Prince gave me his guitar Hey everyone, not sure if you saw last night's "Tonight Show" performance (shame on you if you didn't) but I am the guy Prince handed his guitar to.
I happen to work for TMZ (don't hate me) and I wrote about it for the site. Check it out here.

Cool! You were lucky, even if it turned out he was not giving it to you. Anyone who gets to be the keeper of Prince's guitar is a special person!

That guitar is probably worth more than you what you make in a whole year dude Just be happy you got to touch it AFTER it was played the hell out of. "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

"Prince Indian Gives Guitar ..."
First things first, that is racist. Anyways. You aren't owed a guitar. Prince has done this so many times and if he let people keep it each time, he'd be a little short (I thank you).

I happen to work for TMZ (don't hate me) and I wrote about it for the site. Check it out here. He gave me his Telecaster 4 years ago during a Tamar gig in DC. It was amazing...but it wears off. Just breath deeply and try not to talk too much. We will try to ignore how little respect we have for TMZ or how uncool you looked while holding it. [Edited 3/27/09 9:47am]

WoW! My wife asked me if Prince gave the guitar to you, and, at the close of the show when his tech took it back, I said nope!
Lucky you!!!!! | |

that´s cool! Lucky you. I just read your other concert review from 2006. It shows that you are indeed not just a lucky guy but also a true Prince-fan, so I think you deserved that moment that luckily was captured on film. That´s one of the greatest gifts any Prince-fan could ask for (it kind of makes you part of Prince history), so I dont think Prince owes you the guitar. See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

Cool story. I'm sorta embarrassed that I find TMZ a kind of guilty pleasure.
Of course you were not going to get to keep a multi-thousand dollar, custom hardware guitar, which seems to be Prince's favorite at the the moment. That said, you should ran like a muthafucka for the nearest exit with that thing. Off topic... what the hell is Harvey Levin always sippin' on during the show? Gin and tonic? Sunny-D? Crystal Light? Liquified stem-cells? I gotta know. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Congrats and all, but...
Prince let you "hold" his guitar. Almost every performance he tosses his guitar up in the hair and Takumi (I think that is his guitar techs name) catches it. Does that mean, he gets to keep it?? Probably not. That was cool either way, added to the excitement on the show. Blue

I happen to work for TMZ (don't hate me) and I wrote about it for the site. Check it out here. I did see that on tv last night, and you looked like you were in awe and didn't know what to do . Handing his guitar to fans is part of a ritual Prince does during his performances. He passes and hands his guitar for fans to hold or touch, and his tech guys always retrieves it from the fans, because you're suppose to give it back, not keep it,as most Prince fans are aware of that. .or didn't you know that? Funny story that you're basically calling him an "indian giver" as implied in your headline. You may have offended some folks with that term though, so you may want to remove that implied term from the headline of your article before TMZ gets a ton of emails from people who may be offended by it. [Edited 3/27/09 18:43pm]

Firstly, The term 'Indian giver' is extremely racist and offensive. I'd consider changing your headline
Secondly, and on a more positive note - That incident was a great T.V. moment. Your reaction was priceless and it was caught brilliantly by the camera man. It looked like you were holding the truth to all the worlds mysteries in your palms! Particularly enjoyed the part where you held the guitar above your head to the crowd. Punctuated by the music, It felt like an event.. a piece of Prince musical history. Lucky you!
