12-15-10 Concert Prince last night...AMAZING!!!! He opened the show with a blistering performance of "Laydown" from 20Ten. The next track featured the girls cover of Sara McLachlan's "In The Arms of an Angel" & Shelby literally owns this song now as this was clearly a tribute to her late father who recently passed away. "The Hits" were then back out in full-force at that point, but we as die-hards can complain(including me)all we want they sounded brillant. A lot of "The Hits" were omitted with them bein:"Let's Go Crazy" "1999" "Baby I'm a Star" most notably. Prince's all-gold Fender Strat sounded excellent as I went to the show thinking that it wouldn't as i've never seen him play through 3-single pickups before, but in any event this guitar sounded awesome. Atendance was very light & upper-sections were curtained off & those who brought tickets in those sections were simply re-located to better upper-levels seats! Esperanza Spalding & her band were a very, very nice addition as they opened for Prince last night. Lalah Hathaway was the 2nd act to take the stage & she is very talented & has a very good voice. Her highlight was a cover of "Forever, For Always, For Love" by "Luther Vandross" and although she did introduce her band, her drummer & guitar are F'ING AMAZING!!!!! Thank You everybody for last night's show it was STUNNING..... |

You are going to all the W2A concerts, right?
Be interesting to hear your take on how they compare to each other.

it's nice that you got there early, made the effort to support the 'opening acts'... 2 fantastic artists!
i'm glad they were able to show off & perform with prince a bit later to a full crowd.
