Will You Go To The Rescheduled Show

I think i'm over the pain of the cancelation, and am ready to move on.

But, just wondering.

Will all you Dubs and the people from all over the world who got stood up go to the apparent Rescheduled Show in 09, or will you snub it.

I got two words for ya, i'm in. biggrin

'rescheduled, my arse' !!!!! who knows what P will be up to next year....ticket prices were way too high anyway....a lot of casual fans would have been put off...and the fact it was Monday night also..people would have to make their way home and then to concert in mad Dublin traffic....things would have been very different if it was on a weekend night...ireland is known for being a rip-off...everything is overpriced, esp. concert tickets sad

My feeling right now is that I wouldn't be pushed about attending a rescheduled show.
Not without a handwritten guarantee anyhow!

I think it is wrong to set people's expectations there will be a rescheduled show in 2009. Tickets are being refunded friday and some is left to pay the massive costs incurred ( down payment on croke park + tons of advertising = Big Bill ).

There were 3 promoters in Ireland, Oliver Barry brought Prince to Cork in 1990, one show cancelled huge debts, not going to engage again.

Aiken brought D&P tour, 12K tickets unsold.

That leaves MCD who are truly burnt from this experience so I truly believe Ireland is a Prince free zone going forward. Bye Prince !

I don't think the show will be rescheduled, its just there way of trying to make something positive out of something negative.

I can see him playing thenew refurbished Point in 2009. It will hold 16,000 which is a realistic amount of people. So I foresee 2 nights in the Pint 2009. And yes I will be there for the 2 of them.

So I guess I am over this mornings shinnanigans. lol lol lol

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking and as annoyed and upset and angry as I am right now - you can bet I'll be there shakin my booty when he comes back. We went back to the 02 after he cancelled our aftershow. We felt it was the only way to get over it and it ws the best thing. I am really pissed off now but my anger is only so bad coz I love him so much and love is a constant - that ain't gonna change wink

I don't think P has singled out Dublin for any special treatment just take it on the chin that these things happen in show BUSINESS! don't take it personal wink

If he does reschedule, and thats a big if!!! he will find it hard to sell a lot of tickets due to this weeks fiasco, people will be put off spending money on tickets, flights etc incase they are stung and left out of pocket again. I believe that Prince wont do another UK/Ireland gig for a few years now.
AND ON THE 7TH DAY OF THE 6TH MONTH..GOD CREATED FUNK!!!

Think so too... I, for one, would think twice before booking flights and a hotel again!

I agree,we may not see him for few years, maybe he'll give us a break and try this s*** on Asia or elsewhere. and even when the point re-opens with 16000 capacity there is no way he will sell tickets again, not in the next 2 years anyway - too many pissed off people

Yeah I would go if it were on a weekend, or during my holidays. I like Dublin and it is only an hour away from me (I live 10 mins from an airport that flies there several times a day). So I'd be willing to risk it.

Xemplify

I am in completely 2 minds...

I have been a fan since the age of 8 and I am now 32, the music has been a major part of my life and i have turned to it in varying times.

Of late it has been very up and down and he has done things that really makes you wonder.

One one hand I have taken the time out of my life to book flights, hotels, tickets and made my partner who is 6 months pregnant take time off work and also to go to the doctors to get a fit to fly letter, all of this effort and it feels it is all in vain and nobody cares what effort people go to. And to now have the show cancelled makes me really upset, hurt and angry and makes me want to wash my hands to this grasp that this man and his music has over me just all of all the crap that surrounds this man is to much right now.

But on the other is the music and the joy it brings. And can I let that go?

It's sad that this has happened, for whatever reason, it's just real sad.

You do realise that this a 6-days-notice? IF they planned to cancel it before, why did they wait so long?
Or they are plain bastards, or this IS something that came up unexpected.

It actually sounds like that.
MCD have a very bad reputation here in Ireland. There are ongoing litigations as we speak. There have been lots of events that have been mishandled, and unfortunately people are legally not allowed to speak of them (even here). They push people around. The egos involved are enourmous.
I think if they changed the deal at the last minute, or attempted some of their usual tactics with Prince, anything could have happened. There's no way anyone in MCD would have thought he'd walk away from the gig this close, so who knows what they might have tried.
It's looking like MCD are now trying to pin the entire thing on Prince and take no responsibility for the mishandling. Stories are being leaked that the stage was in the middle of being put together. This is clearly impossible, Neil Diamonds stage is being constructed right now in Croker. But MCD have let the BBC go with this 'fact'. And clearly MCD have been lying all along. There is no way Princes team called late monday night - then where did the rumours come from early monday?? And then the story was changed to Prince sending an email or fax... what?
But nomatter what happened he should still be playing.
