MADISON SQURE GARDEN TO GET ONE MORE NITE!!

Hey Everyone............

Word that I got is that PRINCE will add one more evening at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN at the very least. Right now PROMOTERS and PRINCE are waiting for the three shows at the IZOD CENTER out in NEW JERSEY to be a SOLD OUT STAY or close to it. There are still seats available for all three shows where as the TWO PERFORMANCES SAT DEC 18th and WED DEC 29th at MSG are a COMPLETLEY SOLD OUT!!

STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS!!

P.S......The other news I just got is that the album, " 20TEN DELUXE," will be released at the SHOWS here in NYC which will feature bonus tracks and extended versions of some great songs like LAY IT DOWN with an explosive eight minute version to close out the cd. RICH FRIENDS will be included as well. ALSO MICHAEL JACKSONS new album entitled," MICHAEL," will be released on TUESDAY DECEMBER 14th hence the FIRST NITE OF THE PRINCE TOUR here in AMERICA!! LOL!!

Interesting. The only dates where I don't see any other event/concert happening at the Garden, is the 20th, 21st and 28th. So if this "rumor" is true, maybe it will be one of those three dates or sometime in January.shrug

See, now Americans are getting their own version of 20ten, and maybe an even better one than we got here in Europe this summer! So all the complaints were premature! Prince had something in mind for the US all along!!! Hopefully everyone will be happy with this now! wink

So that would explain the Prince symbol on the cover of the new MJ album.

Cause and effect is enough to predict that Prince will play more shows at MSG. You won't find any official discussion though unless the NJ shows fill up, which has yet to happen. It looks they announced maybe one too many in NJ and one too few at MSG. None of the NJ shows are close to being sold out and they're 5 weeks away. That's actually good for fans though beause tickets will be plentiful and cheap. I wouldn't hold my breath for more MSG shows, but you never know.

There's still seats in section 121 on 12/17 at IZOD. I'm surprised they're still available. It's amazing how MSG sold out basically before the end of the day tix went on sale to the general public.

The IZOD CENTER shows will have the 20TEN DELUXE cd too.

New UPDATE......In order for the extra show to go on sale at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, PRINCE and the PROMOTERS again are eagerly awaiting the sell out of the three performances at the IZOD CENTER first. I am being told they must fill up first for any additional shows in our areas. Also if they do not sell out these three dates expect ticket prices to be lowered as we get closer to the events.

MSG right now is a SELL OUT! Without a doubt I knew that was going to happen. PRINCE IN NYC is like PRINCE IN MPLS!! THE MAN PLAYS A SHOW....and the NYC FANS COME RUNNING!!

Had PRINCE added originally more shows in NYC and less out in NEW JERSEY the shows would have SOLD OUT for sure for many reasons.....for one MSG is a more convient venue to get to with mass transit right at your finger tips. ONE will spent $50.00 approx to get to the IZOD CENTER between the two TOLL BRIDGES, GAS, the $20.00 PARKING FEE, and the NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE....yes indeed it is very expensive just to get to the performance and you have not even walked in the arena as of yet. The main reason too is that LIVE NATION is charging way too much money to see PRINCE on this very tour and the ticket prices have gotten way out of hand in an economy that is far from being repaired. If the ticket prices drop for the remaining seats that have not been sold......the people will come.

If these shows do not sell out you can bet that next time PRINCE comes to the NJ/NYC AREA expect more shows in NYC and less in NJ.

Did you ever think that the NJ shows are on weeknights... even the Friday night show is inconvenient when you're trying to rush home from work.

The MSG shows are on a Saturday night and over the holiday week.

Don't EVER assume that New Jersey Prince fans don't come out for him. WE usually have to travel to NYC and/or Philly to get to shows.

I've seen him 26 times, and only FOUR of them were in New Jersey... and one was all the way down in Atlantic City.

All this speculation... and STILL no link or source. lol

I don't think we know how many seats are left, but when you do a search for 8 tickets and it comes back with 8 together in the lower level sections...I would say there are a lot still open. It amazes me that the MSG shows sold out and the IZOD shows still haven't, considering their proximity to each other. If this is any indicator, the prospect of a full tour of the US seems bleak.

That is a valid point, coupled with the convenience of MSG for people coming from outside NY.

People from out of town are more likley to be lodging in Manhattan.

Enjoy the shows. headbang

It's hard to say how many seats are left, but you can get a pretty good idea if you pull up tickets. You can also see how fast they're selling if you check back often. Last I checked, the Friday show at IZOD had all price levels available except the cheapest and the most expensive. I'm using the Friday show as an example because you would expect it to fill up first vs the Tue/Wed shows.

People might be waiting to see if more shows are announced at MSG before they go to Plan B. If no announcement comes there could be a run on ticket sales for IZOD come December. It's hard to say though. Tickets for these shows are expensive except for the $25 obstructed view seats, and there's a lot more of them because the shows are in the round.

