I was at Nokia Theater and Conga Room. At Conga Room we just couldn't believe the songs he was playing. A lot of us were freaking out to the point where some people were just giving weird looks (I think some people thought that some of these rarities were just covers because they didn't recognize the songs).

It took awhile for me to even recognize "I'm Yours" as it was so unexpected. For "I Like it There", as soon as P ended his story about the D&P tour, someone in the crowd shouted "I Like it There"! P asks "Oh, is that what you want to hear?" before launching into the song. That show was short but totally amazing.

Also, Prince said something cool at Nokia that I haven't seen anyone mention...something like: "Today someone said to me 'music is just something you do'. I said no, 'I am music'. I never want to give this up."

If he tours, don't miss it. He's in rare form right now.

Those looks were from the blissful eargasms taking place. Or maybe it was just me... As one of the taller dudes there, I'm sure he saw the looks on my face, lol.

Great set lists. The man came through!

If full soundboard recordings of shows like that are made available on LF.com, that would make the $77 fee fully worth it IMO.

Great setlists! I love how Prince said...okay lets get the hits out of the way on the first show..and just got down to real business the last two shows! He called BULLSHIT on me since I've been complaining that he does nothing but covers these days. Glad to see he's doing obscure stuff AND even rare outtakes!!

Alright, from the reports and Prince blowing a gasket about the sound, I'm leary to hear what the sound is like with the shows if a soundboard or even an audience recording would to come out. Can anyone elaborate on what EXACTLY the sound problems were? Too loud? Certain instruments not being heard? Distortion, static or mic noises?

And LA ppl, wakey wakey...talk about how the outtakes and rare stuff sounded like!!

My cousin and I were right next to the entry to the pit on the left hand side. It was madness. Either way you could see him clearly from that whole area where the soundboard was.

Did you die when Chaka came out? I almost lost it when he sang Large Room.

We saw Natalie Cole leave through the VIP exit when we left the concert. That would've been cool if she would've brought her out. I assumed she was backstage or something.

Can anyone expound on "In a Large Room With No Lights" a little more. How much did it sound like the recorded version? Who sang the la, la,las? Did the crowd sing along? Did Prince notice the crowd reaction to the song?
Damn I hope he plays it more in the future.

Would have been cool if he invited Wendy and Lisa back for that song.
[Edited 3/29/09 12:05pm]

It was merengue/jazz style which seemed to fit, especially the style of this third performance. Prince did the 'la la la' parts. Barely anybody knew this song. I was was high giving some friends but they didn't know what this song was. I was singing, dying inside and trying to explain all the while trying to take in the significance of what he was singing right there right then.

MUTHAFCKR!!!!! NO LIGHT IN A LARGE ROOM>... See this is why you keep holding on for this guy.. He simply is capable at anytime live of kicking your ass and every musicians ass in a 10 block radius.... I would pay $200 to see him play that one song. and figures most of the crowd had no idea. IT FNG KILLS ME!!!!

Hey Miguel!!! It's one of the ladies from the line! wave

It was so cool to look over and see someone else who knew "In A Large Room. . ." I never imagined hearing him perform that one live! That whole show was just classic for me. It was a true fan's treat. It would have been great to be in the pit at that show, but I still had an AMAZING night at all shows. I really like that Club Nokia had screens all around the venue, so whenever someone's head blocked me or I wanted a closeup, I just looked at the screens.

The whole night was fantastic despite the sound problems. Prince and his amazingly talented arsenal of musicians served up a full meal. The Nokia Theatre was the appetizer, Conga Room was the entree (that set was unbelievable - I'm Yours had me hysterical!) and Club Nokia was dessert. I went back to my hotel room completely satiated. It was worth every penny my sister and I spent flying in from Chicago.

This is one of my favorite Prince songs, but I never mention it to casual fans when they ask my favorites because I know they don't have a clue. Anyway, when he kicked it off with that, I had a momentary pause of utter disbelief. I NEVER EVER thought I would hear that one live.

His guitar playing at the Conga Room show was so unbelievably outrageous. How is it possible for him to continue to get better? I also think that Ron Wood being in the house made P kick it up another level. He was killing it. Did anyone check his new move - the one-handed playing while holding the other hand straight up and motioning. eek lol It was just too much!

I am still having flashbacks from that show. Michael B and Sonny T were awesome. Sonny is a general on the bass and Michael B is power personified. I was having visions of the Band of Gypsies while watching the show. I could have listened to those three together all night. Btw, Colonized Mind and Dreamer sounded great live!

On another note: Does anyone know if they lady who passed out is ok? That was the only weird thing that happend. Some woman just hit the floor in front of me. What's crazy is that I was so into the show that I did not even see her fall. Then I looked down and her head was at my feet and she was down there. She got up and said she was ok, so I hope she is alright.

Stunning!

The biggest surprises for me were, in order from biggest going down:
A Large Room With No Light

Journey To The Center Of Your Heart

    I'm Yours

The Sun, The Moon And Stars

    Dreaming Of U i(no vocals)

    I Love U But I Don’t Trust U Anymore

Under The Cherry Moon (no vocals)

    When The Lights Go Down

    I Like it There

This is the most surprising setlist I think I've ever seen - way beyond even the Celebration gigs. It's great to see Prince bringing out rarer gems and embracing more of his catalogue. There are so many great songs so rarely given attention and many such songs would surely benefit from Prince's live touch.

The biggest wow's are the unreleased songs. Prince obviously has one audience very clearly in mind with those songs: the fans! I wonder if these songs are a hint of future release, what with the LotusFlow3r's web guy saying that 10 CD's-worth of unreleased tracks have been assembled. This could be what we have been begging for for years. This is very exciting.

Can you please advise what albums the songs below are on? Also, I really want to hear "A Large Room with No Light". What is the best way to get a copy of the song? There was one song at Club Nokia that was just amazing. I believe it was the forth song. I'm not sure if this was "A Large Room with No Light". I'm dying to find out more information about this song. Any help is appreciated.
