If U want a hotel, pick 1 near the trainstation. A special bus there will pick

u up and bring u 2 the Gelredome (and back). There's also parkingspace

near the hotels (Stationsplein or Willemsplein) and there R plenty restaurants

nearby.

Okay... there's a parking spot at Gelredome where you can park, but after the show it's not so easy to leave that.

On the other side of the highway A325 you can park your car at the Rijnhal (venue) and walk to Gelredome (about 500-800 meters, there's a tunnel). This is the best parkingplace if you are heading in the direction of Germany.

If you are coming from the south (highway A15) you can park you car at the transefrium in Elst (Rijkerswoerd) and you will be transported to the venue by bus.

Coming from Utrecht (highway A12) you follow signs Burgers Zoo and park at the transferium there and you will be transported to the venue by bus.

If you have a hotel in Arnhem (or will visit Arnhem before the show), park your car at the trainstation and use the special busses heading to Gelredome. They leave in fron of the trainstation. Ticket costs 4 euro or something like that.

Remark: a long stay at the parking near the trainstation is more expensive than at the other parking places.

There are signs placed to direct you to the transferium.

Coming by train: use the special busses heading to Gelredome. They leave in fron of the station.

In Elst en Duiven there are hotels with a special 'concert option'.

Parking at Burgers Zoo seems like taking a lot of time, you'll have to be transported all thru Arnhem to reach the stadium. Do you know of costs coming with this option?

Last time I did that it was quite fast (15 min max with direct busses not stopping anywhere) and free of charge.

I see the gelredome site is updated with info about transport. In dutch only i'm afraid. Shuttles from the Zoo are free indeed.

The Gelredome is notoriously difficult to reach (or get away from !) by car from ANY highway since it's only connected through very busy 2-lane roads.. Best bet would be to use the parking at the zoo since that's almost next to the highway to Utrecht... then again, if there's an aftershow in Nijmegen, you're f***ed.......

No you're not: A-12 direction Utrecht - A-50 direct Rotterdam and follow 'Nijmegen'. If the aftershow is at The Matrixx than that's a better solution, otherwise you have to go through the heart of Nijmegen (A325 - direction Nijmegen)

All i can find is that on some events locker service is provided. Don't know if that's a standard service. There seems to be no wardrobe.

Hi everybody.

Hope everyone is looking forward 2 a funky time in Arnhem on Thursday!

I will be coming with a friend from London and we are staying in Amsterdam (with hope of an aftershow there!).

I was wondering if anyone knew what the best way to get back to Amsterdam (quickly) is after the main show?

Is it easy to get the train back to the city from Gelredome/Arnhem?

Any information would be great - i dont want to be stranded at the Gelredome all night lol

Journey schedule:

You can plan your journey by any public transportation ahead, the site is in English

http://journeyplanner.9292.nl/

if you have an Iphone, this app is really usefull

http://www.journeyplanner.9292.nl/1257/iPhone_application_9292ov_Pro/

(also apps for Samsung Galaxy is available if you search for it)

Public Transport card:

You can travel by bus/tram/subway and train with one plastic card; the ov-chipkaart.

You can purchase an anonymous card at the train desk (look for theNS sign) at Schiphol. The NS desk is near the entry towards the train platform in the main hallway.

With that card you can travel by train from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central station (or other station if closer to your hotel) and travel by train to Arnhem back and forth.

A train ticket Schiphol-Amsterdam Central Station is 3,30 and a retour ticket Amsterdam-Arnhem is around 30 euros.

So, make sure that you have at least 40 euros on your card when you purchase it at Schiphol. Than you can travel around without having to worry about tickets.

Just make sure you flash your card before the designated pole before you get in the train and flash your card again when you leave the station.

Check websites below for information:

http://www.ov-chipkaart.nl/allesoverdeov-chipkaart/

http://www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers/arrange-buy/purchasing-tickets?packedargs=language%3Den

Taxis

I'm very sorry to say that taxi drivers in Amsterdam are not the most reliable persons on earth. That's why we all rather travel by bike wink

Really, taxi's are nuisance in Amsterdam, as a tourist you have an elevated change of getting ripped off. If you need to travel from Amsterdam Central Station to your hotel, I do advise you to go by public transport. There are enough people you can ask for help and generally Dutchies are keen on helping (accept for the taxi drivers!)

When you by any mistake miss the last train back to Amsterdam, check if you can have a ride with someone back to Amsterdam before calling a cab!

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Don't travel with the OV chipcard!

Especially for your return to the airport: to be able to board te train you have t have a credit of 20 euro's. At Schiphol the difference between the fare (3,55) and the 20 euro will be returned to your card. There is no way to get that 16.45 euro back in to your wallet!

Instead, you can also by paper traintickets. they cost the same, won't ripp you off at the last ride.

In Amsterdam the chipcard is needed for tram/bus/metro, but maybe you can walk? depending on where your hotel is. In amsterdam a card can be bought thjat gives you access to all public transport for a certain period of time, see http://www.gvb.nl/english...fares.aspx.