I don't expect this to affect the rest of the tour. I think they might have just been a little ambitious with 3 dates at IZOD on weeknights. It's best to start small and only announce maybe 1 or 2 shows at a time. Wait until those fill up before announcing more dates. That's what happened with the Roger Waters tour. He started out with 1-2 shows in the major cities and ended announcing 3-6 shows after the first dates sold out quickly. That tour almost doubled in size from the original list of dates.

That's what he did for the Musicology tour if we remember, he added one show at a time and ended up selling out I think three shows at the Garden, a couple in NJ and one in Long Island and three in Philly. That's a lot, however, he was coming off a lot of exposure with the HOF induction and is killer performance there along with the Killer Grammy performance and the number one (if only because if his distributing process) Musicology CD, videos for the singles, etc., plus the tickets were a lot less!

This time he is really only going on his name, no new album to speak of, no videos, no high exposure, etc.

I just looked at ticketmaster for the 14th and you can still get 8 seats in section 3 on the floor all together. That's not a good sign at this point as there are still all the tickets out on Stubhub too!!!!!!

lol Are you kidding me? Many New Yorkers do have cars. Have you ever seen what traffic is like in Manhattan on any given day or driving on the Long Island Expressway towards Manhattan? That's the problem, too many cars on the road, that's why most people who work in Manhattan, leave their cars at home because of all the congested traffic with the yellow cabs, local buses, livery cabs, limos, expresses buses from Bronx, Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn, and the ones coming in from Long Island and Westchester tying up traffic on the main streets. Not to mention it's expensive as hell to park in Manhattan.

Prince is playing in Jersey and NYC, at the peak of the holiday season, so expect traffic to be crazy, because the Jersey shows are basically about 1 week before Christmas. Anyone who lives in NYC and going to the Jersey shows, should consider taking mass transit or if driving in, leave home/work early. to avoid getting caught up with holiday shopping traffic and stuck in line, waiting in traffic to get through the Holland Tunnel to get to Jersey.

For the Dec. 18th and 29th shows, those coming from Jersey should consider doing the same, because there will be a lot of tourists/Xmas shoppers/New Years' tourists/traffic in Manhattan as well during the late part of December. I'll already be in Manhattan on the 29th, so all I have to do is jump on the E train and take it straight to 34th street/Penn station. A less than 20 minute ride from the Upper East side, once I'm at my point of departure.

It's right next door. Here in NY, many artist play in big areana nearby. This might be because of distance but they all get filled up, even though I'm surprised the IZOD still isn't sold out.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I'll explain a couple things:

- I live in Manhattan. It costs $450/month to park a car in the garage of my apartment building. If you then drive somewhere some day (within manhattan) it costs $30 to park it. That's why nobody has a car. With taxis and subway you can usually get anywhere you want

- IZOD is much cheaper to rent than Madison Square garden. Different costs and probably different union rules and prices. So livenation would make more from a sold out show in Jersey than at Madison Square Garden, except that ticket prices at MSG will be higher.

- Even though IZOD and MSG are close from a "if you have a car" standpoint, it is still a pain to get from Manhattan (or brooklyn or queens, etc.) to IZOD. You have to go through a bridge or a tunnel, and it is a pain (and costly to park once you get there). So it's really not that "close" from a convenience/cost standpoint.

- If you don't have a car, it takes 2 hours to get there from Manhattan (more from Brooklyn, etc.). I went to the springsteen show and it took me that long to get there, that long to get back. It's just a pain, relative to a 20 minute subway/walk to Madison Square Garden. In my case, and many others - I just say "forget it, it's not worth it".

nod Yes, that's why most folks leave their cars home in the other boroughs and don't drive into Manhattan. Some do because they don't want to deal with the subways, but they still have to deal with traffic headaches. Parking anywhere in Manhattan is very expensive on a daily basis. However, I agree, once you're in Manhattan, there's plenty of taxis, local bus service, trains(subway) to take you to your destination in a short period of time. Plus out-of-towners, staying in hotels in Manhattan, won't have any real problems getting to MSG. There is parking garage down the block from MSG,(Edison parking) that one can park at before going to the show.. It's not too costly. I remember the friends I went to the musicology show with, parked at Edison parking garage, and drove back to Queens after the show was over.

Even though some say the IZOD is not far from Manhattan, you just have to leave NYC early to try and avoid traffic delays, and you should have no problem. I don't know how it is during the weekday with buses coming out of the Port Authority to take you to the IZOD, but I guess you just have to try and catch a bus at least before rush hour from Manhattan into Jersey starts. Probably best to get on a bus no later than 4pm or 4:30pm leaving the Port Authority.

. . . . . . that is unless one has one of those nice parking permits like I do!!!!!!!!

nod Yes, that's why most folks leave their cars home in the other boroughs and don't drive into Manhattan. I remember the friends I went to the musicology show with, parked at Edison parking garage, and drove back to Queens after the show was over.

lol Lucky you.
