have a niece whose going to Paris for the first time next month, and this will be her first time out of America, although she's travelled to non-American Caribbean islands, so she will probably feel just like how you and your sister felt, when you visited America. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing your experience, it is such a good read.biggrin

That sounds like a great experience for your niece Elijah...fortunately it made it easier for us that it was still an English speaking country smile

Thanks for the responses!
