The tickets are sold thru Ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster and LiveNation are partners

- LiveNation promotes concerts, Ticketmaster sells the tickets to the concerts.

That's why even if you go to the LiveNation website (I included link in first post of this thread), it still takes you to Ticketmaster's website when you choose what day you want for tickets.

There will likely be a box that says:

Live Nation Presale code or Presale Code

LiveNation says their code is lights (and that it works for all 5 shows; NJ and NY)

Madison Sq Garden says their code is Guitar (and is only for the 2 NY shows)

The sections with the "100" numbers I see were also going for the $200 price. I'm surprised, they were much lower for the Musicology shows.

I got front row seats for the Musicology shows at MSG and they cost me less than $100 each. Those days and prices are long gone.

yes they were one night alone was cheep too

you go here

http://www.ticketmaster.c...ist/735895

you choose a date (3 are in NJ, 2 are in NY; be sure to choose the correct state and date you want)

on the next page, you choose:

1) how many tickets you want (max for presale is 4 tickets per person)

2) how much you're willing to pay (4-5 different ticket price levels)

next to those, you enter in the box the presale code

and below that, choose the Section (Best Available, Floor, Lower Level, or Upper Level)

Click the orange Find Tickets button

--- to make sure you are human, the system will do a Security Check and ask you to enter a CAPTCHA code; it'll show you a picture of one or two words, you have to type them in and click the Continue button in order to proceed.

Then the system searches available tickets for you, and when done (if any presale tickets are left) it will let you know where seats are still available.

If you want them, you buy them.

If you dont like the seats and other seats are still available, you can start the search again.

biggrin

actually, our parents wouldn't let us "camp out" the nite before, so my mom drove my friends & I in the minivan to Manhattan @ like 5 am the morning of.. LOL... we ended up in the nosebleed seats, but got to see him live for the first time.. wink lol

This actually wasn't the case. I chose a price level and a seating area, and then Ticketmaster spent the next 5-10 minutes making me go insane by "waiting in line."

After 3 unsuccesful attempts, starting from 10am and lasting til about 10:25am, I chose "any price" and "any section" and got section 108. Before that, I had chosen the $200 tickets and the floor and got nothing. In the end, the section 108 seats were also $200, but Ticketmaster doesn't say "try these instead" when it comes up empty handed. Instead, you have to do the search all over again.

SO

I highly recommend anybody buying tickets tomorrow to do the same. Choose "any price" and "any section."

but, you asked: "Do you think we'll be able to choose what section we want, or will we only choose a price and then be randomly given a certain ticket?"

You are able to choose what section you want, but choosing the price is not the only way to get tickets..

With Ticketmaster, you're SOL (shit outta luck) if you don't log in to your ticketmaster account on time [early..], or are on a slow connection, or the section you wanted magically sells out in 4.2 seconds..... Unfortunately, that's just how it goes when buying concert tickets online, especially for someone on Prince's level..

--- that's part of why they've been so lovingly referred to as TicketBastard for almost a decade.. lol wink

a hint: If you want in (and fast) for a presale, do it at work [if they allow it... don't go gettin' fired over Prince] on your job's T-1 or faster internet connection wink ~ trying to get presale tix on a typical home internet connection will not go well for acts like Prince (not fast enough)...

and pray Ticketmaster has enough servers to handle everybody lol (when Madonna's tix for her tour in 2001 went on sale, so many ppl logged in for it, the Ticketmaster site crashed... lol )

With Ticketmaster, you have to choose

the number of tickets, plus:

- the price you want to pay, and/or

- what general section you want to be in

If they have seats in the exact parameters/combination you chose, they'll give you the best seats available for the number of seats you wanted** - and give you 2-3 minutes to decide if you want them.

** Say you need to get 4 tickets -- blocks of 3 or more seats together in a row closest to the stage sell quickly, but you might still get really great seats if you buy two sets of 2 or all 4 tickets individually -- no, not ideal, but you'll have to decide: what's more important: better/closer view, or everyone sitting together?

-- just don't do it alone; you buy one or one pair of tix, and have a friend/friends buy the others on their own computer at the same time you get yours.. that way you all can try to end up near each other. Go over the venue's floorplan together so you each know what section each buyer should shoot for smile

If you're very concerned about them selling out quickly, take the first set they give you..

If you feel like there may be time to play around, or really, really don't like the seats offered and think you can get something better, start over.

~ I have ended up with better seats than the first choice they gave me, even using the very same combination of choices, just by trying again.. People sometimes toss back the first ticket selection they're given, hoping for something better the next try...

Good luck, everybody biggrin

This is especially true with venues "in the round" as the computer might think the best seats are not those closest to the stage, but those that are up a bit to give you the best overall view.

Also, just to add, while you're purchasing the tickets, you get an opportunity to click on the seating before deciding to purchase tickets. You can also print out a copy before purchasing, and enlarge it, so you can glance at the seating chart before purchasing.
